Fastest STT for our use-case

  • November 03, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Deepgram's speed in converting spoken words to text is truly impressive. This real-time capability allows us to process and transcribe conversations quickly, making it a valuable tool for our operations.

User-friendly interface and API integration make it easy for developers.

Diarization feature is a game-changer. It helps us differentiate between multiple speakers in a conversation, making our transcriptions more organized and meaningful.

Support for telephony codecs, such as Mu-law 8000, is essential for us, as we deal with a variety of audio sources. This versatility ensures we can work with different types of recordings seamlessly.

The availability of a phone call model is a great asset for our use case. It's tailored to handle telephone conversations, resulting in more accurate transcriptions for this specific scenario.

The ability to receive interim results is a big plus. It allows us to get an early glimpse of the transcription, which can be useful for real-time applications. Additionally, the endpointing feature helps us identify the start and end of speech segments accurately.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Deepgram's accuracy is commendable, there is room for improvement in the Word Error Rate. In real-time conversations, every word counts, and even a slight inaccuracy can be problematic. Although it's acceptable for our use case, further improvements in this aspect would be highly beneficial.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deepgram is benefiting our organization by providing an efficient, cost-effective, and feature-rich hosted STT solution. It eliminates the need for us to make substantial investments in building and maintaining an in-house STT system, allowing us to focus on our core business activities and providing us with reliable, accurate, and scalable transcription services. This has not only saved us time and resources but also improved the overall quality of our real-time conversation-based applications.

Great for transcribing meetings with speaker diarisation

  • November 03, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I've been using the API a lot to transcribe long meetings and workshops (2 to 3 hours long). It's very reliable and works well with a variety of accents. I've also found the speaker diarisation (i.e. identify which speaker said what) to be top notch.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only issue I had was at the beginning. The documentation wasn't as clear as it could have been to help me get the script working. It would have been useful to have a cookbook with a range of common uses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping me process long meetings for a fraction of the cost of other services and the quality is very good. I've been finding very little loss of nuance and meaning in my transcriptions

What do you like best about the product?
The playground works excellently; it was straightforward to use it and then add the code to test our application. The user and API key management is helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
As a Spanish user, the Spanish (Mexico) transcriptions fail more than English.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It was hard to find a Spanish transcription service. Even when it's not perfect, it works excellently with Spanish.

Fast, Multilingual, and Accurate

  • November 03, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Deepgram is super fast and accurate when it comes to transcribing audio. It can handle multiple languages which is really handy. They give you $200 credit to start with, which is pretty generous. It has cool features like transcribing in paragraphs and it's really precise. Plus, their API documentation is easy to understand and use.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one thing I wish Deepgram could do is transcribe video calls in real time using their API. That would be a really useful feature. But overall, Deepgram is a solid choice for speech-to-text needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deepgram is solving the problem of transcribing audio data into text, which is a crucial task in many fields such as customer service, legal compliance, and content creation. It uses AI speech recognition models to provide highly accurate and low latency transcriptions and creating chatbots able to ask questions to transcripts.

Deepgram empowers startups. The credits provided are awesome and the managable cost of Deepgram is a major plus. The webinars and constant improvement clearly shows Deepgram is an industry leader. We tested with a few text-to-speech APIs and deepgram clearly came out on top.

Quality - price

  • November 03, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Deepgram is the ease of implementation. It's very simple to build a product using Deepgram, and the quality of transcriptions is excellent, especially in English. However, I have encountered several issues with languages like Spanish. They offer some of the best prices in the market.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I don't like about Deepgram is the difficulty in handling a large quantity of audio when the language is different from English. Some transcriptions couldn't be generated, and the audio quality with which I built an application wasn't the best. There are other alternatives that provided better transcriptions. Additionally, when I tried to contact the support team to see if there was any solution to this problem, I never received a response. The margin of error wasn't too high compared to the volume of audio we were processing, but for our use case, precision was necessary.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I utilized Deepgram to address the challenges of generating transcriptions for telesales calls, facilitating swift and straightforward audits. Deepgram proves to be an outstanding choice for applications requiring transcription, and it notably offers diarization, a valuable feature particularly useful for contact center applications.
