What do you like best about the product?
It creates a platform for people in the actual business (so not IT) to develop apps specially tailored to their needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
The high paywall in the licensing format. The upfront costs are pretty high.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Would like to quickly develop small applications tailored to the business' day to day needs.

Outsystems review for Retail

  • October 30, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Best in class and contemporary Rapid Application development platform. Easy to build native apps for android or iOS and web applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
Niche talent in the market. Not a lot of resources available. the platform needs more visibility in the coming days. This is going to be a challenge in comparison to all the open source available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Application modernization

    Consumer Services

The one to look out for.

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that you can have an application published and ready for testing without the involvement of other teams. The ability to generate apps for both iOS and Android.
What do you dislike about the product?
At the moment there is no real code branching implemented which requires some extra planning for teamwork. The fact that we cannot bundle any static data together with the mobile app.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Digitizing some of the paper based processes. And as a benefit the fact that we can build the app for both Android and iOS at the same time as well as having support for tablets.

OutSystems delivers fast results and helps optimize your business

  • October 30, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
OutSystems is very helpful in creating user friendly solutions to optimize business processes. It gives fast results and is easy to integrate with other systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes when you need support it could take a little bit longer then preferred.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have made our business more LEAN and were able to digitize. Also communication with our clients has improved and we have more and better ways to meet their demand.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make use of all the great options. And if you have not upgraded to Outsystems 11 yet, do so.

Functional and good looking apps built in a split second.

What do you like best about the product?
Outsystems allows me to reach a fast "time to market" with his pre-built patterns and optimized systems of querying data. You can build business processes running on sever side, allowing the user to have a great experience when interacting with the app.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the web reactive features are not well developed yet. And the aggregate filtering and fetching systems are still a bit poor in some way, there's still a great need to use pure SQL in Advanced queries to reach the goals.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fast user response. Outsystems allows me to fix any bug in a "second", and release the fix in a very efficient and quick way.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
A great tool to build great mobile (or web) apps. In a fast and efficient way

Ease of development, deployment and the quick to fail and go back to the drawingboard
What do you dislike about the product?
Release management can be hard with big, complex implementations

Various distributed legacy systems are going up to date in a unique, reusable and uniform platform.
New and fresh customer channel approach

Best RAD Platform

  • October 30, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The speed of integrations, architecture management and backed capabilities are outstanding. The capabilities to iterate on front-end are increasing a lot and its getting easier for Tech Leads to have discussions with Product owners and immediately iterate on the solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing has become a bit unclear, however the platform is growing a lot and there are a lot of learnings that will help the company reach a good outcome.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Full replacement of our old ERP system, from B2B to B2C applications. Mobile and Web.

    Transportation/Trucking/Railroad

Great promise, but with the possibility to create a an architecture of chaos if not governed right.

What do you like best about the product?
Speed of development, good overview of applications, good automated suggestions to improve code. One thing that's absolutely great about outsystems is that everything seems to be connected and actually works... example: changing a column name in a table will be reflected immediately across all forms, queries and logic where you've used that table. I've seen many flow editors, and outsystems is one of the best.
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that this speed comes with a price of bad architecture in the absence of a Domain Architect. It's too easy to create dependencies across modules, without a proper API Manager interface. Point to point connections can be created almost unknowingly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Invoicing, Payments, Mobile apps, integration API's. All with great speed. Last thing we've implemented was a paypage, that calls an API from a credit/paypage company. It took 2 days to implement, including UI. One other thing that's important is that litterally any developer (front end, back end, database etc etc) is able to use outsystems in no time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Have an architect present at all times. It's too easy for developers to make a mess that is disconnected from the actual Business Domains. It's too easy to create point to point connections, even if outsystems does provide all the right tools to create a good architecture.

Refactor Oracle Apex applications into Outsystems

  • October 30, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
In developer studio I really like the intuitive way of creating a datamodel. I also like how quickly you can make validations. I used to do this in PL/SQL which is doable, but Outsystems really helps me with making complex validations simple with visualizing it. I am used to drawing business logic before I start coding. In Iutsystems I can draw and I am done, I do not have to transform the drawing into syntax afterwards.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am originally an Oracle developer and I am used to work from repositories (SVN/Git) which allows me do deploy delta's. My experience in Outsystems is that a single change is always a full deployement. I would like to deploy delta deployments as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am rebuilding Oracle Apex web applications into Outsystems web applications. With Outsystems I can prototype all the time with me end user. So my end result is better than the original Apex application. I can't wait to use the Experience Builder as UX is apart from Outsystems at the moment in my team. With this way I prototype even faster than I do now.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Start building a platform strategy, don't just do a PoC.
