ESRI - A GIS for any size organization
What do you like best about the product?
ESRI has products for all levels of users and busines functions.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is so much functionality it's hard to know what is best for my needs. Luckily, ESRI has great support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a state government and provide forest assessments and fire protecgtion

What do you like best about the product?
There is a ton of support available for troubleshooting, finding out more information, etc. Great customer service support from ESRI as well as from ESRI user community.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasional overload of information making it difficult to parse through for what is applicable for my needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mapping of project assets. This allows for my business to visualize the project elements and the works that are performed on each.

What do you like best about the product?
Using arcgis allows users to be able to make decisions that will best meet their goals.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing really to dislike but sometimes there are many tools in the platform that one cannot utilize.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently using ArcGIS for land records and parcel data work. We are able to see land assignments and hydrographic survey data from the 1960s.

What do you like best about the product?
easy to use, technolody changes and but core function are still there

many chnages happening, a little hard to keep up with. ArcSDE is its own world not really database freindly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used for spatial analysis, density analysis, all kinds of reporting, a lot of files need to be tansferred back and forth. epsecially geoprocessing are its own set, wasted a lot of space and could create confusion in the file structure

There are multiple approaches to provide your business needs. The tech support is good and the well-established products have good documentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Less-established products have poor documentation. Fixes are rare, but rather in future updates. You have to know about your topic before going onto GeoNet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Water, Wastewater, Gas. Visualization to the field data and good analytics

When tech support is bad. Slow start up time. Slow processing time.

Addressing, E911 mapping, mapping for planning department. Visualization is a key .

What do you like best about the product?
that the collection and analysis of authoritative data is transformed into graphical representations that aids human understanding of our world.
What do you dislike about the product?
Upgrades in general that necessitate re-doing programs and workflows to adjust to new data formats, for example. Yeah SDE is nice, but the power of arc-node topology in coverages is sorely missed. I still tell my colleagues it's coming back as ArcINFO 12.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
enabling self-government for a local county so that adequate funds (from tax parcels) are used to fund road maintenance, population growth, habitat monitoring and restoration, emergency preparedness, and econominc development
Powerful tool to store and manage your data
What do you like best about the product?
For basic maps it is fairly easy to create a map for a beginner to intermediate user. There are many powerful tools that can create many relationships out of your data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not always user friendly or easy to use. The process to publish maps to our portal is not consistent and is not intuitive. There seems to be too many steps to get one data set published to the portal. As the saying goes in our company, "there are 14 ways to do one job in Arc, one is easy the others are hard and finding the easy way is not easy to find!"
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Geologic mapping and geochemical analysis. ArcGIS allows us to manage large data over multiple databases and with multiple users effectively. The new tools allow us to view our data to help us see our geology clearer.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Training. Take a lot of training. Have your users take advantage of the esri online training.
