  • October 27, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The offline feature is just what was missing on Outsystems. Without a doubt a giant step in developing on this platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
The presentation app didnt worked, but its not a big deal because we got to see the final product anyway.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At my company we have great need of accessing apps offline, so the offline feature is a really great plus for us.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just go for it!!!

What do you like best about the product?
It's very intuitive and it's not needed to code everything from scratch.
It's visual so it enables us to see what we're doing in a quick way.
What do you dislike about the product?
The screen size of the platform should be adapted to high resolution screens (2K)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
To develop fast solutions, and quickly adapt to the customers needs without spending much time.

Learning OutSystems

  • October 27, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I started my trainee journey in September 2016 and I'm already able to program and implement my own applications from scratch. Learning to use OutSystems is blindly quick and it is not indispensable to have education in IT, as me, a Chemical Engineer Student, learned the basics from the get go
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much to dislike at all. The user interface is excellent and the platform gives us some clues to what to do next. Maybe the learning rate is a bit hard to keep up with sometimes, but with little extra work at home, anyone can do it
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I still haven't solved any "real world" issues, as I'm still a trainee, but in little more than a month, I can already see how to solve some problems companies might get faced with

Quick and easy to spin up simple CRUD screens.

What do you like best about the product?
I love the flexibility the Studio environment provides, allowing you rename elements at will and have it propagate across your entire solution. It does a fantastic job of knowing what you probably want to do, an intelligent of sorts, that makes developing fast and easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some things that you would expect to be simple end up being difficult or simply not included within the suite. Fortunately there is a robust community that shares code that you can easily install.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Consolidating the shadow IT work that's been accumulating and going unsupported throughout the company into one central location. Replacing legacy systems with a much nicer user experience. Quickly delivering usable product.

    Computer Software

An excellent platform

What do you like best about the product?
Think of purchasing OutSystems' as buying a high powered Internet Systems team "in a box". OutSystems has done all the work required for website framework for application developers; build, compilation, deployment, database, database binding, monitoring, user administration, etc.

What I like the best is the platform enables a developer to focus on the application's data model, screens, and workflows and less on the underlying technology [although it's important]. For example, basing an application on OutSystems' SilkUI allows a developer to easily create beautiful response websites.

The True Change technology is great because it ensures an application is not uploaded to the internet server unless data is properly bound. The built in database integration allows a developer to quickly create a data model to build their application on.

Lastly, the built in deployment process makes application life cycle management easy as a click of a button. Deployment includes the application [including web services] and database.
What do you dislike about the product?
Well, all companies have to make money, but the software units model can limit the number of applications developed on the platform. It's not easy to guesstimate the amount needed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Business problems:
Develop in house applications.

Benefits:
Developers like the system because they can focus on solving the application
Team velocity has doubled
Users love the application look, feel, and responsiveness.
System is stable

- Strongly connected with database
- User friendliness
- Rich widgets control
- Timers, integration with other systems
- CSS customization

What do you dislike about the product?
- Very less video tutorials are available to study the platform
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Internal business management web applications

It meets your expectations if you are working with trained professionals who knows how to use Platform's features.
Gives good output for invested money.
Just need to believe in the platform

Best RAD aplication in the world, Outsystems

  • March 20, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There is a lot of things i like in que OutSystems.
It's very fact to build the application, we can build a simple application in minutes.
The out-of-the-box Analytics to monitor the performance, the quality of the
supportdesk and the active community (you have a forum where you can ask something When You
have some questions and the Forge, que is a webpage with a lot of components).
What do you dislike about the product?
The main thing is the license price. A large company can bear the costs, but smaller companies can be more complicated if we take into account with Microsoft / Oracle Licenses.
If it had lower costs, there might be more help on the forum and more help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been working several different projects. Integrations with SAP, Databeses (Oracle and MSSQL), integrations with a lot of services.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
First of all, view the tutorials, then sign up for a free personal environment and try OutSystems
Will be love at first sight

Great platform for beginners and experts

  • March 18, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Speed of development and ease of integration with existing platforms. As someone who has spent a career in IT, but never been a "developer", I was able to create a fairly complex application that seamlessly integrates with our existing databases.

True Change is pretty amazing - you make a change in one place and it corrects it in other areas of your application.
What do you dislike about the product?
The software usage in the pricing model is a bit difficult to understand. Forecasting the software usage/consumption of a new project is not easy to do.

The support forum is a user community. While it is a great resource, if it is your only means of finding an answer to a problem it can take too long to get an answer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We replaced a paper volunteer application with an online version. The time required to complete the application was reduced from days to hours. As a non-profit that needs more than 1,000 volunteers per year to staff our mission, this was a huge step forward in our recruiting process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Sign up for a personal environment and do the online tutorials.

Simple but does the job

What do you like best about the product?
What I like the most is how rapidly you can deliver products to the customer, especially if you have to make some modifications or changes to the program. Our customers have been really impressed with how fast we deliver and I think that is one of the things that the customer feels the most.
Working with the Outsystems platform is also great. It is easy to use, especially since everything is so visual, and that makes it easy for the programmer to read through the project and for others to see what is going on.
The Outsystems community is also very good, if i post a question or a problem on the forum i usually I get a response within days, I have also been using the Forge a lot, getting ideas and supportapps for my projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because some parts, for example operations and functions, are so well encapsulated it is sometimes hard to do certain things the way you knew before. But usually I just have to look the problem up on the forum and there I find the answer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been working several different projects. On one project the app is mainly used out in the field where users are gathering information using mobile devices. That project was fairly simple, the project was assigned on Wednesday and I delivered the app 95% ready 2 days later.

What I see as a benefit for the customer is that you can deliver the product quickly and at development time you can show the customer the product on screen, meaning that you are not showing the customer just a code but they are getting something to look at that they understand and can relate to.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Outsystems offers a great variety of courses to take and webinars to attend to and I would recommend to anyone, who is interested in the platform, to take the advantage of that.
It can also be good to take a look at the apps that have been published to the Forge page to see how things have been done and get ideas.
