What do you like best about the product?
I like IBM Turbonomic for its automation and data-driven recommendations. It removes the guesswork from infrastructure management by continuously analyzing workload demand and providing clear insights. I also appreciate its ability to integrate well with cloud platforms and monitoring tools like VMware and public cloud providers, which makes it versatile.
What do you dislike about the product?
Initial setup and fine tuning can be complex and time-consuming, the interface can also feel overwhelming at times. Some recommendations would be improving UX and simplifying onboarding.

I use IBM Turbonomic to monitor and optimize our cloud and on-prem infrastructure, which helps solve resource overprovisioning and performance bottlenecks.

I really like IBM Turbonomic's automated right-sizing recommendations because it clearly shows what resources and applications actually need, optimizing CPU, memory, and storage without constant manual monitoring. Its continuous analysis and clear action recommendations make day-to-day infrastructure optimization much easier for me.
What do you dislike about the product?
Deployment and onboarding are not very lightweight. It works well once configured but the learning curve and configuration effort at the start could be simpler. A more guided installation flow, clearer documentation for integrations, and ready-made policy templates would make onboarding faster for new teams. Setup was manageable but not exactly plug-and-play. Basic deployment was straightforward, but proper configuration, integration, and policy tuning took some time to get right.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use IBM Turbonomic to address unpredictable application performance and infrastructure waste. It automates workload sizing, preventing resource excess and shortages, and controls costs by pinpointing unused capacity, all without manual monitoring.

One downside of IBM Turbonomic is that it can feel complex at the beginning. The learning curve is a bit steep, especially when you’re trying to fully understand its decision engine and automation policies.

IBM Turbonomic solves the problem of resource imbalance in complex environments where workloads are constantly changing.
In most cloud and Kubernetes setups, you either overprovision to avoid performance issues or underprovision and risk outages. Turbonomic continuously analyzes real-time demand and makes precise scaling or right-sizing decisions.
For me, the benefit is:
1. Reduced cloud costs by eliminating overprovisioned CPU and memory
2. Better application performance without manual tuning
3. Less time spent firefighting resource issues
4. More confidence in automated scaling decisions

What happens is that sometimes we allocate more memory, storage, cloud resources than needed and that's where Turbonomic comes in. It analyzes and then recommends rightsizing of the resources
Powerful VM Optimization, But Expect a Learning Curve and Setup Ramp-Up
What do you like best about the product?
We've been using Turbonomic for a few months now, and it has been a solid experience. What stands out the most to me is how it optimizes VM resources; it removes much of the guesswork involved in right-sizing. Before this, our team spent a lot of time manually reviewing resource allocation, and it was easy to overlook things. Now Turbonomic flags issues and provides clear recommendations, which makes everything simpler.
The performance management features have also been helpful. Being able to identify bottlenecks before they become problems is something I didn't realize I would appreciate so much. It allows us to be more proactive instead of always reacting to issues.
We're still in the early stages of using the tool, so I'm sure there is much more we have yet to explore. Even at this point, it is already proving to be valuable for our environment.

The biggest challenge for us has honestly been the learning curve. It's not a tool you can just plug in and immediately understand. There’s a lot to it, and it takes time to get comfortable. Our team has mostly been figuring things out on our own, which has sometimes been a slow process.

The documentation is another area that could improve. When you're trying to find answers quickly, it can be hit or miss. Sometimes, what you're looking for isn’t explained as clearly as you’d like, or you have to search around quite a bit to find the right information.

Someone had to sit down, review utilization, identify what was oversized or undersized, and then take action. This process is time-consuming, and often tasks like this get pushed down the priority list when the team is busy with other work.
Turbonomic removes that burden by automatically surfacing recommendations, so we don’t have to search for inefficiencies ourselves. From a cloud spending perspective, we are beginning to see where we've been over-provisioning. The tool is helping us adjust those resources, which should lead to cost savings over time.

The new HTML5 interface presents data very nicely. I also appreciate the ability to enforce policies without managing individual VMs. Additionally, IBM Turbonomic integrates with monitoring tools we already had in place, helping with visibility and resource decisions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think it's complex for new users and they need documentation to use this service. It feels a bit overwhelming at first, especially for new users. A simpler onboarding flow, step-by-step setup guide, and more real-world examples in the documentation would help a lot. Some short tutorial videos or use-case based walkthroughs would make it easier to understand the recommendations and policies without digging through long docs. The cost is hard to justify for us, so our system administrators will need to manage resources manually.

What do you like best about the product?
I love IBM Turbonomic's Actionable Insights; it tells me exactly what to move, scale, or resize to keep applications performing well. The Automation Engine is a big plus because it moves us away from reactive 'firefighting.' I appreciate the Full-Stack Visualization because it maps everything from the application to the storage layer in one view. The 'Placement' and 'Sizing' features are life-savers, taking the guesswork out of resource allocation. I really appreciate the value of the automation in saving a massive amount of time that used to be spent on manual troubleshooting and over-provisioning, and the integration with key tools like IBM Instana, Datadog, ServiceNow, AWS, Azure, and Red Hat OpenShift. The system basically gives us a map of our entire environment, making sense of our infrastructure relationships.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the tool is powerful, the initial configuration and policy tuning could definitely be more user-friendly. It takes a fair amount of time to set up the 'Targets' and make sure the automation doesn't trigger too many alerts at first. I’d also suggest improving the UI for the reporting dashboard. It's great for deep technical dives, but when I need to pull a quick high-level summary for my manager, it can feel a bit cluttered. Adding some more 'out-of-the-box' executive reporting templates would save us a lot of manual work in data exporting.

Steep Learning Curve for Advanced Features: Some of the advanced capabilities (such as custom policies, complex what-if scenarios, and governance controls) aren’t immediately intuitive. There’s a learning curve that requires time investment from infrastructure or cloud engineers.
