My review of logic monitor, my noisy friend.
What do you like best about the product?
Logic monitor is a very comprehensive tool that can provide great insights to the companies environment.
The dashboard feature is awesome, but the tools I am most looking forward to are alert correlations and forecasting. We see great benefit as this area increases. The support is also very helpful as when we have any questions, large or small, we are able to start an IM session and immediately get answers or assistance where needed. That level of support is great.

What do you dislike about the product?
Takes a lot of time to setup and configure. Though the majority of the out of the box settings are sufficient for the initial monitoring of a customer environment, you need to take time to tuning alerts, building dashboards to suit the needs of the customer, build useful and accurate reports that are automatically generated and sent to key personnel on a regular basis. These tasks are relatively easy to do but just takes time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Provided deep insight to our customer environments and can provide great feedback to current baselines for the customer and where we can help them improve their infrastructure. The ability to dashboard and provide visibly appealing reports that are generated on a regular basis automatically is great. With LM we are providing the customer data not only received by Network gear via SNMP, or Servers via WMI, but we are able to pull Netflow statistics, remotely access their environment through just about any protocol needed today.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be ready to spend a decent amount of man hours during initial setup and continuous modifications to optimize it the best it can be, but I feel it is absolutely worth the effort. Great tools, features, and excited for the future.
A review of LogicMonitor from a Network Admin
What do you like best about the product?
LogicMonitor is relatively straightforward to deploy in an organization. No agents are required on monitored endpoints, so this significantly simplifies the implementation. There are several built-in DataSources in the product, so we get a lot of useful information and monitoring right away. For things we want that aren't built-in, LogicMonitor has been the most responsive vendor, diligently working to find a solution, or being honest about their limitations.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the limitations I have found is that if you want to monitor several different types of network interfaces in the same widget on a dashboard, this isn't supported, which is a central need of the NOC. For example, you cannot combine serial and Ethernet interfaces if you are using both. This is a minor thing, though. From our experience so far, this product seems geared more toward servers and hosts and isn't as strong on the network monitoring side. There are features we would still like to see added in order to truly compete with other vendors who have been in the field longer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the major pushes of our IT organization is how to be a more proactive team. We want to see issues as they are forming or as they happen and get to the point where we are notifying the business of the issue and that we're responding to the alerts, rather than relying on the business to notify us when they are having a problem. LogicMonitor is helping us get there, with customized DataSources that alert us in a proactive way.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are using another product for monitoring networking equipment, make sure you vet out LogicMonitor in a solid proof of concept trial to make sure it will meet all your needs.
Breath of Fresh Air
What do you like best about the product?
By far, the support team at Logic Monitor is my favorite part of this company. I can ask them any question and they will work as hard as possible to get me an answer. They are professional, diligent, and extremely intelligent.
What do you dislike about the product?
Now that dark mode has been developed, I am happy! I would however like to add a Splunk integration for Logic Monitor. I'd like to have a single pane of glass for alerts as well as escalations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Insight into our infrastructure has improved dramatically. Having a powerful and robust tool like Logic Monitor will allow my company to take that next step into the future of technology.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it. You will not be disappointed in the least. You're only going to do better.
LogicMonitor is the best.
What do you like best about the product?
Support is always great and helpful. The UI looks great and the collectors make it easy to monitor sites as a whole. The idea that the community can add datasources can make it much easier to add our servers and services to monitoring.
What do you dislike about the product?
Every so often the UI can have problems. There have been times when things are as straight forward as I would like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Logicmonitor got our monitoring to a new level. With everything that they offer we have been able to monitor services, servers, websites all in one place. They make it super easy and support is always there to help if needed.
Helping our MSP be more flexible in the cloud
What do you like best about the product?
LogicMonitor has a primary focus on the cloud. Being able to monitor Azure subscriptions beyond just the VM's is a requirement and the setup is easy. When we run into issues we can reach to the support and they spend all the time needed to help solve our issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our only issues come down to scaling as an MSP to the amount of devices we need to monitor and the cost break out. We'd also like to be able to monitor Windows machines from a Linux box as they have a much lower run rate in Azure since we don't have to pay for a Windows license.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our clients are either cloud veterans or just moving to the cloud. We use the platform to right size them on all fronts that will direcly win or lose a cloud migration project. If we can get telemetry of their systems first, we can make sure that we will use the right SKU's when quoting the cost of the run-rate on the VMs. For clients who are already in the cloud we can help clean up cloud sprawl.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Work with a partner during the setup to make sure you are doing best practice setup and do the learning modules.
Monitor without worrying about your monitors
What do you like best about the product?
Stable product. We have been using LogicMonitor for the past 4 years now and we did not have any major issues with it that caused us any problems.
User Interface has come a long way. Once you get the hang of it, it is fairly easy to use.
Many integration options to other 3rd party products and seamless integration.
LM Tech Support Engineers are one of the best in this field. I have always dealt with very competent engineers that are willing to solve and help your issues.

What do you dislike about the product?
User Interface could be better. Performing some mundane tasks still require many unnecessary clicks. :)
Automation could be improved within the product where some of the mundane tasks indicated above could be given as options/tasks to the user already prepared.
Not easy to backup/export/import your configuration.
Expensive but you get what you pay for. :)

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
You cannot beat LM at Infrastructure monitoring, i.e. CPU, disk, memory.
With some work, you can also monitor a slew of other items in your datacenter as there are already ready datasources created for you by LM.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
All monitoring software will have steep learning curve since setting up the product is the major hurdle in getting in integrated within your environment. LM will only perform as well as it is setup in your environment.
Excelent tool!
What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that Unomaly starts to return valuable insights to what's going on immideatly. And that adding the Unomaly superpower is as easy as sending the logs!
What do you dislike about the product?
Starter sets of "knowns" should be supplied. Events that is known garbage should be filtered, and the nasty ones should be lifted regardless of their cadence.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We catch failures in our services early, often before the users notice anything!
Easy to set up, simple to use, great support
What do you like best about the product?
Makes finding anomalies in systems (logs) look very easy, pretty much does all the work for you, and can be taught new stuff easily on the run. Can go through large amounts of data with no problems. Software is updated regularly, and user feedback is taken seriously.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not many downsides to really mention, actually can't think of any at the moment... It's not free?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Don't have to set up complex rules for log monitoring, or spending hours going through log files manually.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try, it's easy to set up.
Good product. Easy to get going for infrastructure monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
Fairly out of the box for basic network and infrastructure monitoring. Cloud based so minimal infrastructure to make this work on my end.
What do you dislike about the product?
More complex configurations aren't as easy. I wish there was better APM capabilities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Proactive monitoring of network and infrastructure
Recommendations to others considering the product:
APM - application and log monitoring. APIs for pushing and pulling data via Python, etc.
A Simple To Use, Monitoring System That Pretty Much Does It All
What do you like best about the product?
The easy to create dashboards, the excellent support, and the ease of adding and configuring devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
LogicMonitor wasn't able to support our SAN out of the box, LogicMonitor still had the ability to report on this, after writing a custom data source.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a solution that gave us the status of our entire network and to solve problems before they happen.
