Canto DAM

  • December 22, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The DAM is easy to setup and manage. The user portal is fast with a responsive layout. I reviewed and tested a bunch of DAM solutions before recommending Canto for our company. We built a custom integration with our storefront and Canto makes it easy to add and organize the images.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the email notification would allow more branding/customization. It would also be nice to see how much space was used for specific folders. I would like to be able to save videos out in multiple formats.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a way to integrate with our storefront and display assets within a customer's site. We built a custom integration that looks good on our site and is easy to manage in Canto

The ability to customize and make Canto work for the needs of your team!
What do you dislike about the product?
Canto is a great tool! Overall the only downside is that it may lack some bells and whistles, but that's not really a downside in comparison to the value you are receiving over other DAM softwares.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto has been a great tool for increased cross-functional partnership!

Dynamic, User-Friendly, Life-changing!

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The user-friendly nature of the platform, coupled with the customization and security built-in at every level of the system keeps us in control of our assets at all times, enabling both security and shareability.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is little to dislike about the Canto platform. With the division of the user levels between Administrator, Collaborator, and Consumer, with permissions that can further
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving the never-ending problem of the creation and storage of large numbers of digital assets ranging from documents to video. We are using Canto as a functional archive to supplement our PR/Communications and institutional needs.

The benefit of having a platform like canto is the dynamic searchability, the ease in attributing metadata (both batch and individually), and the numerous options to share our assets internally and externally. The ease of use enables us to bring staff on with minimal training, and the backbone of the platform is the security in collaboration that is not usually found in DAM systems.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Canto meets numerous needs head-on, by providing an excellent resource to not only organize your digital media, but to also collaborate internally and externally. The reality of the modern workplace is such that having a cloud-based service with minimal lag-time between your tagging, commenting, and uploading/downloading makes a world of difference. Canto's team of customer care and tech engineers are passionate about what they do, and show a keen desire to work with their customers to expand their program to fit our needs. From A-Z, Canto is an intuitive, dynamic platform that is a joy to use and share with our partners.

Canto Can

  • December 20, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Amazing costumer service. Every team member appears to put in the work to make sure you are set up and satisfied with the product. Canto has an incredibly well organized user interface. Ease of search features from user end- ease of tag features from Admin end.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a very hefty price tag. Would like to see more admin spots allocated. Migration of digital assets to this new platform was difficult and time consuming. For the amount that the products costs it would be nice to have a free service offered by Canto to upload assets and organize.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Prior to Canto, I as the graphic designer for our University, was the only point of contact for the faculty /staff to access digital assets. This included image searches that could extend 10 years or more in the past. Now that we have Canto, these time consuming searches have become much more efficient. We were able to offer access to departments all over the University giving them the ability to search on their own in a well organized way. So many images from so different photographers in a large university. Wonderful to have everything compiled in one place. Benefits- can also upload assets such as brand standards, logos, etc to share campus wide.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Research way to organize your assets prior to migration.

My Experience with Canto

  • December 20, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease with which metadata tagging can be accomplished is likely the greatest strength for our use of this product. We've managed to create a keyword/tag database that now allows us to navigate our full media catalog with ease, and has made our workflow infinitely more streamlined. The branding guideline and adobe integration is definitely an additional benefit we're looking to utilize to its fullest shortly.
What do you dislike about the product?
We operate in a segment with non-standard products so, unfortunately, we can't use the "smart tagging" system to its full potential. However, for tagging the "minutia" (As we call it) within the photo, but not necessarily the focus, the smart tagging system is great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've had a very positive experience with the platform overall. We're nearly 4 months into our subscription and still feel like we're at the tip of the iceberg. The ease with which we can now access media that contain specific iterations and instances of our products is fantastic. This has saved us a tonne of time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do your research and figure out which DAM platform is best for you. Once you've done that, do your due-diligence and schedule sales calls with all your options, let them know what you're using the platform to accomplish and see what they're willing to do for you.

    Non-Profit Organization Management

Low barrier to entry

  • December 20, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Coming from having a ton of digital media but NO digital asset management system beyond disorganized hard drives, Canto provided most of the functions our team needed with low barrier to entry. The highly visual interface helps all of our staff members easily find what they are looking for, and the search functionality as proven pretty accurate and helpful. As we approached our storage limit, we were happy to learn of the cold storage option which let us archive some of our less-used material at a low cost.
What do you dislike about the product?
My only complaint is that as we've used up more storage, it seems like Canto is running slower and slower. Not sure what the cause for that is, but I do have to be patient with it these days.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able for the first time to have give all of our staff members access to the institutional memory of our organization through its media. This has greatly simplified communications and marketing workflows, and has democratized access to our media, which before was in the hands of just a few staff members who had access to certain hard drives.

Canto helping sales actually use marketing content

  • December 20, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy search with customizable fields.
We take on a lot of custom projects and before implementing Canto it was difficult for sales reps to find relevant project picture and marketing content to send customers. With Canto reps can now easily sort through our huge library of pictures and marketing collateral and search by things like the internal job number for a project or keywords that represent key features.
What do you dislike about the product?
Google chrome made some changes that removed some functionality from the Canto chrome plugin. The change removed the ability to drag and drop files directly from the plugin. It still works but the process now has some additional mouse clicks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Documents, images, and marketing collateral were all organized in a shared google drive. Sales reps weren't using the content because it was too hard to sift though everything to find what they were looking for. New sales reps had a really hard time searching for anything because they had to know the exact file title or the month and date that a picture was taken in order to run a search. They ended up spending half an hour clicking around or just not using the content at all.

The biggest benefit that I've realized is that my sales team is now using relevant product images and marketing content much more often. When a customer has a question about a specific product feature the sales rep can hop onto canto and find some relevant images from past projects to send in just a few minutes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you commit to putting in the work upfront to properly tag your photos and documents then Canto can be a really powerful tool for your organization. My sales team uses it constantly and we're saving a ton of time using canto versus sifting through files on a shared drive to find content.

A True Game Changer for Image Sharing and Distribution

  • December 20, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Canto provides a balance of affordability and key features needed from a digital asset management platform. Our team is able to search and share images at a break-neck pace compared to our former system. We can't imagine going back to a day without Canto.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the features are not intuitive for new users. Deleting files is a two step process which goes slowly. Portals are not useful for our office because it greatly depletes available storage. And lastly, the facial recognition software has a long way to go before being truly dependable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team's time spent organizing, sharing, and distributing images was drastically reduced after implementing Canto's platform. No longer is time wasted finding, sorting, emailing, and creating contact sheets for clients. We wish we had implemented Canto years earlier. Finding and distributing images that pre-date our implementation of Canto are a real headache.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Compare Canto's features and price point to their competitors and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Canto review

  • December 20, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is user-friendly. All of the organization has access to it but only with limited editing access. It has been helpful with marketing and keeping in everything in unison.
What do you dislike about the product?
For the most part Canto has been great, there isn't one thing I would say stands out
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
having a central place for all our media to be used by the staff
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a great software for businesses to use. It is user-friendly, allows the admin to control but still gives users a majority of options
