Solid file storage/access for indie VFX workflow
What do you like best about the product?
We used LucidLink Classic with the Wasabi server. We had almost zero issues with file storage. It felt like Dropbox but would automatically download whatever I needed to work on as I needed it = very convenient! It worked great on mac and PC. We used over 25 users in the same pool of about 10TB storage.
What do you dislike about the product?
There were a couple of outages and one lost file but it was a Wasabi storage error and not LucidLink. They helped me figure out what happened and helped with user configurations as well if needed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Great file storage that is solid like Dropbox but quick/simple for creatives (VFX Artists)
A great product for remote team collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
I use it to share production files for Premiere Productions, which means me and a colleague can seamlessly be working in the same files even though we're in different locations. We both use it every work day.
What do you dislike about the product?
A larger storage capacity for the starter price bracket would be useful. We're just two people working on a independent feature film.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My colleague and I work in different locations, and we wanted to use Premiere Productions and just have one Productions file we can both access. I didn't want us to be sending transfer project files back and forth, making things messy and potentially files getting damaged.
Best
What do you like best about the product?
I use LucidLink every day, and have had minimal issues with it as far as downtime, crashing, etc. Customer service has been very helpful. When we first got the product, we had a lengthy and informative onboarding process, and it enabled us to really hit the ground running. We were quick to switch over and integrate, and it was easy to get the hang of how to implement a work stream that works for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
We switched recently from Legacy to a Team account, and I don't think the upgrades to the UI necessarily helped the overall experience.
• They combined share links and review links, and in doing so, made it much more difficult to custom order clips.
• Things default to having "status" turned on and even if you turn it off and "set as default," that doesn't turn it off.
• I recently have been having latency issues and when I contacted customer support, they told me, "I can see that significant latency is often reported on the connection. LucidLink relies on fast internet speeds with low latency. Here you can find out more about the connection quality and its impact on LucidLink as well as practical advice on how to optimise the operational environment" (that's all verbatim from the email), but then they sent me a dead link. I navigated through the website, found what they were referring to, and it was unhelpful, so my issue persists.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our biggest need was something where we can review progress of cuts with each other and with the client. I think this does a great job of that, but when switching to the new version of LucidLink, I think we lost a lot of the link customization options we had before.
We are a small agency and I think there are a lot of options that would be helpful for bigger places or people making major motion pictures, but how it was before was more helpful to our needs than where it is now.

Impressive new technology
What do you like best about the product?
Lucid Link makes collaboration via the cloud feel as if your colleague is in the next room on the same file server.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pinning mecanism is take some getting used to and having two versions of Lucid Link is confusing. Also it would help me as a professional postproducion trainer to be able to add 20 seats for a week or the period of the training and not for a longer period.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quick reliable collaboration via the cloud for postproduction workflows with Adobe video tools.
Use LucidLink daily for several months and am satisfied. However, there are still hurdles.
What do you like best about the product?
Uncomplicated use. Integration into the Finder. Modern look/UI. Performance. Customer support good and fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price is high, especially if you want to use LucidLink as the only file space. Installation of LucidLink Classic is quite cumbersome on Mac devices. Mobile use is not yet well possible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It should be collaborated with ease and high performance, especially remotely. That works well. Adding and removing temporarily collaborating people (freelancers) is also great. We don't have a strong IT department in the company, so an uncomplicated cloud solution is better in most cases than a maintenance-intensive server solution.
Excelent for very large files
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about LucidLink is how seamlessly it lets our team work with large files as if they were stored locally, without the usual delays of syncing or downloading. The new version 3.0 has addressed many of the limitations we previously noticed — performance is faster, file management is smoother, and collaboration feels effortless. The platform is reliable, easy to use, and keeps getting better with every release.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn’t much to dislike, but some advanced management features were missing in earlier versions. For example, user permissions and large folder operations could feel limited before version 3.0. Fortunately, the latest update has addressed many of these gaps, and the roadmap looks very promising for closing the remaining ones.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
LucidLink solves the challenge of working with very large files across distributed teams. Instead of wasting time downloading or syncing heavy assets, our team can stream and collaborate on them instantly, no matter where we are. This has significantly improved our productivity, reduced delays in project delivery, and allowed us to centralize our file management without investing in complex on-premises infrastructure.
Good not great
What do you like best about the product?
I can see LucidLink trying to solve a problem within the industry, however, other solutions like BlackMagic Cloud and Google Drive provide a much faster and reliable connection (based on my feedback and tech support inquires with Lucid team).
What do you dislike about the product?
The slow servers in Hong Kong are not a great thing for a stable connection. For example, I was able to download 200 GB files via Google Drive in about 15 mins unto my system, but using LucidLink the same 200 GB files took over 9 hours. However, it is a regional issue, and I dislike that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not really sure, there are many solutions.
Connectivity and Usability at its Best in LucidLink
What do you like best about the product?
I like the connectivity of LucidLink and its interface. It is very easy to access the platform, which makes downloading the uploaded material much easier. Additionally, the user interface is very intuitive and beautiful. The initial setup was very simple and took me between 5-7 minutes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Over the time I have used the platform, I have realized that it would be great to be able to limit the use of workspace space, in order to better manage economic expenses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use LucidLink for my editing workflow, it solves the delivery of material to the editors and improves the speed of the connection. Its interface is very intuitive and beautiful, facilitating access and download of the material.
The ability to scale
What do you like best about the product?
Having LucidLink in our workflow allows our team to collaborate and scale in a way we had never been able to before.
What do you dislike about the product?
There was certainly a learning/technical curve to getting the system to function properly. It took a bit of trial and error to get each user to understand the system and how to setup their machine/preferences for it to work properly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We run a small media production company that typically work on a per-project basis. We don't maintain a large internal staff but instead rely on contractors to scale up or down to meet our needs in any given moment. This was extremely challenging before implementing LucidLink because of how complex file management and handoff would be. Now that its become such a central piece of our process, we are easily able to collaborate on projects even when staff are spread around the country.
Good Cloud storage replacement for File Servers
What do you like best about the product?
LucidLink is a good replacement for on-premise file servers. It is faster than using a VPN for accessing on-premise file servers. It has excellent Snapshot and restoring features. It scales very well.
What do you dislike about the product?
LucidLink lacks the collaboration features of Microsoft Office apps used in SharePoint and OneDrive. LucidLink files can't be shared with external parties. LucidLink has zero Account support and can be expensive if you have a lot of users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Replaces on-premise file servers
