Jamf, the perfect MDM for Apple
What do you like best about the product?
My favorite thing about jamf is the ability to easily and simply manage all our apple products. These can be institutionally owned items or personal devices for a BYOD. This can be anything from macs and ipads to AppleTV devices. The choices are phenomenal. We can do simple commands such as locking the device to higher-level items such as pushing script to the self-service portal for end-users to send us logs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dont like the fact that apple limits jamf to control only. certain items. I completely understand there are certain areas that may be legally pressing but man is it difficult to try to set up a remote user and they need admin credentials to allow the ability to screen share in zoom.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving our ability to manage apple devices with jamf pro. We didn't have a solution previous to this and the google admin console didn't provide the solution we truly needed. We realized many benefits, we can apply restrictions to these devices, and we can send out applications or even homemade applications. We can even send out scripts like we do with our windows environment

The management tools and interface of the Cloud
What do you dislike about the product?
When things dont work and you have to find a solution, but there are so many resources.

Our users password sync issues, Jamf Connect has been a blessing
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is the best product to support Apple devices, ease of use and administrating are top notch.
I think JAMF Pro is a wonderful, powerful product.
What do you like best about the product?
I like all of the different functionality that JAMF Pro offers. It keeps management for the most part all in one place. Setting up groups properly makes deploying apps a breeze, and with smart groups re-assigning a device to a new staff member is simple and effective.
I also enjoy the security the JAMF offers, the newsletters are on top of if not ahead of any vulnerabilities that are present in the appleenvironmentt. I feel safe knowing that I have partnered with a great company.

What do you dislike about the product?
I believe that JAMF Pro is very cumbersome if you are not well trained or use the console daily. For my school, we have a very small fleet of iPads, which made it so that the cost of this product didn't make sense to keep it. (we are moving to jamf schools) I just with that JAMF Pro was marketed better for being for large fleets for schools, or more for enterprise businesses. Not using it very often made it so that my certificates would expire whenever I did want to make a change, so a small change turned into a 30minute project to get all of my certificates renewed. I understand that it is required for best security practices, but it was a breaking point for a school that is short-staffed.
Finally, I didn't like that if something was misconfigured or not properly enrolled in the past it was super hard to push apps or do key device functions. I know that this was nothing your business caused, but it was a point of frustration still.

It makes having a fleet of iPads possible. I have tried a few different solutions and none compare to this suite of tools. Jamf support is rivaled to none, they are truely experts in product assistance. I
Jamf Pro is how Apple Management is Done.
What do you like best about the product?
Jamf Pro uses logical containers for organizing Users, Mobiles Devices, and Computers into locations as small as a single building or as large as different cities. It doesn't need to be a school environment, even though Jamf is built with classroom management in mind. It can handle a fleet of traveling salespeople or a hospital with rotating staff just the same. Jamf Pro is designed with extra features to take advantage of a company's existing IT infrastructure and even merge with it.
What do you dislike about the product?
One downside of Jamf Pro is that it takes more staff and time to get it set up and manage than Jamf Now or Jamf School. However, that is to be expected. Jamf Pro is designed for a much larger user base. You have to start with a larger foundation if you expect to hold up a larger structure. It takes more planning and effort and time to get up and running with Jamf Pro, but it is designed to be that way because it can do so much more than Jamf Now and Jamf School.

We are a community college and have over 500 Apple devices (Macs and iPads) along with 3000 Windows devices. Our previous Mobile Device Manager (MDM) was rather basic, but fit our needs when we first started using iPads. As we moved into offering classes in programming using Macs, we knew we needed something better. Apple gave us our first licenses for Jamf Pro, but we have kept purchasing because it is such a complete management solution. We can separate groups of devices by buildings or by instructors or by subjects. We can even have different software automatically install onto a device if it is taken from one classroom into another classroom, or if a specific student signs into it. No more forcing a student to use the same device every time, and if it's not charged or broken... then what? They can use any device that's available and get the exact right software they need for whatever class they are taking. Jamf Pro helps students learn by helping us keep the tools they use available.
Jamf Pro is an invaluable tool for Apple-centric IT teams
What do you like best about the product?
Allows for both simple device management, as well as more advanced management. Everyone working at Jamf is a pleasure to interact with. Training programs are great too. The Jump Start program was a wonderful experience to get off the ground and running. For a small company with limited IT resources, this tool is invaluable to manage your devices, inventory, security policies, software installs, & onboarding.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasionally there are some features that don't mesh well with changes to the Apple OSes, but they are usually ironed out over time or other solutions are available by scouring the Jamf Nation forums. For example, the firewall controls are a little over-simplified and complex configurations aren't supported except via scripting - until Apple decides to stop supporting the commands needed to manage the firewall settings more granularly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Security compliance is so much easier with Jamf Pro (and combining it with Jamf Protect). Onboarding is a breeze, in particular remote onboarding. Now you can send them a MacBook out of the box, it will auto-enroll via DEP and start installing software, configuring computer settings/policies, and makes the entire process easier & faster.
Jamf Pro
What do you like best about the product?
It makes my job easier and helps end-users resolve issues quicker.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't feel like anything is missing and they keep adding features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ease of deploying new computers and management of those systems.
I laud Jamf at every chance I can get.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the app creation process and Jamf Connect. I like the reporting and monitoring. The interface is easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Always confused about the Activation code and license count. There is no documentation on how the two are related.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deployment and management of company MacBooks and application deployment
Recommendations to others considering the product:
JAMF is more than a product. It is a collection of Mac Admins who use Apple products every day. JAMF incorporates both the company employees and their customers to create a synergy, unlike other products. There is support through the community forum called JAMF Nation. I have used JAMF Nation and replied to and created tips for new users on multiple occasions. JAMF employees also join in there to apply their knowledge. They have a site called JAMF Heroes for a deeper connection to other users. Opening a support ticket is easy and I always received great support with my issues resolved quickly and efficiently. JAMF is simply a must for anyone who has Apple devices in their organization and wants them to be safe and secure, with easy application and settings deployment.
Jamf Pro Positive
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of adding apps and quickly making them available, the sync between Apple School Manager and JamfPro when new products are purchased. Quick and effortless.
What do you dislike about the product?
The training on initial setup and after was not very good at the time but there are more videos now. I think more specific sessions would be better and more productive for the user. Especially a new user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping an inventory of devices is so much easier, I have less time invested in inventory and it is easier to lock, monitor installs, and check to update individual devices.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Review test and get familiar with the program use the recorded sessions that are available.
Not bad
What do you like best about the product?
It is cheaper than most Mobile Device Managers. It has all the features of most MDMs. I can't imagine going back to individual consumer Apple IDs to manage all our devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
Better location data would be nice with maps etc. I would like better and more individual grouping/labeling options for apps. Right now it is tethered to both the mobile device side as well as the computer side.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used app deployment via consumer Apple Ids. We are now using Jamf as our Mobile Device Manager to manage all app deployment saving time. We are also not losing the accounts and associated apps. Any MDM does this.
Amazing Tool !
What do you like best about the product?
JAMF allows me as the Director of Technology to give my teachers total control of the devices in their class. Instructors are able to manage what the students can or can not do on their devices at all times.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that JAMF could find a way or teachers to be able to view students screens as they work. It would be very helpful for instructors to be able to see if students "unlock" themselves. SOme students are able to figure out how to unlock their ipads after teachers lock them
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Teachers wanted to be able to control spell check and define functions on the ipad during exams. JAMF has allowed me to give them that. Instructors are also able to lock students into their note-taking app specifically so that they are not roaming the internet while they should be working.
