Very helpful, but a lot of work upfront

What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful feature of Canto is its searchability. You're able to put assets in folders along with adding tags and keywords. This way, anyone is able to find assets even if they aren't familiar with your folder structure.
What do you dislike about the product?
The hardest part of Canto is putting all the assets in it, to begin with. It's a long process adding assets and tagging them. Once you have all your current assets in Canto, it's still a pain to put new ones in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before Canto, it was hard for team members to find assets they needed if they aren't in our folder structure often. We have a lot of assets and it was easy to forget them, or lose them. But Canto makes it easy to find photos and videos by just typing in what you're looking for.

Work Smarter Not Harder - Such a Timesaver!

What do you like best about the product?
This software makes organizing and tagging thousands photos so ridiculously easy. Everything is easily organized and accessible to your team internally but it's also so easy to share files and photos externally with easy link creation and download options.
What do you dislike about the product?
When tagging large batches of photos (1000+), if you select and apply tag data to only two or more photos when exiting back out of the edit data option canto automatically re-scrolls back to the beginning of all the images. Can be a bit frustrating to keep scrolling back down to try and find where you left off tagging for large batches, but otherwise lovely software!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It took so much time to manually look through photos, download them from an external harddrive to our server and then manually sort into folders for performance reporting on assets. Canto has saved me HOURS and HOURS of time. It's made a world of difference to be able to search through thousands of my teams photos for exactly the image tags I need in a few seconds rather than search aimlessly through multiple server folders for hours.

Canto has been an excellent addition to our Communications team

What do you like best about the product?
Canto was very simple to understand and operate from the start. There are lots of tooltips that are there to help whenever you aren't sure what something does or how to use a feature. Canto also has an excellent library of questions and answers from users and moderators that have been helpful throughout. Uploading large numbers of assets can happen relatively easily. Customer service is excellent and responsive. I appreciate that they are constantly adding or improving features that add value to the software.
What do you dislike about the product?
When we migrated to Canto almost two years ago, I would have appreciated more use case examples and best practices specific to how our office intended to use the software. I do think that there are some things we could have done differently at the beginning of our migration that would have optimized Canto even more.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto has allowed us to create galleries of photos of just about any number that we can easily share with both on-campus and external partners as needed. It allows us to mark photos with tags that are easy to search to get our hands on just what we need. It has been a serious time-saving. I particularly like the facial recognition feature, which has gotten better and better. It allows us to find photos of specific people in our 100,000+ library even when they are not all tagged.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a product that is relatively easy to migrate into and to use once set up. Their customer service is excellent and very responsive. They take users' suggestions seriously and implement them when possible to the overall platform.

Canto is exceptional at what it does

What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy Canto makes it to share and distribute albums to my clients. A process that used to take me hours, now only takes me a few minutes once my photographer delivers the pictures.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because it's web based, when you're looking at an album that is particularly loaded with content, it takes a while for it to load and the animation that happens when pictures load can be quite...repetitive. Those are small small nit picky issues I have with it though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Two of the main things I'm solving are as follow:

1. The ability to share photos of events with my clients has drastically improved. For instance, I usually have clients that ask for photos from certain events that have recently passed. My old method was to just start searching for their faces in our [very organized] public drive on our system. Now, with features like auto face recognition, tagging, keywords, etc. I have a little thinking I need to do ahead, but canto really makes it easy to find everything I'm looking for at the touch of a button, put those images in a folder, and send to clients in a private link. It's incredible.

2. In a similar vain, I often have to send corporate partners documentation at the end of the year of all their events. This is a process I don't want to spend too much time on and happens only once a year. If I just keep everything tagged cleanly [and canto having the ability to add sponsors to events let's me be super clean], it's a very simple pull at the end of a season to send to my clients in a professional manner.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just give it a chance. The team at Canto is patient and always listening.

User-Friendly, Shareable, Accessible to Everyone

What do you like best about the product?
One of the main things we like about Canto is the ability to tag, share, and organize all of our digital assets in a user-friendly interface. this product is easy to use and one of the best features is the keyword and tag search usability. the integration took a bit of time because we had a large database of files to tag and upload, but now the organization of said assets is systemized and clearly defined going forward.
What do you dislike about the product?
Integration took a bit of time because of the tagging and organization that needed to be done. this is one of the important parts but also something that was not 100% clarified. there are multiple places where the same information can be entered so we wonder if there might be a little bit of overlap or redundancy in this regard. Overall, this was all worth it to ensure our assets were properly tagged and searchable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the larger issues we solved by moving to Canto is the siloed assets that lived in different computers, hard drives, and servers. Introducing Canto allowed us to put all these assets under a single system that is clearly designed to be user-friendly and fully functional for the type of uses that we require on a daily basis. from finding assets for projects to creating case studies for meetings. All assets are under one platform and sharable to reps, customers, and homeowners with just a few clicks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are a company that relies heavily on having easily accessible digital assets but struggle to find what you need when you need it. Canto Digital Asset Management is probably a good option to look in to. it certainly helped us in our organization and we work with thousands of files that each require dozens of tags.
