Automated recovery has reduced downtime and now restores full application environments quickly

    Reviewed on Jun 22, 2026
Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

We rely on Arpio Disaster Recovery & Readiness for the automated disaster recovery feature and the automated failover. We have multiple regions in our infrastructure, for example, AP South-1 as one region and Singapore or another region. We set up failover policies between both regions with the help of Arpio, which is a cloud-native disaster recovery as a service tool.

If one region fails, traffic automatically gets routed to the other region. There is also one-click recovery possible with Arpio.

Arpio Disaster Recovery & Readiness is primarily used for disaster recovery and backup. Other backup solutions restore only files or VMs, but Arpio restores everything including networking, security groups, IAM configuration, load balancers, and databases. The application can come back online without manual rebuilding, and it automatically configures everything from scratch. That is a valuable aspect of Arpio.

    What is most valuable?

Arpio Disaster Recovery & Readiness offers one-click recovery, automated failover and failback features, continuous replication, and disaster recovery testing capabilities. Disaster recovery testing has made the biggest difference for us.

We are able to test the failover and recovery, validate DR plans, and run isolated sandbox testing, which causes very little production downtime. This is helpful at the POC stage or the test stage. Another key feature is automated disaster recovery, which includes failover and failback, allowing us to recover everything with just one click. This is generally called application-aware recovery.

Arpio Disaster Recovery & Readiness has positively impacted our organization as we are able to quickly recover applications after outages, ransomware attacks, accidental deletions, or regional failures. A metric shows around 20% to 30% of our traffic downtime has been reduced due to this, and we are attempting to uplift that metric up to 50% if possible. Maintaining that metric ensures our downtime is less and latency is minimized.

The main feature that stands out is application-aware recovery. Unlike backup solutions that only restore files or VMs, Arpio can restore everything including networking, security groups, IAM configurations, and more. This feature is incredibly useful because configuring everything from scratch involves substantial time and costs.

    What needs improvement?

I would wish for Arpio Disaster Recovery & Readiness to be better suited for on-premises environments. It is generally well-suited for AWS and Azure, but not very much for a hybrid environment such as AWS and on-premises, which may not provide the same value. Arpio could improve significantly in on-premises environments, which is a primary concern.

The pricing is somewhat high currently, and there could be extended discounts for regular customers or subscribers. Those are the limitations that could be addressed for Arpio.

Usability of Arpio is very good, and the UI is user-friendly. However, initial DR planning always requires a comprehensive understanding of cloud architecture, which can be a challenge for non-technical individuals such as product managers or sprint managers. That could be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Arpio Disaster Recovery & Readiness for approximately eight months to one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Arpio Disaster Recovery & Readiness is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Arpio Disaster Recovery & Readiness has good scalability; it can scale up to multiple instances.

How are customer service and support?

Customer support for Arpio is good. I have resolved many issues with their support team, and they have been very helpful.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have not used any other solution previously, but we have relied on AWS in-house solutions for cross-region needs. I find that Arpio is a good solution that we discovered.

    How was the initial setup?

Usability of Arpio is very good, and the UI is user-friendly. However, initial DR planning always requires a comprehensive understanding of cloud architecture, which can be a challenge for non-technical individuals such as product managers or sprint managers. That could be improved.

    What was our ROI?

We save about 40% of our time due to Arpio, and we have also managed to save between 20% to 25% in costs.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is good at the moment. However, it could be better for regular customers if it were discounted.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We have not used any other solution previously, but we have relied on AWS in-house solutions for cross-region needs. I find that Arpio is a good solution that we discovered.

What other advice do I have?

The advice I would give to others looking into Arpio Disaster Recovery & Readiness is to first review your requirements carefully. Document everything about your needs and compare it with what the product offers. Match your needs with the product features; this will help you understand what aligns best. For Arpio, be cautious during the configuration; it is easy to deploy, but maintenance can be difficult. Neglecting this can have long-term impacts on your organization.

I would rate this product as an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

    Amazon Web Services (AWS)
    Computer Software

Cloud Replication technology like this is perfect for anyone operating in AWS.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ease of setup using the CloudFormation templates, and the ability to easily select the resources that make up our application(s) so that we can basically let Arpio take care of the hard part of cloning our resources into an alternate account and region & activating resources in the recovery environment.
I like the ability to test the recovery.
Failback is properly engineered as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Certain niche AWS services may not be supported, but this can be solved for. AWS SES is a good example. You can manually setup this complicated service in your alt account and it'll be there when you need it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Arpio is solving our need for a secure DR recovery tool with a configurable RPO and retention period. We are able to meet the promises we make to clients about Disaster Recovery.

    Arpio Rocks!

What do you like best about the product?
Arpio gives me peace of mind knowing that my data and configuration are backed up and ready to use in an alternate environment at a moment's notice. From a compliance perspective, Arpio is incredible! Being able to run recovery tests very easily takes a huge load off of my team. Setup is easy, and above all, the service is reliable. I have used many other solutions; they all had major shortcomings and were painful to set up. Arpio is a well-thought-out solution that provides an end-to-end solution for recovery and testing. I am so grateful for the Arpio service and recommend it to my peers.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not have any issues with Arpio; I am delighted with the service. I typically have at least a small complaint, but the service and the team at Arpio are awesome!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Arpio solves compliance issues because we must be able to show disaster recovery tests as well as off site, cross account backup and replication. This was a major headache for us using traditional means. With Arpio on AWS we have really been able to focus on our core business needs.
One of the major pros to Arpio is the team behind it and the responsiveness to any questions that come up.

From no DR to automated DR in minutes!

What do you like best about the product?
The easy-to-use interface handles the auto-discovery of dependencies and ensures critical components are not missed. As an orchestrator, it makes it such that the team member(s) do not need to have intricate and detailed knowledge of the AWS environment. The automation ensures AWS environments (production and DR) are kept in sync and air-gapped to avoid compromised data.
ARPIO is the best blend between DIY and a managed service: you have control over what and how you wish to replicate the data, and the automation takes care of all the rest.
New features and support are being added daily, and they take feedback seriously.
The team at ARPIO is heavily vested in your success. They exemplify what a partnership is and what it means.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are nuances within AWS that can get in the way of a successful implementation, and these can be confused as ARPIO limitations when it is an AWS issue. It can be challenging to determine where the issue lies (AWS or ARPIO), but having the ARPIO team with you every step of the way makes a world of difference.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DR takes time: time to set up, time to keep in sync, time to monitor it, time to test it, time to update it as components change, etc. That time translates in to staff: people doing the work. We have a limited amount of staff, and while it is critical, DR keeps falling lower on the list of things "to do." ARPIO enabled us to have a junior information security analyst manage our DR, and we had complete confidence it was in good hands.
We are now not only compliant with regulations, we are far ahead of our original RTO and RPO metrics. We also have the comfort of knowing our DR is time sensitive and air-gapped to prevent an impact from malware.

What do you like best about the product?
Arpio simplifies disaster recovery to the fullest extent. The app's inventive and remarkable infrastructure inventory logic is truly impressive. Additionally, Arpio distinguishes itself with its distinctive recovery window configuration feature. The exceptional customer support and relations ensure that subscribers maximize their subscription benefits.
What do you dislike about the product?
Arpio could enhance its approach to disaster recovery for stateful resources like databases. Currently, if a malicious individual manages to corrupt your database without detection within the recovery window, Arpio lacks the capability to restore the uncorrupted version. Providing customers with additional recovery options, such as multiple recovery windows, would greatly improve the service.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Arpio orchestrates the DR for our RDS instances.

DR automation solution that takes the pain out of setting up AWS DR workflows

    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The simplicity and effort reduction. What previously took an entire repo worth of internally supported ad-hoc scripts to accomplish can now be done through the Arpio UI in seconds. Personalized support, often provided directly by the head of CX and CEO, are also excellent.
What do you dislike about the product?
Arpio is a young company and is still lacking support for some of the more niche AWS services that some companies rely on. But, as the product matures those growing pains should go away.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automating the process of reproducing application infrastructure in a different account in the event of a catastrophic failure. In Arpio, this takes only a clicks, as opposed to maintaining ad-hoc scripts.

    Seamless integration with AWS accounts.

Great orchestration instrument for implementing a successful DR plan with desired business recovery objective, retention policy, and AWS resources in scope.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Arpio dashboard and support team has been awesome so far. We asked for SSO integration and they are already working on it. Very agile team!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Successful implementation and orchestration of a pilot-light DR solution on AWS multi-region and multi-account environment. Arpio allows us to configure the desired DR plan and meet our business recovery objectives with very little effort from our engineers. Thank YOU!

Excellent option for DR with AWS

What do you like best about the product?
The simplicity of implementation was the best part. When searching for DR solutions, we determined that many of them would require a substantial project to get them live. We were hoping to find a solution that was easier to implement, and Arpio was it! Their team helped us through every step of our implementation, even helping us run through our DR tests and confirming that everything was running as expected.

After our implementation, we've had great success with our ongoing DR tests, and the platform is easy for everyone on the team to understand. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to add a resilient DR strategy to their AWS stack with little-to-no resourcing requirements.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have any complaints about the Arpio platform. It's simple, focuses on one thing, and does it very well. If anything, Arpio's platform has just made me dislike a few other toolsets we're using a little bit more because they are not as simple to implement or maintain.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our AWS stack has become pretty significant over the years, and ensuring that all parts are set up for DR (and tested regularly) has proven difficult. We always had a worry about resources being added for new functionality that may be missed in the DR plan. Arpio solves all of this for us by replicating our AWS stack (even bits we were sure it would miss) in an easy-to-manage DR platform.

What do you like best about the product?
We don't need to worry with manage replication, and the replication is not from the source or destination account, almost a set and forget it tool, cause it's really easy to setup.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think that only the fact that still don't replicate entire AWS service list, but that's not a huge problem, as they already have the main services available and they're increasing it frequently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Today it allows me to sleep more peacefully knowing that I no longer need to worry about replicating the various services we use, as I know that the most critical ones I will be able to recover if there is a problem with the current structure. And I also know that if by chance they improperly access our environment, it will not be possible to attack the target structure directly, as there is no communication between them. For those who fear ransomware attacks, the target account is isolated from the current account.
