  • December 06, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The new license model now provides easy access to powerful analytics functionality for smaller businesses, too. The combination of easy-to-use frontend features and well-maintainable administrative features ist unique in the market.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are still two different IDEs for report and document developement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anything between classical E-Commerce analysis and advanced logistics and supply chain predictions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make use of all the administrative tools.

  • December 06, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Beautiful dashboards and on web it is easy to use
What do you dislike about the product?
Technical support rarely respects SLA, they are completely understaffed.
Developer didn't change for the last years and has the same bugs year after year.
Slow performance
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SQM. Which means, dashboards showing the performance and state of all networks of our Telco clients.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are on a hurry developing, you need to be certified. Technical support is slow, understaffed and a simple question may take 3 months.

MicroStrategy Provides Powerful Analysis

  • December 06, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to quickly put together a project that allows users to have great insight to their data in order to make improved decisions. It supports many data sources and can handle complex analysis. I like that the applications can be customized to user type - from casual user that just needs basic information to an advanced analyst that wants to build their own reports.
What do you dislike about the product?
I like most everything - I think there remains improvement that could be done in the area of data visualization.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have used MicroStrategy to solve problems in many industries including Retail, Telecommunications and CPG. Currently I'm working on applications that provide trends of sales and inventory and also calculate shrink. Profit improvement is realized by helping retailers reduce shrink on products that have a short shelf life.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do a trial and I think you'll see that it can meet or exceed your expectations.

    Computer Software

Best, easy to use BI solution

  • December 06, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use, enterprise scalability and flexibility to adapt with various databases/lakes is what catches a practice head like me. The solution sold well mainly because of ease of getting started
What do you dislike about the product?
The development part of Microstrategy could be a little more business user friendly. The validation parts also need some tune up so non technical users can use them
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We solve multiple business problems- real time alerts, executive reporting, analytical insight dashboards etc., benefits have mostly been in terms of time to deliver

Good product overall, if you know what you're doing.

  • December 05, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Robust SQL engine, numerous types of connections to several data sources, relatively easy integration of multiple data sources in single dashboard. Enterprise product enables us to pick and choose the components we need, and we're able to meet most reporting problems with the wide-variety of tools within platform. Cloud services also helps us spend less time on operational stability.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some disparity among different types of objects (reports, documents, dashboards) both in UI as well as feature set. Graphs look great in dashboards, but terrible in reports. Efficiently utilizing full array of features in platform requires a lot of education about what all the products do.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating a "single source of truth" data. Standardizing data governance across enterprise. Enabling users to be self-sufficient with self-service BI.

Terrible.

  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It looks pretty and used AJAX to interact instead of our old report center which used activex.
What do you dislike about the product?
Every update produced more bugs than it fixed. Would require entire reports to be re-worked.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We run a report center, so it works well with that.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Licensing is out of control. Worse than Cisco!

MicrStrategy Developer Experience

  • December 05, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to get up and running. The product is also multi functional, you can build cubes, reports, Data Entry transaction reports, send everything via email, write to file, etc. I especially like the re usability of objects. End users do not need a lot of training. This product is flexible to where you can add your own java code to enhance the end user experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not been able figured out how I can control table joins within reports, so I have to created free form sql reports, which is messy to upkeep. The documentation is lacking for this product
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use MicroStrategy for data entry and also we use it for revenue vs forecasted. Our end users use it alot to get project end statistics to the client
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Licensing cost. Upfront costs can be expensive, however, upgrades are included in the yearly maintenance fee, which is something not all software companies provide.

Comprehensive offering. Pushing boundaries on new technology, trying to make the leap
What do you dislike about the product?
Big undertaking to setup. Requires expensive implementation budget. Technology is not SaaS
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tried to implement for a new product line. 1 year in project was cancelled after it was still sitting in development.

SQL Engine is strong, but complex visualizations can get tedius

  • December 05, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
SQL Engine, ease of maintaining the objects
What do you dislike about the product?
may visualization tools like report, documents, VI. Some are good at something, other lack certain functionality. Also we there are bugs with regard to free form reports and crashes on users at times. Administration is also a handful for getting usage metrics, etc. Cloud strategy virtually non existent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have reports from all aspects of our business.
From Operations, customer success, support, sales and financials.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its is a good solution to deploy organization wide, but if you want to impress the board with immediate visualization then tableau would do.
