Planview - A good resource allocation and time-sheet keeper

  • January 10, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Timesheet tracking and financial reports from planview at several different levels and with various types of views needed for Project, Program, PMO, Domain and enterprise needs. Milestones tracking can be done nicely as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Schedule management is little challenging using planview. Its not that you can't do it, you can for sure but its not so intuitive and simple.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Financial management primarily, milestones tracking and allocations & time sheets for several different resources as part of large matrix organization
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Planview is a wonderful tool but for latest methodologies like SAFe etc., where you are managing schedule in sprints and using other tools for scope and status management; consider how well you can integrate with planview features.

Does what we need it to do

What do you like best about the product?
It’s a quick and simple way for employees to entire their time sheets and for us to track hours logged across different orgs and towards specific tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Crafting custom functionality can be costly. There isn’t anything built in to enable us to follow up with employees that have not submitted their timesheets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Time tracking and project planning based on time allocations.

Good, Better, Best Project Management

  • July 12, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Closing a project - one less thing to do
What do you dislike about the product?
Project Planning tool - It saves automatically - not when you require (or by an auto setting). does not have an undo feature. Detailed plans often get errors (5 or 6 levels in especially).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Group IT wide Project Planning and reporting - so it is handy in it's reports.
PMs spend over 400h a week on entering, updating and info in Planview - just to satisfy these reports - at $800/day, you do the math
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Check the Project Management Tool for PMs - it is my biggest gripe. Especially if you know your MS Project. While pretty good - it has a long way to go. There is no "undo" facility or method.

Planview for time reporting is terrible

  • February 07, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There's not one thing I like about Planview. Though I only report project time in this system, and do not use any other aspect of this app, I don't like it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pages and navigation are not intuitive. The system is not easy to use when adding projects to a weekly time sheet. for each week, I have to find the jobs I've worked on to add them to the time sheet rather than for each time sheet, listing ALL recent projects, like the last 4 weeks of projects, just not last weeks projects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
None using this application

Good software for project management tools

  • November 12, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's a good tool for managing project timing and hours. It's cloud-based and available everywhere to the client. As a user and an admin, I can wholeheartedly recommend Planview.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the mobile tools are hard to work with. That's more a device-side issue, but it's there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management hours, tracking, and assignments.

Great for managing projects across multiple offices

  • July 05, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
In higher education, many offices provide independent services while being housed under the same division. This tool has streamlined the process of developing a singular project to which all offices will play a role.
What do you dislike about the product?
The offices with younger staff are able to contribute their insights to each project fairly timely. Offices with individuals who do not have a natural inclination toward technology tend to go around the software and try to submit their contributions/edits through hard copies and email because they don't understand how to use it. In theory, this software works, but we're going to have to develop a live training on how to use this project for the entire division, which will cost time and money.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Previously, communication and strategy had been extremely disorganized and chaotic at best. Now, all offices can contribute to each project on their own time without having to schedule a slew of in-person meetings (assuming they know how to use the program).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider how comfortable you/your co-workers are with software of this nature before deciding to purchase and implement it. There are many good uses for it, but it can be a headache for those who don't have natural affinity for tech.

Splendid Experience!

  • June 19, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Projects are effortlessly shared and saw. I like the element that permits me appointing undertakings over my designers and analyzers. We are in the framework every day and people inside divisions take responsibility for individual parts while partaking in an "open" arrangement. This makes it simple to see where I've spent a considerable measure of my work week time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not having the capacity to predefine or set a default set of assignments per new client story made with predefined proprietors set. This one is not necessary feature but it is a little annoying to start from scratch every time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are utilizing Planview to deal with our activities that include numerous groups and phases of advancement.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely recommended.
