  • January 05, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The monitors for automated basic testing and Newman compatibility makes this tool a permanent staple in my arsenal as a QA Analyst
What do you dislike about the product?
The way tests and environments are organized is a little clunky sometimes but they team at Postman is always responsive to feedback.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Manual and automated testing for api calls, using monitors for tracking of uptime and outages on a web platform.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This product is great for smaller comanies looking to manage their API test, but may not scale well to larger projects.

Best Tool for REST API testing

  • January 05, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pros:
The ability to set up global variables to be used across APIs.
Collection and Team workspaces are great for collaboration.
The tool is fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no option for sorting or color customization. When we work with multiple collections of microservices, color coding will help to quickly find out the APIs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Postman for REST API testing .
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are going to work on microservices with lot of team colloboration, the free version may not suit you - Go Pro.
There is a limitation on the collections you can share in the free version of postman.

Great API client

What do you like best about the product?
Postman is simple, easy to use and extremely reliable. It has a simple user interface. I like that it can automatically save calls made so that I can reuse them as needed. The ability to open multiple tabs is very useful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ability to create/save variable names is difficult. In fact, discoverability of it is even harder. For e.g. I want to give a user friendly name for my different test servers like [DB-Server URL], [AppServer URL], [QABox], [Jenkins-Box], etc. It is somewhat hard to find how and where I can do this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
API testing for product development and testing.

What do you like best about the product?
This is easy to use and secure tool. Collection creation for api requests is simple and i can manage these properly. As per the need can set the authentication for api requests. Automated testing process helps me a lot to do the job very quickly. This allows me to create script template quickly. Its user interface is awesome.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to dislike only thing i noticed sometimes large size file download slows the response.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managed the api requests in very efficient way. Saved a lot of time during api testing as the process of creating request is simple in postman. With the use of postman - api regression testing task much easy. Improved security of api requests with authentication.

Great Tool to create/test API

  • December 12, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I was introduced to POSTMAN back in college. I used it to send POST and GET requests. It was a great tool to get API data and receive the output in a variety of formats like JSON or XML. But the best feature I used was when I started my first job and I used it to build a mock API for an app. It helped me create mock API callouts which could be shared across with your team without worrying about having an actual backend.
What do you dislike about the product?
I had to read a lot of tutorials on how to create mock API requests and how to save the response. The tutorials provided don't go in depth on each use case. A better walkthrough of all the features would really make it easy to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helped me create dummy backends for my web app without having to worry about having an actual backend while working on my front-end. Helps in creating API structures by allowing us to save responses for a callout request.

Postman - Efficient and reliable tool for API

  • December 09, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This application is easy to use, secure and reliable. Easily can test API on cross platforms. Using this application now i can test APIs quickly. I can create API keys to authenticate the request to Postman. As well as i can create new workspace easily for the developer and integrators as per requirement. Easily can review the history of request as this stores all these.
What do you dislike about the product?
Only thing i noticed that if there is a large scale of array then it becomes a little bit confusing to identify the objects even this can be problematic for fresher developer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Postman made development and integration task easy for us. On requirement base easily we use to update the resource utilization limit. Keeping backup of our data on the cloud with the use of Postman. Feeling more secure as now we are validating request through API key. We automated the API testing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For API testing this application is a great choice and this is cross platform tool.

Postman really delivers

  • November 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It all comes down the ease of use. I used to have to develop mini test apps in order to hit a REST or SOAP service. Postman eliminates that altogether!
What do you dislike about the product?
A very limited subset of client certificates are supported. It would be nice to get all the common ones in there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were trying to help with testing time. Before, custom, messy test apps were being used, which added a lot to testing time. Postman really eliminates that need. It's been great, and turned something that caused a lot of friction, into something that just works smoothly and takes almost no time at all to setup.

Great tool for Rest Services

  • November 24, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the exhaustiveness of this tool to shoot out HTTP requests
What do you dislike about the product?
The tool offers a lot. So much that sometimes it becomes difficult to navigate. This is definitely not a con but the only thing I dislike
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Invoking Rest APIs and shooting HTTP requests. I was also able to store sessions so that I dont have to remember details.

A must for would be API Librarians

  • November 22, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use yet powerful provided you can code a bit.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can't access databases (or at least I have not found a way).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Documenting and testing APIs is a matter of organisation, and Postman makes it very easy to organise API tests into logical suites (collections). I call myself an API Librarian rather than a tester because to me the greatest aspect of Postman is the ability to organise requests.

When it comes to repetitive coded test elements, like setting a valid future date or calculating and expected value, Postman offers very powerful variable options at a local and global level.

We are writing Javascript to provide additional functionality, which could become a maintenance headache, but in Postman you can load the Javascript into a variable and simply call the function you need into the individual tests.

Using Newman we integrate the Postman collection tests into our CI environment, running automatically at every build and deployment. This works with Jenkins, Bamboo and GoCD (and similar tools).

And finally because the tests are easy to understand our non-technical stakeholders can get involved. I only wish I could write tests that go to check the contents of databases (like Couchbase or MongoDB as well as SQL databases) from within Postman.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make extensive use of yourself an easy life and treat it like a library or catalogue of API requests.
