What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Improving in data governance by rnqbling various business stakeholders to understand their data and gain insights for the same.

I would recommend to everybody.
Powerful metadata and data governance tool that could be a little too much for some
What do you like best about the product?
It's customizable and capable. They give you a good OOTB model to allow you to capture various kinds of metadata. What's not included you can add based on your business needs. Workflows allow you to set up processes that match your use cases and ways of working. The number of support materials and coaching from Collibra is also pretty good. I like that they are moving in the direction of more machine learning.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be confusing at times. Customizability is a double-edged sword as you are constantly second-guessing yourself and wondering if your changes or additions will cause unintended problems or conflicts later. We find ourselves wishing Collibra would be more prescriptive with some parts while allowing configurations where things don't fit our business. The licensing model charges each author, which discourages use of the tool. It would be better if we could allow anyone to contribute (in more ways than simply adding comments or running workflows) to attain true adoption and get the traction we need to be successful. The tool could be friendlier to business data stewards.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is allowing us to centralize the documentation of our data ecosystem and make it transparent to all employees. People know that if you have questions about data, you don't need to ask around and hopefully find the person with the right tribal knowledge - we are offloading all of that into Collibra. We are also starting to take advantage of their data lineage and data quality components.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Collibra is very flexible and customizable. I would recommend collecting a large number of use cases, prioritizing them, fully understanding Collibra's capabilities, and analyzing how the OOTB asset model can address these use cases. You may need to customize the model in some places, but I recommend utilizing what is available first, as some customizations may require rework later. I would also be very careful while working with different divisions within your company. You can choose to allow each division to scope their customizations so that they're only visible to them. Keep communication open to determine when it makes sense for different areas to customize versus using the tool consistently across the company.

Collibra provides handful of information with pre defined busines models. It has powerful integration with external data sources, on top comes with cloud which makes easy to manage application resources

Import and export processes needs to be further improved.

Data Catalogue, Metadata management. easy handle and serves as single place for trusted and certified data attributes from respective owners

Easy for governance around your metadata. The platform provides features like catalog,glossary,Data help desk etc which are awesome . Job servers being one of the top features for connecting multiple system for data pulling.

UI could have been more user friendly...

Collibr DGC: business friendly, flexible and great value
What do you like best about the product?
Its flexibility regarding the operating model (meta data specification), the ability to extend the experience by nearly seamless integrating it with Excel (preferred business users tool) and other applications using the extensive API framework, the ability to build customised workflows, the customisation opportunities of the look and feel of the application (to corporate standards), the comparative light-weight feel of how the application behaves/performs.
What do you dislike about the product?
The ugliness of the user interface when used as-is (style, buttons), some aspects are clunky (complex relationships), the fact Collibra removed some functionality (automated hyperlinking) and never got around to build proper versioning (despite various urges from the user community to do so).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Create internal/operational efficiencies (reporting requirements to lines of business worldwide);
- Improve business process outcomes (master data changes, data model changes -> workflow);
- Have a worldwide and also globally accessible single source of truth, instead of knowledge in heads, scattered documents and knowledge gaps.

If you are working on data lineage (horizontal and vertical), data glossaries, looking for opportunities to automatically ingest meta data definitions, want to manage it from one place and be flexible as well: buy it - although it does not come cheap, it's worth it!
Collibra Data Governance Center Review as SaaS
What do you like best about the product?
Collibra DGC implements a very business user centric concept with an high flexible solution and consistent user interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
The SaaS solution does not support VPN tunneling into the company network or other networks, which makes easy and secure integration difficult.
The Collibra DGC is a cloud solution, but there are functional components that need to be deployed and maintained outside of the SaaS Solution with relatively high manual efforts. The monitoring and administration means maturity could be improved.

We are implementing the FAIR principles with Collibra with the objective to enable the "Informed use of data" in a data democracy
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Before implementation make yourself familiar witht he operational model of Collibra, which will help you to drive the implementation and customization to your customer. Adapt to the taxonomy of Collibra making sure you speak with one voice and have the same understanding with your implementer.

Collibra implementation just kicking off; excellent resources for training/onboarding.

Very good training and customer support for onboarding, e.g., flexible options and customization provided to meet specific needs

Ability to ingest metadata / lineage from a wider variety of sources could be improved.

Very good back end, front end is a little clunky
What do you like best about the product?
Collibra is a very intelligent platform that helps give us insights into our data and provide those back to the business. The platform itself is intelligent and very functional and they have wonderful customer service. We are currently expanding our usage of Collibra to include not only the Data Governance Center, but also Collibra Catalog including lineage. This will automate our metadata collection and lineage discoverability which will help us greatly in our governance journey. We are looking forward to having the vast new amount of metatadata and profiling about our environments without having to painstakingly manually input everything.
What do you dislike about the product?
The front end is a little clunky and difficult to "sell" to our business users despite the wealth of information held within. The search capabilities are also slightly lacking in the when somebody searches for a metric that is used commonly across the company, they end up seeing everything we have. I am sure that we could create some custom search functionality and/or use what Collibra offers in a better way, but given everything else we lose the time to do that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a tremendous amount of data from all over the company; collibra has helped make our data known so that users can have confidence in what they are using to drive the business. We have implemented Collibra across many initiatives and leverage the change management functionality to better alert downstream data consumers of changes to upstream data sources. It's awesome.

Feel free to ask them questions and to really leverage their team. They have been excellent partners and have been very faithful in their support over the course of several years.
