Pretty good software with its quirks.

What do you like best about the product?
The weekly activity summary is where I spend most of my time. It provides a very convenient view of all actions taken by all members across several weeks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some metrics like "impact" and "daily commits" have perplexing heuristics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me understand the activities of my group and its members. I can see who is spending more or less time and how productive certain members are. This helps me to focus my training and coaching where it is most needed.

What do you like best about the product?
Player cards are useful to see insights and patterns for individual and aggregate team level productivity metrics especially code commits and PR reviews.
What do you dislike about the product?
Aliases that get pulled from various sources and management of primary emails used to track users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
User activity in GitHub and Jira.
Bottlenecks and patterns of work being done in teams.
User management.
Capacity constraints and burn out signals.

Flow is the best product in the market for measuring developer effectiveness.

What do you like best about the product?
The insights go beyond trivial metrics like lines of code and uncover what really matters.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's expensive. Ideally it would cost about half as much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Flow allows us to track dev effectiveness ver time and evaluate the effectiveness of process changes.

Gives great insight to any R&D Manager! As well as great insights for the Developers themselves.

What do you like best about the product?
The wide variety of reports and the granularity of the metrics it gathers and provides. As an Engineering Manager, it's been an invaluable tool to help guide my developers to better coding practices and to gain insights on how well they are doing as a whole. I love how it gives me the insights to try to catch performance issues early to better work with my developers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing really comes to mind... It's intuitive, the documentation is FANTASTIC and it has a LOT of data it grabs. Sometimes the developers are missing or the merge suggestions are wrong but that's very minor.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Without clear and concise visibility into how your development teams are doing, you can't make as great of management decisions. It's very manual to pull github stats and jira stats and this tool allows us to save time, gain even more insights than we could have gotten on our own and allows us Managers to better help our teams.

What do you like best about the product?
1 I can get insights about my work and progress
2 it gathers data automatically
What do you dislike about the product?
It super complex to navigate and to find exact information like my performance per last week
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It gives us matrixes.
It benefits me by showing me the real performance of myself and the team.

As a individual contributor, Pluralsight Flow can be valuable.

What do you like best about the product?
I use it for my own motivation. I like seeing that there is a tool that validates that I'm doing lots of work, whether that's reviewing other merge requests, making comments, or pushing commits.

It helps with best practices. It's good to create short commits that are atomic and small, and the graph makes you want to do that.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a little but clunky.

But, setting that aside, sometimes I forget to check it. I don't have a reason to check in very often.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the ways I use it is around retrospective time, when I want to prove that we're either fast or slow at reviewing other people's MRs. The collaboration reports from Flow are really cool, and not something I could gather using any of our other tools.

Visually appealing tool with many metrics, some of which have questionable value.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the insight it can provide on Team's ability throughput on delivery.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike how it cannot adapt to our development flow, and I question the claim of it's usability to coach individuals.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pluralsight Flow provides insight into the team and individual coding metrics, cycle time, and investment profile. The ability to rate individuals with this tool is misguided.

Useful tool in the right hands

What do you like best about the product?
Goes about a 100 times deeper on software engineering metrics than your standard commits per day.
What do you dislike about the product?
Managers should understand this tool does not tell the full story. It's a good conversation starter in a 1:1 and a good way to get a pulse on your engineering team. Dangerous in the wrong hands - like anyone who doesn't come from software engineering.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It will prove you wrong or right, when you suspect someone isn't working. It's a good conversation starter in 1:1.

Great dashboarding and easy to integrate

  • February 21, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
How to correlate so many engineering metrics to allow the teams and leadership to have a more accurate view of teams and individuals' performance. It's great to have an easy way to combine all the different data points.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've had some dashboards not working correctly but support has been great to help to get them working at a fashionable time. Some other times it has been around configuration changes on our end that unexpectedly broke the configuration.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting to understand teams' opportunities for improvement in a comprehensive way and not only from a couple of metrics but leveraging different dimensions that contribute to the state of the teams.

    Jeff P.

Great tool for understanding your teams work with the coding repo and ticketing system.

What do you like best about the product?
Plural sight Flow gives me the tools to understand my teams work and where they may need to get help.
What do you dislike about the product?
Any of the metrics by themself can be misused. It needs several metrics to get a clear picture.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
How my teams function and where any bottlenecks may be.
