Incredibly flexible CMS with tons of use cases

  • September 23, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like Brightspot’s unique ability to handle content across multiple websites. As a local publication serving 30+ cities across the United States, it’s important for our users to collaborate and share content across our various sites. Brightspot makes standardization, content sharing, and third party integrations a breeze.
What do you dislike about the product?
If a feature that you’re looking for is not “out-of-the box”, Brightspot can get quite costly as a platform. I recommend hiring in-house front end and backend developers if you plan to move forward with the Brightspot CMS platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team is able to write and publish articles, then populate and adjust the content to fit our newsletter format. We’re also able to publish and schedule our newsletters without ever leaving the CMS.

What do you dislike about the product?
The design has a more old-school vibe, reminiscent of the early Mac processors.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Unifying our global branding and customizable for each level of user

Intuitive and Customizable, but Ad Integration Issues

  • June 09, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how intuitive Brightspot is to use, along with its flexibility and customization options. The WYSIWYG editor is a great feature, especially since our editors are not tech-savvy. With Brightspot, they can publish independently without it taking a long time or needing tech support.
What do you dislike about the product?
It doesn’t support ads very well and we’ve had trouble with implementation. Granted, we have lots of ad customization but it has been a big pain point. And the initial setup of Brightspot was honestly very blundered. A lot went wrong in the migration and we lost a lot of traffic as a result. Took a long time to recover and I’m not sure if we ever fully did.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Brightspot enhances our media operations with robust recirculation and tagging, supports multiple editorial content types, and is intuitive for non-tech savvy editors to publish independently.

Good but Difficult

  • June 05, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Brightspot is a good content management system. I like that it can take an image and use it in different use cases and ratios. It's great for blog posts and articles.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost and time it takes for new features and layouts is prohibitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The workflow allows us to have people across campus updating content but allowing us to review it before publishin to make sure it meets certain standards and requirements.

Brightspot: Robust, Flexibl, Great Customer Support

  • June 05, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Our organization represents a somewhat atypical media hybrid (a tv network with niche programming plus a heavy news component). 3 years ago, we migrated a suite of websites from our previous CMS provider over the Brightspot. The Brightspot customer support team was top-notch as they guided through that highly complex, months-long process – and that same quality of service hasn't diminished one bit since. In terms of the product/platform itself, we've found it to represent a robust mix of flexibility (e.g. the ease with which page layouts can be modified and varied, new components added, etc.) and ease-of-use which we continue to be very pleased with.
What do you dislike about the product?
As flexible as things are, some additional features for non-enterprise users would be appreciated. Such as:
• The ability to override some features of the imposed style guides (especially with regard to typography/fonts) when desired
• A broader suite of third-party integrations
• An internal form builder
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The wide range of page layout options that can be employed is especially helpful given the hybrid nature of our organization, allowing us to quickly create new hub pages, alter home page layout, etc. quickly and easily as promotional priorities shift.

CMS done right with unbelievable configurability

  • June 03, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It allows for some powerful content creation options. We have 40+ custom types and allow our app developers the ability to define their own types as well. Our company hosts multiple 'sites' on Brightspot and have hundreds of content creators and thousands of pages of content. We even have non-employee content creators.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are so many configurable options available that sometimes it can be difficult to figure out where a certain attribute is configured.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing lots of sites with lots of authors, including non-employee authors. We also use headless mode so we get our own user interface content through an internal library of UI components.

Simplicity and Scalability

  • June 03, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how plug and play Brightspot is. It's so easy to duplicate modules and pages and select modules from the back-end to get the content up you're looking to publish quickly. I love how streamlined it is and how easy it makes managing multiple different websites without having to recreate the wheel everytime. The ability to input all your information for socials, analytics, integrate with existing services, and share content across sites and pages is super helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be a little frustrating to be limited by the created modules in terms of design. I wish the look and feel was a bit more customizable without having to involve a developer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows me to manage and create content for three different brands and websites but be able to manage from one place with the ability to share content, assets, and modules across all 3 when necessary.
