What do you like best about the product?
Administration is the best - with highest security features. Data security can be managed at different levels.
In terms of reporting, this is one of the versatile enterprise reporting tool- allows to easily report on any database.

Analytics ability can be improved also there are many technical glitches with the tool which makes life of developer challenging

Reporting on financial data.
Benefits are the presentation quality and levels of security that can be achieved. Mobile applications are also coming up good.

2+ years with MicroStrategy, primarily focusing on financial analysis
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to incorporate vast amounts of external data into the system without the need to add/create tables in the EDW.
What do you dislike about the product?
The inability for a grid report to bring in multiple sources of information, similar to how a document works.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our division is comprised of 5 different business that were bought throughout the span of 2-3 years and each has their own ERP system. MicroStrategy allows us to have a central location for our information and enables our key business users to have instant access to our entire organization's information

Compared with other similar platforms I've used, extremely easy to get started

User interface has a number of quirks--functional but sometime strange.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cross-database "canned" reports, self-serve data analysis, client-facing dashboards
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Identify your account rep and become friends with them! They can be extremely helpful in directing you to the right tech resource. (There is a large and widespread support network and finding the best person to help with a specific problem can sometimes be challenging.)

What do you like best about the product?
The Power of the Tool. MicroStrategy can work against a wide range of Databases and Big Data systems. They also listen to their customers and add new features based on customer request or customer's custom work on the tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
Getting to second tier support by experience customers. The first tier will spend a lot of time asking the standard questions from their "sheet" after the information has already been provided in the case or is already in the system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The end users are my current and previous company uses Microstrategy (Mobile especially) when face to face with customers looking at current sales and trends and they are able to make recommendations on future products to sales and they can show them the supporting data/report.

If you need power and flexibility then you need this tool.

The software install process is not great and does not work properly all of the time. It is not easy to determine what needs to be selected.

We are able to pull live data and run scenarios.

Sharp looking dashboards, database connections and architected data

Some errors are hard to fix and may take a long time to get resolved

We have a brand new implementation of Microstrategy and a new data warehouse. This has been a one tool does it all solution for us for self service discovery, mobile reports, dashboards, subscriptions

The ease of architecting new data into the overall BI solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
Complexity of Web Designer when creating and linking dashboard pages.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have 32 offices across the country. We use MicroStrategy to consolidate data across those offices to form an Enterprise view of the information while still allowing individual offices to build custom analytics on their individual offices. Self-service reporting and scheduling of standard reports have cut down on support requirements from the satellite offices.
