Works great for smaller files but larger files bogs down the system
What do you like best about the product?
LucidLink makes sharing files and folders with remote workers very easy, especially those files that are growing during a live event. The files can live in your own S3 bucket and show up as a network drive for remote workers. These files can easily be dropped into Adobe Premiere and edited with. The file will continue to grow within Premiere as the file grows within the S3 bucket. This does allow a company to save travel costs by keeping remote editors where they are instead of bringing them on site.
The smoothness of the video playback and scrubbing is pretty good for files under 150GB. The experience is very similar to editing with the file on a local server.
Setting up a Lucid Link platform for both admins and users was very easy. The rights management system of who has access what is easy to manage as well. The Lucid Link customer support team are very knowledgeable and have great personalities.

What do you dislike about the product?
While LucidLink can easily can handle files up to 150GB anything over that and I am experiencing delayed playback times and scrubbing. At my house I have a 500mbps fiber connection and I am experiencing these issues. Maybe on a faster connection 1GB-3GB connection you wouldn't have this. Most remote editors would probably be editing from their homes and most of the population doesn't have an internet connection in the 1GB-3GB range. Most are less than 500mbps.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows our remote editors not to travel on site when we have events which saves travel costs and time.
Effortless cloud collaboration with incredible speed.
What do you like best about the product?
LucidLink has completely changed the way our team works remotely. Files are instantly accessible without the need for downloads, and syncing across users is seamless. It's fast, reliable, and perfect for large media projects that require real-time access.
What do you dislike about the product?
There’s a bit of a learning curve at the beginning, especially when configuring for team use across different operating systems. But once it's set up, it runs smoothly and becomes second nature. Occasional network hiccups can slow things briefly, but nothing major.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
LucidLink solves the challenge of remote file access and collaboration on large media projects. Instead of waiting for massive files to download or syncing delays, I can stream files instantly, no matter where I am. This has drastically improved our team’s productivity and allowed real-time collaboration across locations without relying on traditional cloud storage or physical drives.
Lucidlink classic works better than anything i have ever worked with before
What do you like best about the product?
Overall the product works quite seemlessly, when it's on a fast connection, it's virtually as if i have my footage drives plugged in, but with the added benefit of not having very much local.
What do you dislike about the product?
Whenever my cache drive fills up, it seems to struggle. I un pin things, but the cacheing becomes incredibly slow, and i end up finding myself formatting my drive to fresh, or else it basically becomes unusable. I would really like an archive feature as well. Having to manually move folders i havent touched to a less expensive filespace for storage is a pain in the a, and it would be much easier to just have an archive button.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We no longer need to have tons of harddrive backups like we used to. We can re-use our shoot drives as well, saving us money.
I have used it to collaborate on heavy VFX projects, sharing shots across the world with VFX artists
What do you like best about the product?
I really like how easy it is to onboard someone and to have them start work almost immediately. It feels like magic.
What do you dislike about the product?
On slower connections I notice the issue with uploading material. We are missing the ability to prioritise certain files, so I had to wait all day for someone to upload 30gb of footage to access the 3kb text file that uploaded last.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It makes it easier to share files without having to set something to upload. People can instantly access the entire drive of contents and collaborate.
Lucid has increased productivity in our video pipeline by making hard drives obsolete
What do you like best about the product?
Being able to collaborate on video footage without having to carry around 10+ different footage drives or call into a slow work server. The speed that i can access the footage is quick and i don't see any slow to the time of rendering. Lucid is used every day in all of our processes for projects and easily integrates/implements when signing on new people. From experience, the onboarding from the lucid team was informative and easy, running multiple sessions and answered all questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only think i would count would be not being able to use certain features on the legacy version of lucid link. But upgrading would solve this issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lucid is solving the local storage issue that we has a department were facing. Carrying the 3rd backup of a shoot drive times by how many ongoing projects there were.
Migrating to Lucid Link
What do you like best about the product?
Customer support is always quick and able to provide the answer you need.
It's very user friendly, migrating from Google Drive to Lucid was very easy.
We use it constantly on our consultancy and its worked great.
The snapshot feature is very useful to recover unsaved files, avoiding the risk of loss of work.

What do you dislike about the product?
The installation process, specially on Macs is very hit or miss, sometimes I've had to uninstall and install more than once for the program to be used.
There should be a way to access your files on the go, if I'm not with my laptop I can't access it and it's very inconvenient at times.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quick sync with users. Makes collaborative work seamless.
Streamlining the process of remote Grading
What do you like best about the product?
We implemented LucidLink to allow our Colourists to work away from the facility. The ease of implementation and usage and the ability to seamlessly integrate into DaVinci Resolve allowed our Colourists to keep working to the same level, outside of our facility.
Without the need for sending our shuttle drives every time there is an update, our team could hit the ground running on new jobs the minute they came in.

What do you dislike about the product?
As with any cloud based product, being able to set hard limits on usage as an Administrator is always a lot better than having the floodgates wide open for operators to use what they like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allowing our artists to work remotely, whilst everyone is accessing the same media
Great for Team and Vendor Collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
We are using LucidLink as our main IO platform for media and file sharing between our internal team members as well as with our external vendors.
It's so simple to use and their is so little admin required for setting up new crew/vendor personnel.
We simply create a new folder, add the user with appropriate permissions and we're away.
So far we haven't had any issues with access, or download speeds, even with very large transfer packages.
Our experience has been so smooth that we adapted our pipeline to use Lucid as our main IO pathway.

What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing in particular that we don't like about Lucid.
There are a few features that we would like to see added but in our communications with the tech team it sounds like the majority of these are on the roadmap for future versions.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data storage and transfer between internal teams that are based in locations around the world, as well as with External Vendors
Collaboration made easy
What do you like best about the product?
LucidLink allows for connection without the old school methods of copying to a drive or having multiple copies across editors. With a single source of media, you know where your media is. Permissions access control allow for greater flexibility when working with Freelancers and being able to spin up and spin down as you need the resource.
What do you dislike about the product?
Using the classic LucidLink means having to install Kernel Extensions, but this has been fixed with the new version!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allowing collaboration with team members wherever they are globally. Instant connections with a reduction in upload and downloading time.
Great Software for all users
What do you like best about the product?
As an administrator, the thing i like the most is the scalability of the software. The users are able to use file at the same time and do not need to download them as other software will require
What do you dislike about the product?
Lucidlink needs a great connectivity speed. As an administrator we often receive complains about the slowness that might be cause by ISP and not by the software itself
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
LucidLink has really solved the challenge of working with large files remotely for my team. Now we can quickly access and collaborate on documents in real time, without having to download everything first. It’s made it so much easier to work together, even when we’re in different locations, and it saves us a lot of time.
