Streamlined video production with AI generated content
What do you like best about the product?
It's very easy to use Synthesia once you use the correct browser (not everything seems to work in Firefox, but it's all OK in Google Chrome). The AI generated content and templates give you a good starting point to then fine-tune and tweak from, saving time and effort. There is a good selection of avatars to choose from, some of them are better than others. I create a lot of eLearning content and the videos integrate with Articulate Storyline and Rise very easily. Sometimes I use Adobe Premier Pro after producing a video to add to the end result. Customer Support has been exellent using the chat feature (thank you Lillian). It's easy to get started with. I tend to use Synthesia fairly irregularly, depending on the job list I have at that current time, but it is easy to get back into after a little while.
** Update, 28/4/25 **
I have recently completed a job involving the creation of a custom avatar. The build for this was in conjunction with a professional video production company in order to get a perfect green screen and high quality audio for the avatar. The results from this have been absolutely amazing, showing how good this technology is becoming and how fast it is progressing. Updates to the platform are regularly dropping and it's pleasing to see that costs are not sky rocketing at the same time.

What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like to get my avatars to move more, for example, turning side on, holding props such as a stick to point at, or see them typing on a laptop, holding a phone etc. etc. Not all of them have any hand gestures and some look a bit robotic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Other video platforms don't help me to create the content (script) as much as Synthesia. This saves time and effort.
Great. I cannot ask for better!
What do you like best about the product?
It is really easy to use and it is very smart.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing. Synthesia is great. I don't see where could be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Presentation, e-learning
Tripled our enablement content productivity
What do you like best about the product?
Really simple interface and provides plenty of sharing/export options.
What do you dislike about the product?
The voice cloning results were disappointing, but I recognise the awesomeness of this tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating engaging training material on tight deadlines is challenging - synthesia has completely mitigated that.
Real-life videos in minutes!
What do you like best about the product?
There are options, in terms of voices and visuals. Graphics that are being made have animation options, in-app video edit/trim options, and background music to set the tone of the video. Synthesia is user-friendly and intuitive. The videos can easily be integrated on any platform/medium.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is very expensive. Working in AI, the most evident thing is the heavy competition that arises in an overpriced segment. While the technology used is widely available, technology providers are not into gatekeeping.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating explainer videos without involving time or resources. It also includes the linguistic advantage and helps to navigate a multi-lingual and global workforce.
Efficient and effective training tool
What do you like best about the product?
> the ease of desigining a training video presentation - easy to use online software
> the integration of AI into the platform to 'auto design' a training module based on existing documentation
> use of the tool provides fast and efficient training solutions vs. the 'usual' method of arranging training video logistics

What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was a dedicated ipad or iphone app to view /edit.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Saving time, money and other resources from other traditional forms of training
Broken moderation system; "uncanny valley" personal avatars, and poor customer service
What do you like best about the product?
The studio avatars they provide are decent. Only a couple of them proved to be accuate enough to feel comfortable with posting on social. The templates provided were ok.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Personal Avatar engine is not ready for prime time. Despite hours of attempts, we were unable to get anything that was usable. Often, it was just a hilarious, ugly mess.
The moderation system is completely broken. If you are promoting anything that uses particular keywords like "therapist", your video will be automatically rejected with no explaination in about 2 hours, followed by threatening automated emails from their team. It is impossible to reach anyone about this, and they refused to explain why our videos kept on getting rejected. Often it was just the removable of a key phrase like "therapist" that made a video get approved, but this was clunky and difficult to handle.
When requesting a refund due to the bad experience, they refused, claiming their policies prevent all refunds.

We are no longer using Synthesia
Recommendation
What do you like best about the product?
The videos to be created have a very high quality. The Pro version offers many personas and many voices. The support team responds quickly and is very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing has been noticed yet, currently we are very satisfied with the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Synthesia for teaching.
Probably the niftiest and most useful tool I've come across in recent years
What do you like best about the product?
The quality of the video produced is astounding. I've shown the results to several people, and most did not pick up that this was an avatar speaking in the video.
Producing video this way has a number of priceless advantages. First, your video is not fixed, you can adjust and refine video at any stage, when new ideas have emerged that you wished you had integrated into your video. It's also a tremendous cost-savor, no more expensive video shoot needed for things like instructional videos. And it's just fun, seeing the result is very impressive.
Lastly, we had some interaction with Customer Support, which was impressive. Even on the weekend, we got a respond within 15 minutes.

What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing really major, but, as always with these tools, there is a learning curve, and it does take time to get to a great result. Synthesia offers a host of tweaks, such as adding pauses or even getting the avatar to nod, which gives the touch of perfection, but is time-consuming to get right.
There are small improvement we could imagine, but the functionality that's available is rich and sufficient. Improvements we can think of are more in the category of "what, if", not "if only".

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Making our content and website more professional and engaging with videos that explain certain critical propositions
Finally a product I can use
What do you like best about the product?
After years working at large companies, I'm doing a small startup, so I'm learning many new roles, and one of those is digital marketing and content creation. I have no time for tools that are complex or don't generate professional results.
I tried out Synthesia and without any training, I quickly created a pretty decent marketing video, using just the free tier. A couple days later I decided to upgrade to a paid offer so I could better brand it and have access to more personas and voices. In this process I could use the same basic content and just regenerate the video.
I'm now branching out to try the screen recorder for a hands-on demo video. I hit a bug, emailed the company and they got back to me personally the same day and fixed the bug next day. Yes I wish I didn't have a problem but also they demonstrated their responsiveness.
So far I haven't found any gotchas or missing features. I like that images and music are built-in, ie, I don't need to go search for that elsewhere and try to integrate it.
In my 2nd video I started getting bold enough to add extra gestures and pauses, which are really easy to do and seem to kick up the quality a bit more.
As a small company, I like being able to use different personas and voices so everything isn't just in one voice (mine!). Bottom line, easy to use without taking hours of tutorials.

What do you dislike about the product?
I can't think of any missing features for my use case. I guess the only minor frustration I've had is that I thought if I upgraded to the paid version, I would get access to all the personas and voices, but it turns out there are something like 4 levels and I only bought into the 2nd level for now. If you work in a big company it's probably no big deal to get the top SKU, but if you're paying out of your own pocket, just be mindful about what you get with the 2nd or 3rd tier. I do think it's a good value in general.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm doing some marketing videos explaining the benefits of our products, and also some hands-on demos for developers to show them how to use our SDK. The latter requires the screen recorder. I was delighted to learn I can narrate in my voice and have that generated with a different pro voice!
Best AI Video tool I've come across
What do you like best about the product?
Synthesia has a lot of options for aesthetics so you can customise the backgrounds of your video literally however you want as well as a massive library of avatars with an even bigger range of voices.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be buggy at times, as with any newer platform, when I have used it it has had loading errors after each update and little bugs here and there byut the tech support team has always been very helpful in providing quick fixes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My business is using Synthesia to create video how-to guides and so far it has been working for us.
