Amazing.
What do you like best about the product?
I've only been using Synthesia for a relatively short time but I love it so far. The Avatars, when they speak, are so life-like and the speech is almost perfect.
I find Synthesia very easy to use, and I use it a few times per week. The trial period is generous and the Starter Plan I'm on is fairly reasonable.

What do you dislike about the product?
Besides pauses, there doesn't seem to be any other way to control the speech, like emphasising words, speed of speech, etc.
I would prefer a usage-based system of paying, eg. credits, rather than a monthly subscription. There may be months where I don't use it at all.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Synthesia is enabling me to include a human-like character in various content rather than recording myself, which I prefer not to do.

What do you like best about the product?
I’ve just started using Synthesia, and I have found few competitors match the quality it offers. If you're looking for a relatively easy-to-learn AI presentation platform to create engaging videos for your business, Synthesia provides a good suite of features. I was able to take my PowerPoint and transform it into an engaging presentation with plenty of avatar options representing diverse appearances and backgrounds.
I created the presentation myself using Synthesia’s helpful Learn videos, especially their guide on making engaging PowerPoint AI videos, which provided great tips. Despite initial troubles, their customer service reached out to me early the next day and assisted with the upload until the issue was resolved. They were friendly and patient, which I appreciated.
One detail I appreciated is that avatars don’t just stop moving when not speaking—they sway and blink like real people, a nice touch that shows attention to detail. This makes the presentations more lifelike and engaging.
I'm particularly excited about the updates coming later in 2024, which might allow for hand movements and full-body animations, enhancing the realism of the avatars even further.

What do you dislike about the product?
However, some of the earlier avatars could benefit from updates. While I might prefer their look, they often have fewer real-life expressions and voice options. I’m on the month-to-month plan at $89.00, and I did encounter some trouble uploading my original PowerPoint using their AI tool (which stayed in the loading phase for a while). Unfortunately, tech support had already left for the day when I needed help.
The main reason I’m giving an 8 out of 10 is the moderation period. If you finish a project outside of their working hours, you might miss a tight deadline since Synthesia manually reviews all content before release. While I understand the need for this to prevent misuse, having a 24/7 moderation team would significantly reduce bottlenecks and help meet deadlines.
Currently, avatars that include the head and torso mainly have moving heads, which can look odd. I’d also love to see more modern-looking avatars that reflect people you’d see in major cities.
Despite these issues, it’s a solid platform. I created more engaging videos than with static PowerPoints, and I’m excited to see how Synthesia evolves as technology advances.

Lip Sync has room for improvement, also a full integrated working would be nice (e.g. Audio to Text, Basic Video Editing)

Creating and updating easily training material
Amazing speed to create training and communications video - the cost saving is considerable.

The reduced time to create a professionally looking video. The avatars are compelling.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not enough language options for New Zealand and Māori language support. Further diversity of avatars for the region to be representative of New Zealand cultures.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With no dedicated internal training team means that training is always an afterthought whereas in a human centric world it should be a priority! As a change manager I always have limited time and resource so this was the ultimate answer to move quickly supporting training and adoption. Ironically, Synthesia and the use of AI was also used as the vehicle to drive more change capability through embracing and innovatively using AI.
Great tool for how-to videos
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of making demo and how-to videos. With AI voices and multiple scenes it's really easy to update a video if the product changes without having to re-record the entire thing.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not much. I'm not so interested in the AI avatars but it often encourages me to use them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to quickly make demo videos that can then be edited very quickly if something in the product changes (as it often does in SaaS).

Less automations. Creating customized charts, diagrams, etc. takes a lot of time. Limited template options.

Love the ease of use for creating new videos. Very easy for non technical staff to use.

Kind of pricey for what it does. But one of the better products out there.

The tool itself, but also the responsiveness of the support and the quality of the support. Easy implementation because it is easy to use and there for quickly to setup and to start generate content.

I would like to be a bit more in control of what i do, what i create and what i am able to do.
If Voice-Cloning was supported in the Creator subscription, it would be already a bigggg plus. Besides this the tool is not ready yet for us to use.
Therefor i stopped the paid subscription because i want to wait for the tool to become useable for us as SaaS company.

I can create videos like a pro
What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to use. There are many avatars to select from, and the language quality is good. In my video, my avatar needs to speak both English and Mandarin. I have tried several video-making tools, but all other tools could only generate super robotic Chinese voices. However, Synthesia provides a fluent and natural Mandarin accent.
What do you dislike about the product?
1. I hope to use the same avator all the time, but I hope to change the costume and hair style of my avator. I have not figured out how to do it yet.
2. When the avator mostly speak Mandarin, if the script contains some English words, the speaking speed for the English words are too fast, not clear enough.

I am a good content creator but I do not have the look and voice of an influencer. Synthesia helps me to overcome some of my disadvantages.
