A More Collaborative Space
What do you like best about the product?
My company recently migrated from Extensis Portfolio to Canto. Canto has offered a better collaborative space for users and clients. We have both local and remote employees, so sharing assets between team members comes easy with Canto. Sharing assets for clients to review has been simplified as well - no more hard drives or long upload and download times to file sharing platforms. As we continue to use it, I see daily users becoming more comfortable using the tool as a single source of truth and navigating the DAM platform as a self-service. As someone who is on the Administrative side of Canto, I love the reporting feature and download feature to show what assets are acually being used and engaged with.
It can be a bit daunting migrating to a new platform, but Canto's implementation team made it easy. With weekly dedicated check-ins and responsiveness to questions outside of those meetings, as well as user on-boarding, Canto's implementation team set up our DAM so we can confidently use it. Their customer support is also just as responsive and great to work with if and when needed.

What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see assets assigned to portals by asset rather than by folder. Also, the boolean search aspect doesn't work for something like project/job numbers, so I can't search two jobs at the same time and populate assets from those projects. Maybe a manual boolean search aspect would be nice in order to generate assets from two different jobs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's solving asset-sharing with third parties and clients, and internal collaboration since we have both local and remote employees.

What do you dislike about the product?
Not easy to learn how to use without proper training.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need a solution to host our assets and be able to share with stakeholders. This provides the software we need to do this.
Easiest product for passing along assets I have ever used.
What do you like best about the product?
Allows tags, easy to use, seemless user integration.
What do you dislike about the product?
Yet to find a single thing that is wrong with this program.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Large image assets need to be passed along to others and the storage limits prevent this.
Administrator who learned, revamped and built upload processes in Canto for 2023.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the amount of data that can be captured and that items are easily customizable for my area of the business. I was quickly able to learn the program and apply the changes needed to get out assets sorted properly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was more of a consumer facing option built in to the process. I learned recently that this is possible, but feel that the library should only be visible on the backend and the "consumer" experience should be simplified as the standard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto organizes our event photography during weekend-long events. An on-site editor uploads imagery on-site, tags and sorts. We have a database of imagery for the entire organization.
Top-of-the-line digital asset management tool
What do you like best about the product?
I like that Canto makes it so easy to upload, organize, and find digital assets for our marketing communications department. Canto has become our go-to resource for storing, organizing, and maintaining a library of images and videos for our marketing needs that can be easily accessed and managed from anywhere at any time.
What do you dislike about the product?
I honestly can't think of any downsides to Canto. It would be nice if our freelance talent could use the software, but that is an organizational decision, not a reflection on Canto.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto gives our marketing department a resource that is simple to use and organizes our vast library of digital assets with limitless storage capabilities and easy access for all employees whether working in the office, remotely, or at a conference or event.
User friendly, easy to navigate, work simplifying tool.
What do you like best about the product?
The best feature for me is being able to duplicate items in different folders and them automatically updating when one item is updated. Saves you so much time and hassle having to not worry as much about version control.
What do you dislike about the product?
Thumbnails having to be replaced when new material has been uploaded
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto is solving the issue of having all our content being in one place that is easy to share with clients. It also solves the issue of version control as with our previous method this required people to archive items and let to confusion about what version was the most current.

What do you dislike about the product?
While Canto has many strengths, I've encountered some challenges with its performance speed. I've noticed that the system can be quite slow, especially when uploading or accessing larger files. This can be frustrating when working against tight deadlines as it sometimes hangs without loading, disrupting the workflow. Additionally, I find that during peak usage times, the response time further decreases, which suggests that the platform's current infrastructure may not be fully optimized for high traffic or heavy data loads. These performance issues are the main downside I've experienced with Canto, and they can detract from the efficiency and user satisfaction that the system otherwise provides.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto is solving several key problems related to digital asset management. Here's how it benefits us, particularly focusing on asset storage:
1) Centralization of Assets: Canto serves as a single source of truth for all digital assets, which means less time is spent searching for files across different platforms or storage solutions. This centralization has been a significant efficiency booster.
2) Access Control: With Canto, managing who has access to what assets is streamlined, enhancing security and ensuring that only authorized personnel can view or edit sensitive files.
3) Organization: The tagging and categorization features in Canto help keep assets organized. This means faster retrieval times and less duplication of work, as it's easier to find and repurpose existing assets.
4) Version Control: Canto’s version control capabilities ensure that the latest versions of assets are always at hand, reducing the risk of errors associated with using outdated files.
5) Collaboration: By allowing multiple users to access and work with assets simultaneously, Canto facilitates better collaboration within teams, even when members are working remotely.

Better than dropbox

Easy to use, streamlines the organization/tagging process, better features than dropbox, more easily accessible compared to connecting to a personal/work server remotely etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes have issues with Wordpress connectivity.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Large amounts of photos for work every week that need to be accesible to several colleagues at one time. Great way for everyone to be kept in the loop and have the option to search using tags.
