Works well, simple to use
What do you like best about the product?
How quickly you can upload spreadsheets to tables.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was a little unintuitive to use the very first time. I believe it was between the selecting data to upload and then turning the uploaded data into tables screens.... the experience just became a little disjointed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're turning spreadsheets into tables, simple enough. Saves time

Using FiveTran for source ingestion
What do you like best about the product?
We are using FiveTran to ingest data from a number of our source systems including structured and unstructured data.
Fivetran is capable of ingesting data from these sources in the following manner:
1. Historical Sync: Whenever a new data source is added, Fivetran first takes all the data from the source and dumps it into our data platform. This is intended to be an one time activity and cannot be scheduled from the dashboard. However, this can be programmatically triggered on a schedule from a Python script if for some reason we need to refresh the data from the source.
2. Delta Sync: Once historical sync is complete Fivetran figures out what has changed in the data and it brings in those changes through these syncs. These can be scheduled to run at a frequency range of 5 minutes to 24 hours.

What do you dislike about the product?
1. MariaDB: Fivetran is supposed to perform a historical sync and then delta syncs on this data source. Fivetran can currently perform historical sync with without any issues, but delta syncs require reading binary logs from mariaDB. And Fivetran cannot keep up with the binary logs being generated at the source because they are their size. Currently, Fivetran takes about 2 hours to read binary logs that capture changes in our source system for the last 1 hour. This has been raised as a ticket to the FiveTran customer support team and they are working on a fix.
2. Transformations: Fivetran offers SQL based transformations in the tool which has some intrinsic limitations, such as processing large XML files. We’re not currently using FiveTran for transformation of data.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to ingest source data very easily into our data platform without having to hand code the ingestion scripts. This allow us to focus on the more value added work of transforming the data into data assets that can be leveraged by the business for reporting and analytics.
Good variety of connectors - Lacks on scalability and Customer Support
What do you like best about the product?
- Easy to set up and configure
- Great support when it comes to setting up connectors
- Good choice of connectors
- For the connectors where it works, Fivetran performs very well

What do you dislike about the product?
- Fivetran is not scalable for large datasets, when it comes to binary log syncs. We have run into problems from day 1, as we have 100s of GB worth data to be synced from a single connector everyday. It has been over a month since the issue was first identified on Fivetran's end but there is no resolution in sight or even a timeline to resolve the issue.
- Fivetran's customer support is not very helpful as you have to constantly reach out to them for updates. On occasions, it takes them days to reply on threads or provide plausible updates.
- Fivetran sales team provided great support for 15 days before purchasing the product. But once the contract was signed that level of support was no where to be found.
Customer support is an essential service when buying into ingestion tools, especially at the premium price of Fivetran. But Fivetran fails to follow-through on scalability and customer support, from our experience.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- We are trying to bring in data from multiple sources and build a central data repository. Fivetran has helped with easy setup on data ingestion and that has saved time for us in terms of building different data connectors in house.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Fivetran provides a 15 day pilot period, where you can use the tool for free and evaluate the tool for your needs.
I would say evaluate your data source connectors thoroughly before purchasing Fivetran. We did not connect our live database due to security reasons, before purchasing Fivetran. But it turned out to be a mistake as Fivetran has failed to perform well on one of our production source.

Fivetran is a blackbox - when it works, great, but when it doesn't, good luck
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran is mostly automated, does not require much attention beyond initial setup, unless you have problems. Graphical interface makes synching easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
You aren't completely in control. Fivetran is a black box, and when there is a problem, it's really difficult to diagnose. Their support line is no prize, either.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Syncing external databases which we cannot control.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Develop a good relationship with the company or else fixing problems will be very difficult.
fivetran takes the pain away for managing etls
What do you like best about the product?
- fivetran takes the pain away for managing etls for standard vendors
- fivetran allows non-technical users to interact with our warehouse with csv uploads functionality
- fivetran transformations works well for us with webhook connectors to dynamically load data into our warehouse
- for anonymizing data using column hashing feature while doing replication from our master to dev rds instance - this helps with gdpr concerns and keeps our dev database from having any personally identifiable information

What do you dislike about the product?
- the postgres replication (using the Logical replication method ) has major issues - we tried to replicate data from our master RDS to another instance, but found the replication slot on master consuming more space than expected - we have had support cases that never got resolved
- Not all connectors have entity level delete capturing , wish fivetran could do that.
- wish there was more visibility into when the schema for various connectors is updated (when it happens)

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
managing data from standard vendors like salesforce, jira
understanding the vendor apis to arrive at a schema is now done by fivetran instead of an engineer

Great tool with easy integration
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of getting data into your warehouse, you can most a lot faster than more traditional custom coded solutions
What do you dislike about the product?
Some pre-built reports could be improved and also a better UI for custom built reports, lots of clicking
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Low code solution that provides data in almost real-time. Since the nature of our business is related to pricing, we want the ability to see feedback fast.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Keep on building more connectors
Amazing Product and Awesome People
What do you like best about the product?
This may sound silly, but what I like best is FiveTran does exactly what it promises to do. I don't think you can approach a modern data architecture and not consider a product like FiveTran which offloads the burden of creating custom data integration scrips from your development team to pre-built connectors. They support a tremendous number of data sources with their prebuilt connectors. We have implemented over 20 to date and all have worked flawlessly. I'm so happy to be done with custom ETL tools and hiring in house develops to build and maintain. I also know that my data engineers and analysts are much happier focusing on insight and on how to get data from A to B. It pays for itself in terms of time savings.
The sales process was very professional and the FiveTran team invested a lot of time in helping us to create a proof of concept so we could really see the tool in action. After the sale was done the on-boaring team was great and provided wonderful training session and continue to remain responsive to all questions. Great people all around.

What do you dislike about the product?
While all of the connectors work very well we have had a few moments where it wasn't clear what the sync status was. When you first implement a connector and especially if there is a large amount of data we found that we we not always clear on when the initial sync was completed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest issue we solved is the lack of ability to pull in more data to our Snowflake data warehouse. We had a single ETL developer slaving away for months to get one data source setup. With FiveTran we implemented 20 in 2 months. We are saving a ton of time and effort.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take a serious look at FiveTran.
Easy simple and gets the job done
What do you like best about the product?
How simple it is to configure connectors
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no bulk actions to create many connectors at once
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our use case is to create replication of db schemes from production to our data analysis layer
Game Changer!
What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that users can upload and interface with the data systems without being a full-fledged data user. This allows us to maintain permissions while still allowing users to achieve fast, clean data uploads.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly don't have any dislikes for my use!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Uploading large files to Snowflake in the easiest way possible! And so fast!
My team is a heavy user of Fivetran to Snowflake. We are actively exploring Fivetran to Delta
What do you like best about the product?
The stability of Fivetran to Snowflake has been great. SLA is matching with Punchh's requirement.
What do you dislike about the product?
No much. Just wanted to see a stable Fivetran to Delta coming out ASAP.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
MySQL to Fivetran to data lake. Current lake is snowflake. The future is general Hadoop (databricks, qubole, etc)
As a data ingestion tool, Fivetran has been a great help.
