Use LucidLink daily for several months and am satisfied. However, there are still hurdles.

What do you like best about the product?
Uncomplicated use. Integration into the Finder. Modern look/UI. Performance. Customer support good and fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price is high, especially if you want to use LucidLink as the only file space. Installation of LucidLink Classic is quite cumbersome on Mac devices. Mobile use is not yet well possible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It should be collaborated with ease and high performance, especially remotely. That works well. Adding and removing temporarily collaborating people (freelancers) is also great. We don't have a strong IT department in the company, so an uncomplicated cloud solution is better in most cases than a maintenance-intensive server solution.

Excelent for very large files

  • May 19, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about LucidLink is how seamlessly it lets our team work with large files as if they were stored locally, without the usual delays of syncing or downloading. The new version 3.0 has addressed many of the limitations we previously noticed — performance is faster, file management is smoother, and collaboration feels effortless. The platform is reliable, easy to use, and keeps getting better with every release.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn’t much to dislike, but some advanced management features were missing in earlier versions. For example, user permissions and large folder operations could feel limited before version 3.0. Fortunately, the latest update has addressed many of these gaps, and the roadmap looks very promising for closing the remaining ones.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
LucidLink solves the challenge of working with very large files across distributed teams. Instead of wasting time downloading or syncing heavy assets, our team can stream and collaborate on them instantly, no matter where we are. This has significantly improved our productivity, reduced delays in project delivery, and allowed us to centralize our file management without investing in complex on-premises infrastructure.

Good not great

  • May 19, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I can see LucidLink trying to solve a problem within the industry, however, other solutions like BlackMagic Cloud and Google Drive provide a much faster and reliable connection (based on my feedback and tech support inquires with Lucid team).
What do you dislike about the product?
The slow servers in Hong Kong are not a great thing for a stable connection. For example, I was able to download 200 GB files via Google Drive in about 15 mins unto my system, but using LucidLink the same 200 GB files took over 9 hours. However, it is a regional issue, and I dislike that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not really sure, there are many solutions.

One of the best tools for editors that exists.

  • May 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The level of connectivity you achieve with this tool is super valuable, the immediacy with which you can connect files and have your team see everything in real time is extremely valuable. The connection of the application is very simple and you can connect very easily to any video editor.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think what I don't like is the price, it seems to me that if it were a few dollars cheaper it would be perfect. I would also like some kind of internal chat to be offered to communicate with your team members.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Without a doubt, the option to share video and audio files with all the members of my team is the most valuable part of LucidLink. It makes all the processes much faster and, therefore, the delivery times for our clients are improved.

The ability to scale

  • May 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Having LucidLink in our workflow allows our team to collaborate and scale in a way we had never been able to before.
What do you dislike about the product?
There was certainly a learning/technical curve to getting the system to function properly. It took a bit of trial and error to get each user to understand the system and how to setup their machine/preferences for it to work properly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We run a small media production company that typically work on a per-project basis. We don't maintain a large internal staff but instead rely on contractors to scale up or down to meet our needs in any given moment. This was extremely challenging before implementing LucidLink because of how complex file management and handoff would be. Now that its become such a central piece of our process, we are easily able to collaborate on projects even when staff are spread around the country.

Good Cloud storage replacement for File Servers

  • May 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
LucidLink is a good replacement for on-premise file servers. It is faster than using a VPN for accessing on-premise file servers. It has excellent Snapshot and restoring features. It scales very well.
What do you dislike about the product?
LucidLink lacks the collaboration features of Microsoft Office apps used in SharePoint and OneDrive. LucidLink files can't be shared with external parties. LucidLink has zero Account support and can be expensive if you have a lot of users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Replaces on-premise file servers

By adopting LucidLink our Creatives were able to collaborate across all of our sites with ease.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
With LucidLink we no longer have to worry about files being copied to peoples computers to be worked on as they can work and share the files all from one location.
What do you dislike about the product?
The need to enable the system extension on the Mac version
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have multiple sites and syncing files between sites was a nightmare, LucidLink solved this.

Changes the way I work and has freed me from the office.

  • May 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like having control of who uses what media. I like that I can use editors in different countires without having to send drives. I can start and online a project in one workspace. Pinning fress me from the office. I found it very easy to set up and tech support is top notch.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to be able to send out links to non Lucid members, links to download and links to receive would be great. Having said that I wouldn't want too many features. F
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Removing the kernal extension.

Hybrid working game changer

  • May 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The team have the same digital working experience regardless of their physical geography
What do you dislike about the product?
Having the original filespace data and snapshots on the same storage
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having a remote file server which is fast and responsive enough to make it unnecessary for team members to save and work on files locally, to ensure a single point of truth model. Stops (>almost< entirely) having shadow IT – no linked files saying 'file missing – on X or Y desktop'

Simply having a shared 'live' fileserver garner more of a sense of team collaboration, rather than individuals, working separately and uploading finished files to a holding space.

Easy collaboration – sharing links to files which immediately open the folder containing the file, no more tiring, complicated file paths that need to be manually followed

seamless integration with editing workflows

  • May 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I've been using it every day since two year ago. What I like the most is that once it’s installed and configured, it works transparently, consistently and is easy to use it. Customer support experience is good and fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don’t like the data transfer fees — I believe other platforms handle this better. External storage configuration is also difficult unless you’re an IT specialist. Depending on the workflow, it’s not easy to integrate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Lucid as a cloud-based alternative to store and share Avid projects, but it doesn´t solve our problem with online storage for footage
