Flexible Content Management with a Learning Curve, But Worth the Effort
What do you like best about the product?
Canto has allowed my team to organize our content in a way that makes sense for us and our customers who have access to our Brand Portal. I enjoy the ability to tag, keyword, and cross assign assets to multiple folders where needed, instead of having to upload the same file several times in different folders.
What do you dislike about the product?
There can be a bit of a learning curve in terms of best-practices on how to best organize your content, but their webinars and new updates have made it more self-explanatory. It's not a one-size-fits-all, but if you put in the strategy and work to create a system that works best for you, it will be beneficial.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to create a Brand Portal for our customers to be able to access select content from us to utilize when they represent our company has been very helpful. Distributors can take our logos, colors, and brand imagery to represent our products in their stores so that they represent our brand how we would like them to.
Excellent DAM with Impressive AI, but New Look Takes Getting Used To
What do you like best about the product?
My favorite feature is AI, facial recognition mostly. Overall I find canto to be an excellent DAM system.
What do you dislike about the product?
I’m not used to the new look, I need to familiarize myself with it but I find myself using the older version still.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto makes it simple for everyone in the institution to access photos and other documentation. I appreciate how straightforward it is to add data for each upload, as the platform allows for easy navigation, movement, and corrections when needed.
Solid Asset Management, Needs UX Improvements
What do you like best about the product?
I find Canto incredibly useful as a digital asset manager for our organization, as it helps with storing not just photos, but also documents, fonts, brand guidelines, and PDFs, which goes beyond mere photography. The ease of use is a major plus; despite some initial challenges with clunky UX, I figured it out pretty seamlessly after a few months. I particularly enjoy how it solves storage issues by consolidating documents and photos, making it easier to find images and documents quickly. Additionally, I appreciate its capacity for managing digital assets without worrying about internal storage since everything remains digital. I also find the overall user experience to be clear and clean-cut, as it addresses my needs efficiently without requiring me to research or consider other options.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the user experience somewhat clunky, especially when it comes to organizing files. Having to add everything to albums is confusing and I wish there was an option for just one broad category. The drag and drop feature is particularly frustrating as it often isn't visible and is difficult to use, making moving photos challenging. Additionally, performing tasks like sharing an album link can be cumbersome, requiring too many steps.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use the product to solve storage issues, allowing easy and quick access to documents and images in one digital place, eliminating clutter and time searching for files.
Flexible Album Setup and Easy Asset Updates
What do you like best about the product?
I like how you can set up albums for different means and usages, and update assets to the same link.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't think I use it as much as I'd like to pinpoint what I don't like about Canto, but one note is when I add an asset to multiple folders, say I have 3 different brands but each have the same folder name, I can't tell which one is for which brand when I search it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping with sharing multiple versions of the same asset to the same link so no on has outdated access!
Effortless Photo Tagging and Search—A Breath of Fresh Air
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to tag photos as we add them, and then actually be able to find them via the search function. I have had experiences with multiple other digital asset managers in the past where the search function was nearly useless and it is incredibly frustrating.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much. there was some difficulty at first when it came to making "shared boards" where we can add photos that non-members could access and share around. We kept having members access revoked or non-members not able to access boards that they should. Customer service was eventually able to work it out with us, however.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hosting the thousands of photos we have and continue to add to in a way that makes them convenient and easily accessible.
Efficient Image Management for Colleges, Awaiting UI Refresh
What do you like best about the product?
We have a large images database and with Canto we are able to sort each and every image for our 40+ colleges.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI sometimes feels outdated and we are looking forward to the updated one.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Over decades we have aquired a large images and videos database across college and universities which is sitting at different location and teams. Canto has been a life saver in bringing it all together and make it useful for geographically diverse teams of ours.
Effortless DAM System—No Training Needed for Partners
What do you like best about the product?
The best part is I dont need to upskill external partners to use our DAM system, as everything is really straight forward. I like the customer support, they answer all my question no time.
What do you dislike about the product?
As an Admin the learning curve is steep, there is a lot of settings (dam, portal, workplace, settings, tags, keywords etc) and a lot of rules and mechanics and the setting part after a year still confusing sometimes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are creating classroom based and eLearnings, managing over 2000 different training. For maintenance sometimes we lost all the original sourcefiles, forced us to recreate the whole learning from scratch . Also we had no chance to share/show our assets to an external developer, so sometime we paid for a content or animation again.
Efficient asset management, but plugins and portals need improvement
What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can quickly find and edit assets within Canto for my everyday web content. I also love its extensive tagging and category options. Customer support is often super helpful!
What do you dislike about the product?
Integration into other apps via plugins is mediocre at best, and the portal function really needs some updates. The approval process is fine, but could be streamlined.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto helps me keep assets updated, following data protection rules and tracking asset use across the organisation.
Efficient, User-Friendly, and Reliable
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about canto is how quickly you are able to view assets once you've uploaded them. The search works really well, and there's loads of time saving features like AI tagging and creating upload links so that our photographers can upload directly into the system. It's been very straight-forward to implement and it's naturally integrated in our workflow. We use Canto most days and its reliable and does a great job of helping us find the right images so we can focus on design. On a few occasions where we've needed additional support, the customer support has been excellent and you feel valued as a customer.
What do you dislike about the product?
Like any big business, they are led by their clients and build their platform in response to the different scales and requirements that they need. As a smaller use case, some of the new features like Brand Studio look amazing, but they aren't realistic for us as our requirements are weighted differently to the different packages they offer. In an ideal world I'd love to see a basic package with one admin, then the option to add additional template and exports so that it works for our use case.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto saves us a lot of time and replaces several tedious admin tasks. We've shaped our whole workflow around using the upload links with our Photographers. Images are now captured at an event, uploaded directly to Canto, automatically tagged, then approved by our administrators. No chasing WeTransfer links that have expired, or asked for things to be reuploaded - it saves us a lot of time!
Portal Feature Boosts Organization and Adoption of Materials
What do you like best about the product?
The Portal feature is the most useful for our business. Being able to sort and show assets in multiple portals as the needs of different areas of the business dictate is incredibly useful.
The way the system handles duplicates and allowing to see and view similar files easily is also a feature we use regularly and helps to keep things organised and tidy across our remote teams.
The way the system handles duplicates and allowing to see and view similar files easily is also a feature we use regularly and helps to keep things organised and tidy across our remote teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI of Canto can sometimes feel a little dated, but the usability of it is very good, so doesn't impact too much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working remotely as a marketing team, it's vital that we have all of our marketing assets organised and searchable for all. A large, global sales team also needs access to a range of materials, and being able to create portals for easy access, update files without creating new links, and seeing version history makes all this possible.
