Great management tool with a few key offerings lacking
What do you like best about the product?
Social streams allow for comprehensive overview across networks
What do you dislike about the product?
Limited analytics, bulk uploading tool is buggy
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scheduling, monitoring and reviewing content. Using social streams to get a bigger picture of what's going on across the landscape. Great all-in-one platform, but many holes that need to be covered by other software.
Multi-platform Posting Software
What do you like best about the product?
Ability to schedule and post to multiple platforms. The see all on one page view was amazing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Didn't have Instagram posting ability when I used it. Might now.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Saves time by being able to compose, schedule and post social media content in one location.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Robust but not too difficult. Saves time once you get it set up. I think the team setup was iffy.
Hootsuite - My Command Center Time Saver!
What do you like best about the product?
Being the sole person in my department responsible for two institutions, its important that I can go to one place and have all of the social media marketing at my fingertips. I can plan for peak times to get my message out and I can set future postings for when I'm busy doing other things.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although I am now used to it, when I first began using Hootsuite I found that it was a little daunting to have so much on one page. There is so much going on and very little white-space. It took me a few weeks to not feel 'stressed out' every time I had to use it, but I always considered it a 'necessary evil'
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There is always so much to promote, whether it is a new paper, research achievement or an event. There is always so much going on that has to be done in a timely manner. I work in conjunction with the University my institutes are connected with and so its important that we don't look like we are falling behind on reporting. I use Hootsuite to cut down the time it takes to post across the board and I'm darn lucky I have it! Tasks that would previously take an hour to complete are done in less than half that time. Its a life-saver when I'm busy.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Whether you are an individual trying to take care of numerous accounts or a professional working for a business or institute, this product is something that keeps you organized and up to date with everything you need. The fact that this is free makes it all the better in my opinion. Its a straightforward way to look at all of your social media and for someone who has to take care of 4 plus accounts, like I do, it's my go-to software on a daily basis.
Great for managing all things social

It allows me to manage all my social clients in one location and see a calendar of all the activities going on.
What do you dislike about the product?
A little cumbersome to manage teams within and analytics could be improved.

Managing multiple client social profiles including scheduling posts across networks and monitoring social conversation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely worth using to simplify social management. You still need to watch the pages when things posts to double check formatting. Until you get to know the tool it can be hard to know exactly how certain things will post.
HootSuite helps for Twitter.
What do you like best about the product?
That you can schedule posts, and the auto-schedule function.
What do you dislike about the product?
Instagram on HootSuite is not fully functioning to Twitter's extent.

The ability to schedule a post for the most appropriate time has been the biggest benefit of using HootSuite.

Easy, if basic, posting and coordinating
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy, direct, and intuitive to use. The approval process allowing multiple employees to work in the account was great.
What do you dislike about the product?
We often had troubles seeing how photos would post. It seemed a stronger schedule than it did a preview of how posts would appear in multiple platforms. This wasn't a big deal; it just meant we had to do our tests and previews first.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used Hootsuite to schedule our social media presence, promote programs, and provide researched information to constituents. It was straightforward and suited our needs, but I didn't use it enough to appreciate growth potential beyond that.
What would I do without it?
What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can schedule a post far in advance and forget about it. The dashboard is also really easy to read and simple to navigate. I can type out a post once and have it post on several different social media platforms.
What do you dislike about the product?
When you schedule a post for Instagram, you still have to go into the app when the time comes and copy/paste the post into Instagram. So you really can't just schedule it and forget about it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I spend way less time on a day to day basis posting on social media- I can schedule it all at one time. I can easy browse and respond to posts from all different social media platforms all on one screen.
Love Hootsuite
What do you like best about the product?
Hootsuite's very easy to use, and it lets you manage multiple social media accounts right from your browser for very easy use. I use it every day to schedule tweets and FB posts.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it also had some more automated features, like Tweetwheel where you can arrange for the same queue of messages to be shared on a rotating basis.

Social media, scheduling tweets, etc.

Definitely check it out and try the "free" version first to make sure it's right for you.
I oversee an alumni relations department at a mid-sized public institution.
What do you like best about the product?
That my entire staff can collaborate and manage our social media accounts, preventing double posting. I like seeing our alumni interact in our posts. It's nice seeing our messages in a centralized place.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's limited as it relates to advanced posts with pictures, location, tagging etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are no longer oversharing or posting the same content. We can see what is scheduled and manage accordingly. It's nice to see the interaction with our alumni and friends all in one centralized place.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider other ways the product can benefit your team (i.e. analytics, campaigns, etc.). Also, are you managing social media accounts for other departments within your organization? See if they will share the costs.
