Near-Perfect Grammar-aid but with its limitations

  • August 07, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Grammarly is an AI-powered writing assistant that helps enhance clarity, correctness, and tone. For IT professionals like my team, it ensures technical documentation, emails, and code comments are clear, professional, and error-free. Also, if my team requires professional level content, Grammarly refines content to meet audience tone, improves readability, and maintains brand consistency.

Key features which our team usually like:

Grammar and Spelling Checks: Real-time correction of typos, grammatical mistakes, and misused words—critical for professionalism and clarity and helps my team a lot.

Punctuation and Syntax Suggestions: Helps fix common punctuation issues and sentence structure problems for smoother flow and better readability.

Clarity and Conciseness: Offers suggestions to simplify complex or wordy sentences—helpful in both technical writing and marketing copies of my team.

Tone Detection: Analyzes tone and offers feedback (e.g., confident, friendly, formal) to ensure alignment with the intended audience.

Style Consistency: Maintains consistent usage of terms, capitalization, spelling (US vs. UK), and formatting—vital for brand messaging or documentation standards.

Vocabulary Enhancement: Suggests more engaging or precise alternatives to overused or vague words—beneficial for persuasive writing.

Plagiarism Checker: Lets my team scan text against billions of web pages to ensure originality, essential for SEO-focused content and formal reports.

Custom Style Guides (Business plan): My team can create rules for brand tone, terminology, and formatting, ensuring content consistency across contributors.

Snippets (Business): Saves and reuses common phrases or templates for quick access in customer support, documentation, or repetitive messaging.

Domain-Specific Goals: Sets context like intent (inform, describe, convince), formality level, and audience type to tailor suggestions to my team accordingly.

Browser, App, and Tool Integration: Works across platforms like Gmail, Slack, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and more.

Team Management Tools: Admin dashboards provide analytics and control over my team's usage, permissions, and feedbacks.

Grammarly streamlines writing workflows, reduces errors, and enhances content quality—making it a powerful tool for teams working in a professional setup.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Grammarly is a valuable tool for general writing and communication, our team has encountered a few limitations, particularly in technical and developer-focused workflows. One of the main challenges is its handling of code snippets and technical terminology.
Grammarly often flags variable names, code blocks, and command-line syntax as errors, which can be distracting and not contextually relevant. Additionally, it doesn't always interpret technical jargon correctly and may suggest changes that oversimplify or distort meaning in technical documents.

We also find the limited customization of rules somewhat restrictive. Unlike linters or IDE plugins, Grammarly doesn’t allow us to define exceptions or ignore specific patterns globally. Integration is another issue—while it works well in web-based platforms like Google Docs or Gmail, it doesn’t integrate seamlessly into our code editors or Markdown-based documentation workflows.

Lastly, privacy remains a concern, especially for teams working with sensitive internal content, as everything is processed via Grammarly’s cloud servers without a local-only option.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Grammarly has helped our team streamline and improve the quality of our written communication across the board. One of the key problems it solves is the time-consuming process of manually proofreading content for grammar, spelling, and tone issues. With Grammarly’s real-time suggestions, we’re able to catch and correct errors quickly, resulting in cleaner, more professional writing.

For our copywriters, Grammarly has been particularly valuable in refining tone, improving clarity, and ensuring consistency across content. It’s made it easier to maintain a unified brand voice, even when multiple people are contributing to the same project.

From a technical perspective, Grammarly helps simplify communication between teams by offering suggestions that improve sentence structure and reduce ambiguity—especially helpful when explaining complex topics to non-technical audiences.

It also supports team members who are non-native English speakers, giving them the confidence to write clearly without second-guessing their grammar or tone.

Overall, Grammarly has become an essential part of our workflow, saving time and improving the quality of everything we write!

A Must-Have Tool for Clear and Confident Writing

  • August 07, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Real-Time Suggestions: Grammarly offers instant feedback on grammar, punctuation, and style, which is incredibly helpful when I’m working quickly.

Tone Detection: I appreciate the tone suggestions—it helps ensure my message comes across the way I intend, whether professional, friendly, or assertive.

Clarity and Conciseness: The tool often suggests ways to make my writing more direct and readable, which is great for client communication.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the suggestions can be a bit rigid, especially with creative writing or industry-specific language.

The premium version is a bit pricey, but I’ve found it worth the investment for the value it provides.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Catching Mistakes I Miss – Even when I proofread, I don’t always catch small grammar or punctuation errors. Grammarly acts like a second set of eyes, which is super helpful when I’m juggling a lot of tasks.

Making My Writing Clearer – It points out when I’m being wordy or unclear, and suggests ways to tighten things up. That’s especially useful when I’m writing emails or documents for clients—I want to sound polished but still natural.

Helping Me Sound the Way I Intend – The tone suggestions are a game-changer. Sometimes I think I’m being friendly, but Grammarly will flag it as “slightly formal” or “neutral,” which helps me tweak my message to match the vibe I’m going for.

Saving Time – Instead of second-guessing myself or rewriting things over and over, I can write more confidently and move on. That’s a big deal when I’m busy running my own firm.

Grammarly Review

  • August 07, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have used Grammarly for years in every document that I write. I send dozens of emails a day, and often have to write high-level and quality papers for work. I use Grammarly for all of those as well. Not only do I feel more confident before sending an email or paper, but I have also noticed a decrease in grammatical errors and an increase in overall writing quality, even without Grammarly's suggestions.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I dislike about Grammarly. It is wonderful!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Grammarly assists me when writing emails and papers for work. It helps me feel confident in my writing before sending it to someone else. It has also assisted me in communicating effectively.

Great product to take your writing from amateur to professional in no time flat!

  • August 07, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the help in identifying missing punctuation and the prompts that improve my writing from every angle. From a tone of warm and friendly, to inspirational, or even more professional and formal. Grammarly has it all. (Including this review!)
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing that sometimes becomes an issue is the infinite loop. Grammarly suggests a way to improve a sentence, you decide to go with that, so it replaces it, and suddenly sends a suggestion to replace that sentence with what you just wrote earlier. That can be a little annoying.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Grammarly is superb at elevating my writing without losing my voice and style! Super adaptive and easy to use!

Good but missing some features

  • August 07, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Grammarly is a great tool with many useful features, available in both the free and paid versions. It offers excellent support for English grammar, spelling, and style, making it a valuable resource for writing and editing.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main issue I had, was its lack of support for other languages. Since I often work with texts in languages other than English, this restriction led me to explore and eventually switch to other tools that offer multilingual support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Grammarly helps fix grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors while improving clarity and tone. It’s especially useful because it works in real time across different platforms, saving me time and helping me write more clearly. However, since it only supports English, I had to turn to other tools for multilingual work.

The Proof Reader I Never Had!

  • August 07, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Boy, am I grateful for Grammarly! I used the free version for several years and thought I was managing well. Still, I’m writing an autobiography and, having never been blessed with strong academic ability at school, I’ve found that I do tend to ramble at times. Enter Grammarly’s paid Pro version. Far from being annoyed by the prompts to correct my text, I now actually look forward to writing because I can learn and see how to improve my writing and presentation. There are also weekly reviews to inspire and demonstrate my improvement.
There are so many options to help shape a developing style, from correction and rephrasing to even reducing the length of the text, and more, which I find very helpful. It’s fair to say that sometimes you need to override constant suggestions, or you risk losing your own voice, but after many months, I’ve found my rhythm, and I’ve never been more pleased with how my life story sounds.
I pay annually for this, and it’s now a tool I couldn’t live without, whether for emails or creative ideas that emerge from my mind and are typed into text. AI isn’t something I use just yet, but it’s reassuring to know that it’s integrated within the software, and the plagiarism checker is invaluable for writing an autobiography or academic text.
The only minor inconvenience in my case is that I’ve traditionally always used ‘Microsoft’ Publisher, which isn’t supported by ‘Grammarly’ and will soon be discontinued. However, a quick paste into ‘Word’ and back again easily resolves this, and considering all the benefits the software offers, it’s a minor inconvenience.
Proofreaders aren’t cheap or easy to find, so this has unquestionably been an excellent aid to my writing development. Writing my book was once such a chore, but now it’s something I can’t wait to get stuck into each day. I really couldn’t live without Grammarly ‘Pro’, it’s my “friend”!
Long may you prosper…
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it keeps offering yet more ideas after you've settled on an improvement, and it sadly doesn't work in Microsoft Publisher, which, being said, will be discontinued this year.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My being too voluminous with what I have to say and write and how to often better phrase things.
