Wix = Website Creation made Easy
What do you like best about the product?
Wix made it easy to understand what it takes to create an impressive online presence and customer experience for your website, even if you are not a web designer or have had a lot of experience with the process in the past.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing is very inconsistent and better deals come in frequently making it frustrating when you subscribe to a $99 package and receive an offer for the same pakcage for $50 the next day. They weren't very easy to work with to match this price when they already had our money, and that was certainly frustrating.
Other than that, the software seems to eat bandwidth up a lot and slows your computer down quite a bit.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a website with a similar presence to my company's main page for a sub-line of products and needed it to adhere to a much more limited budget. It has proven to do the job it needed to minus some initial frustrations, and overall seems like it was a good purchase.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need a solution to build a high quality presence on a website for an affordable price and don't have a lot of background in this area, Wix can take care of the grunt work for this.

Good for Simple Sites and Short Timelines
What do you like best about the product?
Wix is a great software if you are looking to quickly design and get a website up and running. I have seen many local nonprofits use Wix to create their websites using either the Connect Domain or Combo plans. With Wix it is easy to drag information around and have a clean presentation for your website with their wide range of pre-designed templates. As well, Wix seamlessly integrates a mobile version of your website with your desktop version.
What do you dislike about the product?
I needed more the ability to better customize and edit the website in detail and decided to choose another software to create my site. While Wix has some interesting and appealing templates, it didn't have exactly what I was looking for in terms of design. As well, I wanted an easier way to integrate an ecommerce platform into my website including acceptance of payments, invoice and packing slip design, and shipment solutions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
After trying Wix I decided to go with an another website creator to design my own website. Wix is fantastic if you are looking for an easy way to create a website, but it didn't have the flexibility I needed in creating an online ecommerce store.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Really understand what features you need in a website before deciding which software is best for you and compare the plans and ease of use for different software. Depending on your organization's needs, it may make more sense to hire a professional web designer instead of opting to create your own website. Wix can be a great starter website but you may find you need another program in the future.
Good for non-techy users but awful for developers.
What do you like best about the product?
The software is easy to use and maintain. you can easily create a new website within an hour or so using one of the software's templates. no installation required. one-click plugin install/embed. Pretty much unhackable with a great password.
What do you dislike about the product?
How restrictive the software is. The recurring charges that come with the premium format. Just use wordpress for a website builder. templates seem old and not really up to date with current capabilities like wordpress.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
can easily pass on to clients/customers so they can easily manage their website themselves!

wordpress. A good web developer. Magento.
Quick and easy way to get a site up and running
What do you like best about the product?
Wix's interface is quick and easy to use; essentially drag-and-drop. Templates provided get you up and running pretty quick.
What do you dislike about the product?
Hard for me to compare to other platforms such as Wordpress, but I don't believe Wix has the same power as some others. The Wix app store does add to features, but many apps cost extra, and even then, the functionality of many of them is limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Wanted quick and low-cost solution to move from third party web admin to in-house. Despite limitations, this goal has been met.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
As quick and easy as Wix is, for me it cannot complete with having a site professionally designed and administered. Budget, however, does not allow professional services at the moment. If you can, go pro.
Immense freedome and customization
What do you like best about the product?
I love the wix web builder, it has all the tools needed to build any kind of site you want, exactly the way you want it. There's no other free builder offering the shear freedom and customisation options of wix. This is pushed even further by the massive selection of apps that can be added to your site. You can even insert custom HTML where ever you like.
What do you dislike about the product?
I only have 2 problems with wix but their quite signficant.
First is the URL of a free site, instead of www.yoursite.wix.com you are force to have the strange format of yourusername.wix.com/yoursitename which is fine as long as people click on buttons or links, but it's almost impossible for someone to rmember this, if only told in passing.
Second, is the amount of time Wix takes to load, and most of the sites made with have this problem. I think this is the hand off for the freedom the builder provides, but the more customisation options and graphics used, the slower your site will be.

Wix is great for all the reasons already mentioned but for a professional business I wanted a professional and responsive website, so I have recently switch to weebly and never looked back, it's a dream to use and it now suites my need much better than wix.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
for a free web builder of similar quality, the choices really come down to Wix, weebly, jimdo, and maybe a few others in the lower teir.
WIX
What do you like best about the product?
I love the user-friendly nature of WIX. I find that WIX is much easier to use than other web design software I have used in the past. The number and range of templates available is particularly impressive, there truly is something for everyone! As opposed to working with other web design software the formatting on the templates is already completed, so only minor adjustments have to be made along the way.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I truly dislike with WIX is the process of creating the domain. I must admit I have done very little research on changing the domain names, however the limited experience I do have in this area has been frustrating.

Display information in efficient and visually-appealing way
Just when I thought I could never catch up, WIX saved my career!
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, of course! I started designing websites 20 years ago. I have always had a problem where if I was not in a constant state of learning, I would miss the "next thing" in web design. I finally got to a point where I could no longer call myself a web designer, there was just too much I was missing. Along comes Wix... so easy anyone can use it (I do not divulge this to my clients). I cannot believe how easily you can integrate email service providers, social media feeds, hotel reservation systems, fulfillment programs. Wix has broadened the services that I can offer as a designer and I couldn't be happier about it!
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't found anything yet that I dislike about the program. Oh wait -- I wish that there was an easier way to use icontact and wix together. I have a lot of clients and they either use mail chimp, constant contact or icontact. I find that when you insert icontact code it looks messy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am providing low cost websites to small business or town services, both having very small budgets, but the need for a nice looking website. Wix allows me to create something beautiful and hand it off to a town employee who can easily take over making changes to the site.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it once, you will be absolutely hooked just browsing through the templates.

Great for easily building a professional looking website for the non-coding amateur.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not flexible whenever you're looking for a feature which is not available.

Great if you're looking to build a simple good-looking website. Limited if you're looking to build something more.

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use. If you've never built a website before, this is a great way to go. There's no coding involved or anything super technical. There are also apps that can be added such as connection to social media.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a lot of limitations, such as font choices. It's hard to keep to your brand when you're limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was able to put my contracts for clients to fill out right on the site. No more printing, papers lost, etc. They can fill it out online and send it over.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a great starter. If you're familiar with web hosting, this probably isn't for you.
