Jamf Pro makes 1:1 school program effortless

  • May 11, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is rather effortless to deploy and manage a fleet of 1,000 iPads at our school. My favorite feature is how easy it is to create and deploy a configuration profile and how well it is integrated with our on-premise Active Directory server.
What do you dislike about the product?
The app and book deployment process is very klunky. It is easy for me because I have done it literally hundreds of times. We restrict all apps except for some (what we make available on Self-Service). I have to then add the bundle ID into the configuration profile. It could be a lot easier to use. But it works. And it works WELL.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is extremely beneficial to use in a school large or small. Apple TV management is a life saver. We have one in each classroom! I am getting into managing mac computers, so I am still trying to understand how that all works. Very complex software that allows you to really configure everything!!! Lots to learn.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you manage IT in a school or business this tool is a MUST! Not comparable to other competitors. It is very easy to use and works so well. Support is great, they help even with silly questions.

What do you like best about the product?
We have been using Jamf Pro since late 2016. It has yet to dissapoint me. The new addition of Return to Service is going to save us countless hours every summer when we refresh all of our iPads. Whenever I have an issue, customer support is always very responsive!
What do you dislike about the product?
I really don't have any dislikes about Jamf Pro. It is very User Friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can now remotely manage our iPads and install applications as needed and/or requested by teachers. The new RTS feature is AWESOME!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Jamf Pro allows you to remotely manage your devices (both iPads and Macs) with great ease.

What do you dislike about the product?

Awesome Product

What do you like best about the product?
The effortless way I am able to manage our Macs are great. Being able to push out multiple applications at one time saves time. The product enhancements that JAMF is putting out only makes JamfPro more powerful.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the downsides is having to upload third party packages, but Jamf is in the process of solving this with their Jamf App catalog. they already have a strong base of apps included and they are adding more as time passes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Jamf i am able to push applications out to our 300+ lab machines with minimal effort and never really having to lay hands on each machine.

Excellent MDM, This is the system all others try to duplicate.

What do you like best about the product?
The interface is simple and easy to navigate. most operations take place quickly and seamlessly. While setup will take some time at the start it is worth it in the end.
What do you dislike about the product?
Book management and distribution leaves something to be desired. It is complex and takes several separate operations to get going. Once the setup is done I tend to have to watch student devices to make sure the books actually get delivered. It is a major event every year.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our previous MDM required tons of hands-on device time, every summer to get updates pushed and prepare for the next year. It was a huge part of the summer process. Now the student keeps the iPads and we do it all through JAMF. Loving it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I have been using JAMF Pro for about 4 years. While the system is fantastic I am in the process of moving to JAMF School. The reason here is that School is a new product and more education-centered than JAMF Pro. Pro is mainly for businesses and other organizations that want to manage all Apple devices. I highly recommend the system.

easy to use and intituitive

What do you like best about the product?
It is very, very easy to create configurations, upload packages and scripts, and to deploy these to our macs. I use JAMF Pro, JAMF Admin, JAMF Remote, and occasionally Composer and Recon.
What do you dislike about the product?
The certificates expire very quickly and as such, our iPads often are unable to connect to self-service, and our macs occasionally lose connection to JAMF. In order to reconnect them, we need to touch each individual one, which is very difficult in an environment of hundreds of macs and over 1,000 iPads.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quick deployment of packages is the biggest benefit, as well as the ability to implement apps for iPads via self-service. This makes me much more productive of an administrator in terms of deployment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
JAMF has excellent support and does make deployment tasks significantly easier and faster.

Best Apple MDM solution, period

  • May 11, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Zero-day support for macOS, iOS and iPadOS devices. Neatly organized and very complete set of management capabilities. Top-notch customer support. Capabilities extend beyond IT admins; Jamf's suite of software empowers parents and teachers in K-12 environments as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have anything bad to say about Jamf or Jamf Pro.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing 2000 iPadOS and iOS devices, as well as 100 Macs is a daunting task for one IT admin. Jamf helps carry that weight.

Best at Mac management

What do you like best about the product?
Jamf Pro has a lot of features that I genuinely value. The versatility it offers in terms of scripting and scoping is one of its distinguishing advantages; it offers a level of automation that is superior to other products on the market. Jamf Pro's strength and consistency in adapting to and supporting new Apple features in a timely manner are additional remarkable aspects that guarantee our systems remain secure and up-to-date.

Customer support is another strength of Jamf Pro. When support and advice are required, the Jamf support crew and the larger community routinely excel at doing so. Jamf really does feel like the Apple of Apple management because of this culture of cooperation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Jamf Pro has a few areas where it may be improved. The SQL restrictions on smart group nesting are one such area. This feature appears to be a holdover from an earlier design, making it more prone to malfunction if the smart groups grow to be very complex. The entire experience would be considerably improved by updating this capability to more closely adhere to contemporary best practices.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jamf Pro has significantly benefited our company by resolving a number of Apple device management-related problems. It discusses a number of important issues, such as:

Zero-Touch Deployment: By enabling "zero-touch" deployment, which enables the automatic setup and enrollment of new devices without the need for human participation, Jamf Pro makes it simpler to install and distribute Apple products. This functionality not only saves time and requires less engagement from IT staff, but it also guarantees a consistent configuration across all devices.

Automated Compliance Management: With the aid of Jamf Pro, we can routinely check to see if our Apple devices adhere to corporate policies, ensuring that our systems continue to meet the necessary security requirements. Non-compliance incidents as a result
