Introduction to low code software development with OutSystems

  • May 18, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I absolutely love the library of pre-built components that OutSystems has to offer. Being able to create functional interfaces is so much easier compared to other development methods, and having access to existing widgets, templates and actions makes our code both more robust and easier to maintain in the future. The Forge store allows us to grab unwanted components from applications we've already built rather than starting from scratch, which can save a lot of time! Even if all these features weren't amazing enough, it's always great to be part of such an active community where your questions are answered in no time.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not like that the development environment within OutSystems, Service Studio, has a slower response time than higher code IDEs. In addition, custom features that are not included in the standard features can be difficult to build and time consuming to create. Finally, it seems that certain community-driven enhancements are overlooked in favor of more profitable short-term goals instead of being prioritized.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm benefiting from OutSystems because it helps me reduce costs and increase revenue by enabling me to deliver digital products faster with fewer resources. This agility gives me a competitive advantage and ensures that I stay ahead of technological advances.

Well-Rounded App Development PaaS With Enterprise-Class Support Structures

  • May 04, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
OutSystems' low-code model allows junior developers to learn faster, and senior developers who are new to the platform to start delivering value more rapidly than with other software stacks. OutSystems provides built-in accelerators to speed-up/automate common development tasks, like loading data from a spreadsheet into a database table, or implementing new REST APIs. OutSystems has a global presence, allowing us to engage developers from around the world, bolstering our local development team with additional capacity.
What do you dislike about the product?
OutSystems has tools and best practices (such as TrueChange, Discovery, and AI Mentor Studio) that make recommendations on how we can improve code quality and increase architectural agility. However, the platform doesn't provide a mechanism to enforce these standards, so often the recommendations are ignored and we need to manually check reports to monitor code quality. OutSystems enables lightning-fast application development and deployment, but without governance to enforce its own recommendations, applications can quickly become a sprawling mass of cross-domain dependencies that are difficult to disentangle. Running large teams with multiple developers working on an app can create challenges with code-contention. OutSystems is pretty good at merging versions, but it does sometimes get it wrong, with one developer over-writing another's changes. OutSystems version comparison is useful, but needs to provide a mechanism to compare changes across multiple versions to make it obvious when and who changed each component. My general experience with OutSystems Support is very positive, but is inadequate communication when they are working on P1 production incidents. We often don't know whether a problem is being looked at until after they have already found a solution.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
OutSystems decreases time to market by providing templates for patterns commonly used in web apps. OutSystems increases productivity by automating frequent development tasks, and provides single click publishing and deployments.

What do you like best about the product?
OutSystems is a low-code development platform that enables organizations to rapidly build and deploy enterprise-grade applications with minimal coding required.
One of the key strengths of OutSystems is its ability to integrate with a wide range of technologies, including databases, web services, and other enterprise systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are no dislikes for OutSystems from my end. It is a good platform for enterprise grade application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Integrating new applications with existing IT infrastructure can be complex and time-consuming, requiring significant development effort and technical expertise. OutSystems simplifies this process by providing pre-built connectors and integration tools that enable organizations to quickly and easily integrate new applications with existing systems.

Life changer experience

  • March 30, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
How fast it is to do most of things such as implementing complex developments, and specially doing frontend.
What do you dislike about the product?
Having specific ways to solve problems that could be solved more easily with 2 or 3 lines of code.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reusability problems, fast developing and reactive widgets that are easily customized. It makes my life easier because i'm a frontend developer so most of the widgets that I have to build are already or partially made.

It saves alot of time developing an app in Outsystems as compared to writing code as a developer

  • March 20, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Low Code and NoCode is the best thing. Maximum output with minimum effort by the developers out there. Coming from an IT background. I can assure you that its the best learning product one can have
What do you dislike about the product?
As per my little experience sometimes it takes a lot of time for the community to reply for a solution. Also the certification cost is very prohibitive
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping track of the previous environments.
Providing solutions by showing the errors as a developer.

The scalable and secure solution for enterprise application development

  • February 28, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Since implementing OutSystems in our organization, we have seen a significant improvement in efficiency and speed in delivering high-quality applications. This development platform is straightforward, so it has allowed us to create applications quickly without having to worry about code complexity. In addition, it has many integrated tools that simplify and speed up application development. One of the main advantages we found is its ability to generate native mobile and responsive web applications without the need to code specifically for each platform. Another attractive aspect is its scalable architecture, allowing us to handle large amounts of users and data without any problems. In addition, it offers excellent security for our applications and gives us peace of mind regarding compliance with standards and regulations.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price is the main obstacle, especially for organizations with limited IT department budgets. Also, although it is easy to use, it still requires programming skills for optimal use, making it a bit difficult to adopt the platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has significantly benefited my organization by allowing us to develop and deploy business applications faster and with a Marie quality; this substantially improves operational efficiency and increases customer satisfaction. The platform has helped us reduce the time and resources required for application development, allowing us to focus on other business areas. In addition, the ease of use and the ability to generate mobile and responsive web applications will enable us to reach a broader audience on multiple devices.

Outsystems: nice Low-code platform

  • February 27, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The speed and quality of the applications that I can produce per our business demands. We can then leapfrog our competitors.
Also, the BTP is an excellent asset in encouraging the automation of workflows.
What do you dislike about the product?
Limited community + not easy to integrate third parties services (such as Google sheets, Apple Login, etc..)
Moreover, regarding databases, it should be more open to other kind of DB and DBMS
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1- Rapid productivity throughout the application lifecycle: You create your apps and integrate them in weeks or less, not months.
2- Speed and code: Developing with a visual model while retaining complete flexibility to integrate custom code enables extensibility, efficiency, and accelerated development.
3- Multexperience development: Develop an application that can run on any device or platform. Risks, development time and costs are significantly reduced with error-free, automated deployments.
4- Agile oriented

Start in IT with Low Code

  • February 16, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I've been working for an IT company and OutSystems since I graduated from university. I'd never seen anything create applications as quickly as OutSystems.
Now, after 8 years, I really don't remember how fast programming is in other languages.
The best thing about OutSystems for me is the fast programming and the ability to be at the customer and show them something after a 1-hour meeting and validate with them if it is what they want.
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of commitment that many of the guys who put plugins on the forge have with the quality and maintainability of the components they provide. OutSystems, in my opinion, should establish some ground rules for components before making them available to developers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Specifically, the time to market issue. OutSystems helps us deliver faster and achieve time to market more easily with our customers. I now that with other programing languages this processes are slower.
