A Powerful Editing Tool That Respects the Author’s Voice
What do you like best about the product?
I rely on Grammarly for both professional and personal projects. It was instrumental during the final editing stages of a book I wrote for my son last year, and I am currently using it again for a second book I’m preparing for his upcoming birthday.
Beyond creative projects, I use Grammarly to vet my online product reviews. Running my content through the platform ensures that my feedback is coherent, accurate, and professional before I hit "submit."
One of its standout features is the ability to customize style and tone settings to match a specific audience. Furthermore, the tool’s ability to enforce adherence to formal style guides, such as APA or MLA, is invaluable for maintaining academic or professional standards. I appreciate that while Grammarly offers a wealth of suggestions, the final creative control remains with the author; it allows me to refine my work without losing my unique voice. I even used Grammarly to polish this review!

What do you dislike about the product?
Occasionally, Grammarly’s suggestions can feel a bit clinical. I often choose specific vocabulary to evoke a certain "dynamic" or "mood," and the AI’s alternatives don't always capture that intended nuance.
Additionally, I find the newer interface less intuitive than the original layout. I frequently revert to the "classic doc" feature because the user experience feels more streamlined and focused. Regarding the newer AI Writing Assistant: while it is a helpful tool for overcoming writer's block, I use it sparingly. My goal is for my writing to sound authentic and human, rather than artificially generated.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Whether I am posting a public review or writing a private journal entry for my family, I want the prose to be polished and grammatically sound. While I strive for perfection on my own, Grammarly serves as a vital safety net. It is best utilized as a sophisticated tool for refinement—one that helps you communicate more clearly without stripping away your personal writing style.
Essential Writing Assistant for Professional Communication
What do you like best about the product?
Grammarly identifies subtle grammar, punctuation, and style errors as I write, offering suggestions for clearer phrasing and helping me present myself more professionally and confidently in emails, reports, proposals, and LinkedIn posts. The tone detection and plagiarism checker are significant advantages—it reliably prevents embarrassing mistakes and makes my writing process much faster.
What do you dislike about the product?
The free version offers only basic features, and I find that the premium suggestions are sometimes too cautious or miss the mark, particularly when I'm working on creative or technical writing. The weekly emails and stats can come across as a bit pushy. Additionally, the software occasionally causes slowdowns when handling large documents or web forms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Grammarly addresses the significant challenge of inconsistent and error-prone written communication within teams and in client-facing documents. By ensuring that every email, proposal, report, and Slack message is clear, professional, and free of mistakes, it helps reduce miscommunication, safeguard our brand reputation, and save considerable time that would otherwise be spent on manual proofreading. For our remote, global team, Grammarly is especially valuable for non-native English speakers, enabling them to write with greater confidence and helping us maintain a consistent tone. This has led to noticeably better response rates from clients and has shortened the review cycles for important documents.
