Best Tool for Content Writers

  • October 29, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The one major improvement since last time were the new features added, such as write with generative AI and check for AI and plagarism. That's helpful. Apart from this, the extended vocabulary suggestions are great too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes Grammarly's suggestions change the meaning of what I'm trying to say. So, the tool could be better at understanding nuanced writing geographically. Occasionally, it also misses obvious errors, so proofreading is still necessary.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As an independent writer, it just gives you the confidence that your content is error-free. This is highly beneficial when it comes to in-house or client content.

Grammarly Business helps companies write better by fixing mistakes in writing, making it look more professional. It also keeps everyone's writing style consistent, so things sound the same. This saves time and prevents misunderstandings. Plus, it teaches employees to write better over time.

Grammarly streamlines copy editing, in-house style, and content hygiene like a trained professional

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Grammarly took me by a pleasant surprise with its Style Guide feature.

1. Being the gatekeeper of content quality, Grammarly makes my job of enforcing in-house style, org-wide, a breeze. Editors and heads of content will know how tricky a task it is to achieve in cross-functional teams otherwise.

2. Every style rule I set almost instantly becomes accessible to hundreds of team members across time zones. This style is in-house, which is apart from the primary style guide (AP, APA, Chicago Manual, etc.) that you can choose. Both work together like a charm.

3. The best part is I can also track how well are these style rules being followed using Grammarly Analytics!

4. I am also impressed by Grammarly's "Knowledge Share" feature. I pop up (as a pre-written text box) into any public-facing content with critical product-led information on in-house nomenclature so that writers have the proper context at the right time. This tremendously helps with fact-checking, quality control, and, above all, reduced TAT for content before it goes live.

5. Grammarly also reduces my burden to optimize content for readability (critical for us). I am happy to highlight that Grammarly's content score includes the Flesch readability grading (or something similar), which helps us skip content cycles via a separate software to optimize for readability.

6. I also find the Grammarly report on in-house content trends, such as top mistakes, top tone detected, etc., very helpful!
What do you dislike about the product?
Grammarly suggestions still need improvement. Here are a few instances I can think of:

1. Grammarly seems to misunderstand the larger context and push suggestions that don't fit.

2. You can't entirely rely on Grammarly's suggesting mechanism when working in Google Docs or other writing platforms! I have witnessed Grammarly failing to identify every error in a copy in Google Docs. It either misses identifying the errors or flags them erroneously. This problem is typically not there in the Grammarly editor!

3. I also feel Grammarly is still not ready for long-form content editing in third-party writing platforms/browsers, such as GDocs, or other non-writing platforms where writing is still there, but on a small but impactful scale, such as Figma!

4. Grammarly cannot evenly scan long-form content (in GDocs), nor can it scan short-form content in many third-party platforms! For instance, default page breaks in Google Docs seem to mess with Grammarly's text scanability. It ignores copy errors, overrides suggestions, and erroneously suggests changes out of context. If the content has images, tables, and other elements, the scanability further malfunctions.

5. You have to copy-paste the content to and from the Grammarly editor--however small or big the content is--for best results!

6. Grammarly's integration with third-party apps must improve to unleash its full potential!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
QA, fact-check, copy edit, and proofreading content at scale.

The integration with multiple applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
If it could provide a translation option (especially for finding missing words from other languages), it would be great.

Phrasing, spelling, and grammar.

Great experience

What do you like best about the product?
I think what makes Grammarly Business so great is the ease of use. Either the Chrome extension or the fact that it pops up whenever I write something new is amazing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it doesn't get 100% of the intention of the wording, and then the suggestion can be a bit off topic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main challenge is writing without any grammar mistakes, and that is the base of the product. I enjoy the rewrite option and the fact that I can have several versions according to tone and messaging.
