Great organization tool
What do you like best about the product?
The ease to personalize various aspects so that you have what you need. The ability to track analytics and performance is great too.
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of true connectivity with Instagram. I realize this isn't an issue based on Hootsuite, rather something related to Instagram. It would be ideal for all social media platforms to have instant connectivity similar to Facebook and Twitter, rather than a multi-step process that is required in Instagram.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Connecting with current and past customers. We are a youth development organization, so having the ability to easily and consistently connect with participants, parents and staff is great.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
With a free 30-day trial there's not a lot to lose! Definitely give it a try!
Keeps me from going down the rabbit hole...
What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can manage all social accounts from one dashboard, without succumbing to the temptation of being sucked into the newsfeed.
It's convenient for monitoring and responding to mentions in one spot, as well as scheduling out posts. I can spend half an hour and have posts set up for the next few days.
The Hootlet browser extension also makes it very easy to schedule an interesting post as you come across it.

What do you dislike about the product?
Uploading tweets via the CSV method can be finnickity. You can get the hang of it after a while, but then it rejects your upload for no apparent reason. Otherwise, I like that you're able to schedule up to 350 tweets at once.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating a more efficient process for managing and monitoring social media.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get the Hootlet extension- it will save you loads of time.
Social Media Junk Drawer
What do you like best about the product?
It can do pretty much everything you'd want to do with social media like scheduling/ analytics and managing multiple accounts.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a pretty dated design. It kind of feels like you're using Wordpress. It's easy enough to figure out how to get around Hoosuite, but I wish it'd get a fresh coat of paint.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have several social media accounts that rely on scheduling posts months ahead of time. We also run an annual conference where we have to track hashtags throughout the week and it gives some pretty robust stats- at least enough for us to use.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You can't really go wrong with Hootsuite, but there are other options out there that seem to be a little more streamlined and updated like Buffer.
Amazing for Smaller Companies
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to create posts months in advance on an array of different social networks - and see all networks on the same user profile.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that you had more control over the 'schedule post for me' functionality. For example. I wish I could say "post this for me at the best time on Monday through Friday, 8-5p". I feel like whenever I've done the "post for me", it's posted at like 10p - a time when my audience is not using the platforms for professional use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Trying to engage my community on social networks - something that is new to this industry.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need to be able to schedule posts far into the future, and don't want to pay for a platform to be able to do so, Hootsuite is for you.
We use it to manage our social media.
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to aggregate our social media posts from here to everywhere.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be somewhat tricky to get started. The learning curves is a bit steep.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're able to reach more people in less time. This is extremely valuable and is helping us build an audience.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Start with one or two social profiles so you can get the hang of it before going too deep. The app is very robust and almost overly so if you aren't experience with it.
Excellent for Timed Social Media Marketing, but Not Much Else
What do you like best about the product?
Hootsuite is great if you want to spread out your marketing over time but want to be able to create it all at once. It's ideally suited for timed marketing and rolling out any new campaign across any number of social media platforms, particularly Twitter. If you've linked your Twitter to Facebook and Instagram, this is ideal. Hootsuite is also really good at managing multiple accounts, so as a marketing consultant, I can work through multiple campaigns on one screen, even if they each have multiple social media accounts.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not really useful for anything else. It's also not (yet) great at attaching media to posts, particularly media that doesn't exist yet (sometimes graphics are the last things to be created). If you've got the media far enough in advance, it connects well, but sometimes Facebook doesn't post it the way you want, which leads to having to rework the post, which kind of makes the whole thing pointless. This is a mostly avoidable problem if you use it well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I create social media campaigns for small, local businesses. Hootsuite has allowed for timed social media campaigns, which are really useful for timed sales and specials, such as with local restaurants and bars. If there's a sale or an event of any kind, I can create the posts in advance, which in addition to live posts can really amp up the consumer participation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's still behind. It was revolutionary originally, but it's not kept itself ahead of the game.
Simply Does the Job
What do you like best about the product?
Hootsuite is great for what it is designed for — managing multiple social media platforms, following many feeds, and automating posting.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing more or nothing less to the software. The interface is minimally designed and nothing to write home about. You are there to do a job, not necessarily enjoy your time doing it
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hootsuite solves the problem of managing and posting on multiple social media accounts on a schedule, which is great for companies running different handles. They have various tiers and the free tier allows you to add three accounts, which is great for a small business' Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook for example. It saves time with automated posts and scheduling tools.
Experience with Hootsuite
What do you like best about the product?
I loved the expanse of the program. I could handle all my social media platforms under this one program, and track how well I was doing on each platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
While my analytics through Hootsuite were super helpful and interesting, I struggled with the price. They seemed to be overpriced, especially for me as a small business/private business person.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was able to focus on other issues and tasks in our business without having to be constantly on each social media platform, posting updates on what we were doing.
Great
What do you like best about the product?
How easy it is to schedule and manage posts.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be difficult to figure out at first.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hootsuite makes it easy to schedule multiple social media posts for clients at the same time.
Hootsuite: major time saver!
What do you like best about the product?
Hootsuite is incredible for managing multiple social media accounts whether personal, business, or otherwise. I love being able to schedule posts so that they go out at exactly the desired time and not a minute before or after. It is also great being able to allow access to pages with multiple administrators.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can get quite expensive if you want to upgrade your account, especially if you have more than one person you are wanting to be able to access the accounts. It jumps from 9.99 to 34.99 per month if you have more than one person.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used to have problems with needed to share posts at certain, inconvenient times, such as when I would have to be driving or taking care of something else. Hootsuite now takes care of it! I just have to plan it out ahead of it, set up the post and the time, and Hootsuite does the rest!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need something to help manage accounts, take the stress/scurry out of posting at a specific time, or just prefer to have access to multiple social media outlets in one place- don't skip past Hootsuite!
