Avanan Cloud Security
What do you like best about the product?
A great product with top notch support that should not be overlooked for e-mail security.
What do you dislike about the product?
No dislikes, all is well with the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Further securing our e-mail domain from spam and phishing e-mails
Best and Easiest Software Ever!
What do you like best about the product?
Super user friendly and straight forward. I did a lot of research to find the right solution for our small business and I landed on this one. Super easy to implement! The most coverage, and easy to maintain. Also, a huge plus that it protects the cloud and isn't just a gateway protector; as in what if its already in the gate?! Covered
What do you dislike about the product?
Not a big deal. but sometimes the site doesn't update when you dismiss items. Or the items flagged will stay on the dashboard even after dismissed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Small business email protection was the main aspect. And protecting within the Microsoft platform. Definitely a huge difference. It has caught numerous phishing attempts and impersonation attacks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Some other platforms are pretty hard to implement so make sure you ask, that was a huge selling point for us.
Avanan provides Peace of Mind
What do you like best about the product?
The dashboard showing incidents makes it easy to manage - I like being able to quickly see what alerts are current and need to be remediated. Additionally, Avanan makes it easy for our users to request an email be released in the event that Avanan mistakenly blocks a sender.
What do you dislike about the product?
Having to maintain two blacklists - one in Exchange and one in Avanan. If there was an easy way to import/sync Office 365 black/white lists so that I didn't have to input entries twice (which is probably redundant anyways - but I'd rather be redundant than too lax), that would make administrating Avanan in conjunction with Office 365 a bit easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to reduce phishing attempts from making it to our user's mailboxes, which reduces the overall risk that we experience as an organization when considering email risk factors.
Avanan is great
What do you like best about the product?
Phishing protection is excellent, API protection is the only way to go. It catches more emails that Microsoft with ATP enabled. If Avanan's services go down for some reason (which they haven't yet), then your email doesn't go down. support is excellent. Sales process was by far the easiest compared to Mimecast and other services.
What do you dislike about the product?
Price is on the high side for email protection. There are the occasional rough edges in the web gui. They need a knowledgebase instead of always having to contact support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Phishing is a huge security issue these days and Avanan seems to be the best way to block it that I can find.
Benefits: peace of mind knowing your users are exposed to less phishing than they would be.

Avanan Cloud Email is a game changer
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to use, not resource intensive and learns on the fly with AI
What do you dislike about the product?
There really are no downsides. Make sure you're continuously scanning
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scanning of our email and continued security for incoming, outgoing and at rest
Excellent Office365 Provider
What do you like best about the product?
Continue to grow and mature in the security space and provide new ways to protect your Office365 resources and data. They stay up to date with any added features to the MS Tech stack and ensure that their solutions meet the needs of their customers. Love the way they are proactively reaching out to customers to allow them to try-out their newest tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
In the beginning, not much from a roadmap perspective; now they are very proactive in providing not only their roadmap but also test drive and experience their new ways of protecting your Office365 environment. Honestly, there is NOT MUCH to dislike about their solutions. Perhaps it may be their cost, the DLP solution was expensive compared to the Cloud Email Security solution.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Securing our Office365 environment, Teams, OneDrive, Sharepoint and Email as well as DLP for Citrix Sharefile
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it out, they provide all the tech support you need to trial their solutions.
Great addition to e-mail secuirty
What do you like best about the product?
First - the fact that Avanan is an amazing partner that takes the time to learn about our needs - And then has the agility to enhance their solution to meet those needs and emerging threats. Next, the API integration to Office 365 - ease to find / report / manage. Also that we can send details over to Splunk.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would be great if Avanan could dig deeper into why Microsoft blocks / zaps e-mails beside just the Avanan items.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Microsoft misses certain types of attacks. Avanan found some really sophisticated and critical attacks that were missed by the other solutions.
Very intuitive and flexible email security platform.
What do you like best about the product?
The ease in the ability to query and perform actions on emails. The platform is fast and responsive. Being able to take action quickly on a mass of emails is critical and Avanan is able to perform at a high level.
What do you dislike about the product?
The timeliness of the Citrix ShareFile integration within the main portal. We had to manage ShareFile in a second portal until it was ready for integration in the main portal. This took some time and additional overhead on our part. However, Avanan was able to implement it into the main portal afterall.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The benefits that we realized is the increased visibility in Shadow IT accounts which were able to better manage internally; we were able to store our custom queries for quick access to information and run them consistently or pause them at our discretion for increased performance; the tracking of changes in states of an email as it flowed through the system was very beneficial and our ability to manually change the state at our discretion was very helpful.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Thoroughly review the integrations available for this platform as you will find there is a plethora of options to choose from that can complement your environment.
zaps phishing emails
What do you like best about the product?
Avanan blocks phishing emails that other companies miss. I’ve tried several. And because Avanan is API-based, it can reach into all mailboxes and remove emails that shouldn't be there.
Even though I use Mimecast as my primary filter, Mimecast misses many phishing and spam emails. Avanan detects the phish and stops it.
Avanan is also quick-acting to remove email from inboxes. Users will report, “I saw something suspicious, but then it disappeared.” Avanan has done its job. Creating block rules against that sender is easy. Another example, email is sent by mistake, then I can remove it from all mailboxes with a quick search.
Plus, it has anomaly detection. Meaning it sees the good and bad login attempts to our accounts and does a Geo-IP lookup and notifies me of suspicious behavior. For example, I have an email account that is accessed from different countries at the same time and Avanan detects and reports this. You can also create an exception rule to exclude it from future detections.
It's a brilliant product and deserves recognition. I seriously sleep better now that I have Avanan.
Why do I use two email filters? Because two is better than one in today's environment.

What do you dislike about the product?
After three years of use, I've seen it miss a handful of phishing emails out of the hundreds that Mimecast and Microsoft ATP missed. That's a PRO. User awareness is still an essential part of our layered defenses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I spent a year with just Mimecast, and it was stressful. I've now had three additional years of Mimecast + Avanan. I can trust Avanan to detect and remove malicious emails. It helps me relax and focus on other work. Malicious email is serious business and a huge problem. Ransomware, using email as the initial attack vector, takes down businesses for days or weeks. Email filtering is step 1 of protecting your company.
Easy setup with 365 APi
What do you like best about the product?
It just works. It requires very little updating or babysitting.
What do you dislike about the product?
It finds email addresses that are no longer active and tries to protect them. When you only pay for active users, it can identify an old account and assign a license. This puts active users in a detect only mode.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Phishing, Malware, and Spam
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Sign up for the trial and see what it can detect in your environment. In read-only mode its no impact on production.
