Great product! Better than our previous choices.
What do you like best about the product?
LogicMonitor's extensibility allows us to achieve so much more than some canned solutions. We are able to tailor alerts, set thresholds and create unique dashboards.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of our device types do not have config or datasources. We have had to pay PS for project work, but that was completed on time and satisfactorily.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Core monitoring, and are moving toward advanced monitoring using Services Insights. Our alerting and notifications are significantly higher quality and less noise than we previously experienced.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
After careful consideration of over a dozen alternatives, we felt LogicMonitor was the best solution for us. Look at your requirements and see if LogicMonitor cannot meet or exceed your needs.
Good tool, easy to use, easy to customize
What do you like best about the product?
I've been using LogicMonitor for a few years after I used other tools before like SCOM, HPOV and more.
LogicMonitors one of the best tools, easy to use, easy to customize

Can be more build in monitor data sources

Best In Class for IT Infrastructure Monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
LogicMonitor is incredibly easy to use, and most if not all of the monitoring comes out of box and is applied to devices dynamically. The SaaS based architecture saved dozens of hours a month in maintaining an on prem product. Our customer success team is always forthcoming and responsive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Managing so many dynamically applied alert thresholds can be a challenge.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
LogicMonitor gives incredible visibility into our customer environments and is so simple/fast to deploy it cut down those onboarding tasks for new customers by about 80%.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go with LogicMonitor if you need something in place lightning fast with immense potential for scale. Don't be afraid to ask for a POC or implement with a small number of devices and expand.
It really does what they say
What do you like best about the product?
I like being able to dig under the hood and tweak all the settings. I also like how extensible the system is. LogicMonitor is opening us up to new monitoring opportunities with our customers. The API is also fantastic!
What do you dislike about the product?
Most of the things that I dislike about LogicMonitor are being fixed in the new UI that they are developing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have used LogicMonitor to replace all our other monitoring tools. We have greatly consolidated our server footprint and have also reduced our ticket counts due to false positives that we were getting from our old monitoring platforms. Overall this system has allowed us to automate much of our tasks. We are now able to add devices to monitoring, create CMDB CI's in ServiceNow, and integrate them into Salesforce for billing. This tool has changed the face of our company!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do it!
Logicmonitor efficiency
What do you like best about the product?
It alerts us when devices or servers go down which helps us maintain stable environments for our clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
Big learning curve to fully utilize Logicmonitor in clients environment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
24/7 monitoring on devices and servers. Keeps up to date on the health of all devices.
Fantastic monitoring tool for your full-stack!
What do you like best about the product?
LM comes with a bunch of pre-built "datasources" to help get you rolling early. But the fact that they provide great documentation and support to create your OWN datasources makes the product so much more viable for power-users. Out of the dozens of tickets I have opened with LM, I have never had an issue with Support not assisting me solve my problem!
What do you dislike about the product?
The frontend is a little dated. As of Jan-2020, they're actively working on improving the styling to make it more modern, so that's promising.
The limitations with collector sample timing is also somewhat disappointing. Currently, we can only sample a resource every 1 minute. For servers, this may not be an issue - but networking gear, 60 seconds is an eternity. Would be awesome to see improvements made to SNMP monitoring on specific network gear to allow for more granular sampling rate.

Companies usually jump into deploying new technology without considering how to monitor and alert on it. LogicMonitor simplifies that process tremendously. But what most companies then fail to do is collect metrics on that data over time and analyze what is normal or an anomaly. With LM, that is baked in from the start.
We have used LM to see poor response times in services that we never knew were an issue - and resolved them!

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be comfortable and familiar with scripting languages. The extensibility of LM is its truest power - being able to write custom datasources really exposes what it can do!
Logicmonitor, a review story
What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility of LM is quite good, property sources are fantastic for inventory.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's more difficult than I like to update instance level properties for creative use cases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ingesting more information than we had with any other monitoring platform.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It would be important to have multiple people willing to tweak the product to your needs.
Very fluid and extensible product!
What do you like best about the product?
My favorite part about LogicMonitor is the ease of extending my monitoring capabilities, and to be perfectly honest - the properties. The ability to manually and automatically create properties to "tag" almost anything in the portal is an under-appreciated feature.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some UI changes that could be made, and it would be nice to see more consistency in the design / function of all parts of the portal (specifically I am thinking of LogicModules, Collectors, and Resource/Websites).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are monitoring 90+ of our customers inside of LogicMonitor and constantly expanding our monitoring footprint to proactively identify incidents prior to them becoming problems. One such example is monitoring GoDaddy CNAME records and the corresponding CNAME records in Route 53 (AWS), and alerting if there is a mismatch.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you take time to identify who will be administrating the product, having a small team of 2-3 people as custodians of the portal helps keep it consistent and organized until automation can be applied to it.
Decent monitoring tool
What do you like best about the product?
We like that it has a lot of predefined datasources, so you can really start monitoring your infrastructure with minimal efforts. On the other hand, you can build your own datasources and start checking almost anything that you need.
What do you dislike about the product?
What we really need in LogicMonitor is an ability to get any text as datapoint result, send it in the alerts, and store it. For instance, it could be SQL server tables that we don't need/want to parse but we'd like to get them as is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
LogicMonitor is our main monitoring tool that we use on a daily basis. It gives us visibility of our infrastructure and it's simply our essential tool.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Learn how to develop your own datasources. This is essential if you want to use all features of LogicMonitor.
Simple to use, simple to deploy
What do you like best about the product?
The data source matching enables me to add any type of device and the tool dynamically matches the source from the cloud. The support levels are awesome and we can chat directly with support within seconds.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost of licensing is quite high compared to some rivals
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are helping our customers identify issues quickly and at times before they notice
