KnowBe4 and PhishER

  • May 12, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We use the Phish Alert Button as an Outlook plug-in that allows users to report suspect email with one click. These reported emails then go into PhishER where I can review them. These reported emails are usually categorized and scanned, but I have to look at and label a few manually.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I get a little confused while working in the console interface to determine if an email is already rated or if the system is waiting for me to take action.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allows us to categorize email scams and phishing attempts to educate our staff better on email threats.

PhisherER has a user intuitive Gui

  • May 12, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the GUI that PhishER uses, it is easy and intuitive. When users report a "phishy" email, the administrator will see the email come through, the rules that are created by the administrator will decide what happens to that email next.
What do you dislike about the product?
The downside is that PhishER is unable to be used to create a custom query to search o365. I have encountered phish emails that were forwarded and not reported by button and it would be nice if they can be ripped out
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PhishER solves the manpower issue where otherwise a company would need somebody to monitor emails and manually remove the reported emails from the platrofrm being used.

PhishER gives you the tools to help manage both real phishing emails as well as simulated ones.

What do you like best about the product?
- Ease of use and implementation
- Phish Report button allows for a straightforward way for end-users to report what they believe to be a Phishing email
- PhishRip allows you to quickly quarantine a mass phishing email on campus. Quicker than the built in Microsot tools
What do you dislike about the product?
I really would like to see some sort of whitelist and blacklist setup in the console so we can manually assign certain addresses and domains as clean/risky. Also, email alerts can be a little slow at times
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
An easy way for end-users to report suspicious emails and also gives IT the ability to quarantine risky emails in our enviorment utilizing PhishRip.

It it benefiting IT in that we are spending less time on getting these risky emails out of people's inboxes and less time explaining to end-users if a particular email is suspicious or legitamate

Mostly good but a little unreliable

  • May 06, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The Phish Rip has come in hand a lot of times. We use this frequently for spam or just poorly thought out emails people regret sending. Automatedly handling some items that come in too
What do you dislike about the product?
PhishRip sometimes just does not find all the emails. Sometimes we have to make several of the same query to get all the emails or it will get the email but not the replies to it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
automatedly checking items that are reported to see if they were legitimate email and let the user know that they were

Phish ER and Phish RIP: great tools to protect our team!

  • May 05, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of our C-level leaders reported a phish which contained 47 trojans. I appreciate that each phish can be reviewed and ripped from the mailboxes of others in the company.
What do you dislike about the product?
I want additional options when creating queries to quarantine the messages. It would be great if we could see who else received the email, especially when ripping it from the inboxes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PhishER is helping create a better human firewall. KnowBe4 training helps our users see potential risks and PhishER provides an opportunity for them to DO something about their suspicions.

PhishER Automates identification of the bad Phish!

  • May 05, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Significantly reduces the time spent reviewing reported emails and frees the security team to perform higher-value work.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing stands out; the security team has been pleased with the tool and frequency of updates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Time. Users are beginning to report more emails as potential Phishing, which was consuming a significant amount of time by the security team. Using PhishER reduces the amount of time they spend drastically, freeing them to focus on higher valuer work.

We started small but it has worked well.

  • May 05, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We started with a small group of users that we felt would be most likely to bennefit from PhishER. It has helped teach our users to spot phishing attempts. It seems to guide the user as they increasingly use the function.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some users flag everything as phishing but eventually learn to spot what is and what is not a potential phishing email.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is helping our users to properly spot potential Phishing emails.

Helpful if you need to manually process emails

  • May 05, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
For manual processing, the PhishML Confidence rankings are helpful for a start to determining category manually. The interface overall for manually determining the disposition of an email is helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface for manually processing the disposition of an email has some quirks. Once you know what those quirks are, then it consistently works as expected. If you don't know the quirks, then you'll be frustrated and might even choose to not bother with manually processing emails. For example, review the info about the email and the PhishML Confidence rankings, then set the Category, then Run an action, THEN set the Status (don't set the Category, set the status to Resolved, and then Run an action because it will set the Status back to Received or In Review--but that is the way the UI is laid out, so you would think top-to-bottom order process).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When users flag suspicious emails using the Phish Alert Button (PAB), some of the emails are resolved by PhishER automatically. However, many require manual intervention. The manual review interface is helpful for determining whether an email should be trusted or not or just ignored.

Keeping our network safe from phishing attacks.

Automation for responding to the most common cyber threat

  • May 05, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
PhishER is a force multiplier for our lean InfoSec staff. It helps us automate processes around responding to reports of phishing. The best feature for us is the ability to use built-in ML to apply a score to a reported message with a comfort level that it's malicious. We can then automatically use the PhishRIP feature to scan all users' inboxes for the same or similar messages and automatically permanently delete those from M365/Exchange. The ability to create custom rules and actions gives us a high-level of hands-off automation.
What do you dislike about the product?
For my team, any dislikes about PhishER are more minor challenges than anything, and we've always gotten prompt support whenever we encountered anything that didn't work as expected.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to create custom rules and then apply automated response to reported messages means that our Security staff can spend their time doing other things rather than being buried in the never-ending sea of phishing that is unfortunately the reality of our experience.
