It is a game-changer for Adobe Premiere Editors
What do you like best about the product?
LucidLink really is seamless for file-sharing within an Adobe Premiere workflow, especially to leverage the power of Productions in a remote environment. Acts just like a local attached drive. The quasi-streaming works just as advertised, you barely ever know that you are working with remote files. It's that fast and nearly-invisible. Combining it with Premiere's proxy workflow (and selecting a small enough proxy format) allows even team members on slow systems to collaborate effectively. There are flexible ways to work. The basic plan is incredibly inexpensive for what it offers.
It takes some thoughtfulness to plan your backup strategies, as LucidLink becomes your source of "truth" for all your media. The tutorial videos are excellent but sometimes hard to find the one that speaks to your need. Tech support is excellent.

What do you dislike about the product?
I did run into three issues you should be aware of (Tech support is working with me on this).
1. If you are on a Mac and have filenames that have illegal characters in Windows (question marks, trailing blanks, etc.) LucidLink will give an error and stop uploading your files. You have to manually find each illegal file on your local drive and then re-do the upload. There is a way to turn this illegal charactor restriction off, but that would not be advised in a cross-platform Mac/Win collaboration.
2. The basic plan uses a backend cloudserver vendor that sometimes speed-throttles the initial upload if you have a lot of large video files. It's not at all an issue for editing, just for the first-time upload of assets. Either upload overnight or jump to the next service tier, which tech support tells me doesn't have that issue.
3. I ran into a problem where a few folders did not fully upload to LL during initial upload. Missing files in LL, but no error messages. Tech Support says that's not normal and we are working on the issue. I ended up manually comparing folder sizes and uploading the individual files within any folders that had not fully uploaded.

What do you like best about the product?
LucidLink is an easy to set-up and easy-to-use filespace system. We use it to host a vast amount of always-available files in a live environment and to backup the same. We have never faced any downtime. The files are accesible natively and we have never had latency or reliability issues. I would strongly recommend LucidLink,
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing to dislike so far. Everything works as promised
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reliable environment for massive cloud storage at an incredible price. It solves a lot of problems for my business.
LucidLink for remote team is an excellent solution
What do you like best about the product?
The client that caches files makes the perception that the network and file access if fast for those using LL.
What do you dislike about the product?
Better backup options are needed, requiring on-premise storage to ensure backup reliability.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Network latency for remote users accessing files.
An awesome solution for video editing
What do you like best about the product?
The fact I can have rushes uploaded from an international location and useable and editable directly in Premiere Pro in another country or location is game-changing. It's become an integral part of our production workflow, allowing us to share footage and projects with remote editors instantly. Featuring robust user settings you can give access to individual projects or groups of edits to the people who need them with the flexibility to update permissions on the fly. It's super easy to integrate LucidLink into your production workflow and if you have any issues their customer support is second to none, we've always got someone on hand to help us navigate any issues we've faced. With its ease of implementation, you'll be sure to use this system all the time, not just for one-off projects as the backbone of your production studio.
What do you dislike about the product?
Its quite hard to fault the system, the only downfalls you'll face are based on the internet connection you have however Lucid has some inbuilt features that work in the background to minimise the impact these bottlenecks would have on using the system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to deploy remote editors on any active project is so liberating. Not having to courier drives saves so much on cost of hardware and transportation, you can add an editor to the project space and within two emails they're up an running on a project saving time and money.
LucidLink reduces complexity and ensures security
What do you like best about the product?
I like that LucidLink takes care of all the heavy lifting in terms of setting up a robust cloud sharing platform. I literally install and work. It can't get any simpler
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike nothing about the platform, I just wish more people were using it so collaboration would be eaiser for new users to trust.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing live video editing isn't reliable with other cloud storage solutions. LucidLink streamlines the sharing of large video assets with ease.
Fantastic solution!
What do you like best about the product?
The most critical thing about LucidLink is that it give us one point of contact for our footage and edit project. It solves the biggest logistical headache when it comes to using remote workers on our projects. Not far behind is the security of knowing that we don' t have to send our footage out and we can control who has access to projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only issues we have with LucidLink are related to quality of internet access to projects. Unfortunately we are at the mercy of users internet access, and while it is better than a lot of systems, we still have to navigate the inconsistent service layer for each user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As stated right at the top, the biggest solve is that it gives us one point of contact for our projects. The security of not having to send our footage out is also very useful.
Efficient and secure way to support remote workflows across various Creative Tools
What do you like best about the product?
Control of user access to only assigned shares and projects. The ability to mantain control of data and content while enabling shared workflows.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cleanup of old trashed folders when end users hand on to data\trahses.
Inability to provide vendors, clients an "FTP" link to upload content to our shares without onboarding them as users.
Inability to provide vendors, clients an "FTP" link to upload content to our shares without onboarding them as users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hybrid workflows while mantaining Security compliances like SOC & TPN as well as NDA agreements with clients.
Great, but not without issues
What do you like best about the product?
It makes my job easy, and saves time constantly
What do you dislike about the product?
Better integration with creative programs. Lucid link is so good that they should have partnerships with these programs to work better
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sending files to editors, losing access to projects
Great file storage for collaborating team
What do you like best about the product?
Once set up LucidLink is great for storing our files on the cloud so they're accessible at all times. We have a large number of projects and assets and the speed is great when uploading and accessing projects compared to our previous set up. For a small team like us the price is great for what you get
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I think LucidLink might be missing is a way to share a specific file/folder location with someone externally as we would currently have to create a new user and get them to install LucidLink on their own computer. There are times we need to share large amounts of assets with an external source once off, we end up having to use other means to provide the files, but I appreciate this might not be the easiest to implement currently
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps us store our project files so we can access them at the workplace and home/on the go. Its very quick when setting up new projects and managing assets and collaborating
Designed with media operations in mind - and opens up so many possibilities.
What do you like best about the product?
It works in such a seamless way with all of our applications and media - to the extent that you simply forget that it is providing a very easy and simple cloud workflow - with all of the benefits and none of the challenges that this approach traditionally provides.
I really should mention the quality of customer support - it is the best third party support for any technology I have used.
I really should mention the quality of customer support - it is the best third party support for any technology I have used.
What do you dislike about the product?
There aren't really any downsides. I suppose price would be one for many - but it is very reasonable when you factor in how much time it is saving.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing and collaboration of media assets.
Syncing of data - with an simple interface for users.
The main benefit we experience is the saving of time and the increase in collaboration across our media departments.
