Hootsuite: Streamlining School Social Media Management

What do you like best about the product?
Hootsuite has made managing our school's social media SO much easier and has become a vital tool for our team. We use it daily as part of our workflow.

Setting it up was quick and simple. We created our accounts and trained our team quickly using resources and tutorial videos available online. The dashboard is very user-friendly, and you can find what you need, even if you aren't tech-savvy! Since we post on a daily basis, this ease of use is essential for keeping our community engaged and informed.

It's also fairly easy to integrate your social media accounts with Hootsuite – although it does require reconnecting from time to time.

The approval workflow is the main draw for us. As an organisation, it's very important for us to have checks in place to ensure we adhere to policies, specifically around safeguarding our children.

We also appreciate the analytics it offers. It gives us detailed metrics that help us analyse how our posts are performing, understand how our audience is engaging with them, and spot trends or patterns. This has definitely helped improve our content strategy, like knowing the best times to post, enhancing our overall social media presence. As a department, we report certain metrics monthly, and doing this all on Hootsuite is so convenient.

Furthermore, Hootsuite's customer support is fantastic. Our account manager, Grant, checks in with us regularly to ensure we're making the most of the platform and answers any questions we have. We do quarterly check-ins, on top of any ad hoc queries or requests we may have. The Hootsuite Team is very responsive. This level of support shows Hootsuite's commitment to our success.
What do you dislike about the product?
While I've generally found Hootsuite to be a reliable platform, I've encountered a couple of minor inconveniences including occasional loading delays, which can be quite frustrating, especially when we're working under tight deadlines. I understand these delays might be linked to our school's internal network, but it's still something worth mentioning. We've already raised a ticket for this and the support team has been supportive.

The approval workflow for posts could also be refined. Specifically, when a post is submitted for approval, the approver is unable to see the images in their full, uncropped format. This limitation makes it a bit challenging to assess the visual content and ensure it meets standards. Again, as a school, safeguarding children is our priority – we need to check that the photo has no sensitive information that will infringe on our students' privacy. If a full-view image preview were available during the approval process, it would significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our review efforts.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralised platform: The way it lets us manage everything from one dashboard. We can easily schedule, publish, and keep an eye on our posts across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, without multiple logins. This is also applicable to analytics – we can see the "big picture" of post performance, engagement, and more, without having to go through each platform.

Checks: Having the approval workflow in place helps us ensure we are safeguarding children by ensuring no sensitive information is posted on social media.

What do you like best about the product?
Hootsuite is an excellent tool for managing multiple social media accounts in one place. The scheduling feature is a lifesaver, allowing me to plan and automate posts across platforms, which saves a ton of time. The dashboard is relatively intuitive, and the ability to monitor engagement and analytics in real time is super helpful for tracking performance.
What do you dislike about the product?
That said, the pricing can be steep, especially for smaller teams or individuals, and some of the advanced features are locked behind higher-tier plans. Occasionally, the interface can feel slightly clunky, and specific integrations could be smoother.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At Crossroads of America Council, managing social media across multiple platforms is essential for keeping our Scouting families, volunteers, and supporters informed and engaged. Hootsuite has been an invaluable tool in streamlining our social media efforts.

One of the biggest challenges we face is maintaining a consistent and engaging presence across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other platforms. Hootsuite’s scheduling and automation features allow us to plan content in advance, ensuring our community stays updated on events, registration deadlines, and exciting Scouting stories—even during our busiest seasons.

Another key benefit is the monitoring and engagement tools. We can easily track mentions, respond to messages, and interact with our audience—all in one place. This helps us build stronger relationships with our followers and ensure quick responses to inquiries.

The analytics and reporting tools also provide valuable insights into what content resonates most with our audience, helping us refine our strategy and maximize engagement.

While the platform can be a bit pricey for nonprofits, the time saved and efficiency gained make it a worthwhile investment. Hootsuite helps us stay organized, maintain an active online presence, and ultimately strengthen our connection with the Scouting community.

What do you like best about the product?
Hootsuite provides convenience in its ability to easily organize posts across our 3 main social media platforms. The workflow and interface is easy to follow and promotes collaboration between our team members.

We use Hootsuite every day in our scheduling and it seems to be a smooth transition to new employees and is quite smooth.
What do you dislike about the product?
Moving/editing posts can cause scheduling issues and posting errors.

The drafts section can be difficult to navigate based on the timing of drafts and locating past drafts in the folder page.

Customer support was helpful albeit slow in its response times to a few issues I had.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating an organized structure for daily use across multiple platforms.
Scheduling and planning functions give clarity and overview for multiple weeks/months.
Gives insights into optimal posting times and suggestions for links/mentions.

What do you like best about the product?
The amplify feature. It allows us to share content as a team and also with our organization. This feature makes it very easy to use!

The scheduling content interface is a little outdated compared to other platforms like, later or metricool.

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to house a lot of tools under one roof. Social media scheduling, inbox to respond to direct messages and comments, comprehensive analytics, social listening, and a place to monitor and create social media ads. I use the product every single day and it has transformed the workflow of our social media management.

The ease to integrate various products was easy for a smaller team. We were able to connect our various doucment hubs, canva and etc. It was also easy to implement for a small team. The training was very comprehensive in their self-paced courses
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing structure can be a little intense. It does cost a lot to add new users to our account, which can sometimes be a hinderance. Especially if we just want them to be able to have access to one specific aspect of the system, aka social listening, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows me to put all my tools in one place and not have to jump between various apps to schedule and evaluate content. As the sole person responsible for social media at my organization, it helps make the day-to-day work more streamlined, especially as social media isn't my only task.

What do you like best about the product?
I love that we are able to connect all our client accounts, and schedule and manage them from one dashboard. In addition, we can assign our team members to different client accounts.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the UX can be a bit clunky, but I've used many systems, and they all seem to have a similar experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using Hootsuite allows us to save time managing our client's social media platforms from a single dashboard.
