Perfect solution for a small department without a dedicated social media person!

  • May 18, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Several of us try to keep up with social media for a small university department, but it's not in any of our job descriptions. Hootesuite's ability to let us schedule our posts ahead of time to multiple social media feeds has been awesome! We sit down once a month and get materials scheduled so that there's always new content in our feeds.
What do you dislike about the product?
Really wish there was an easier way to integrate with Pinterest and Instagram.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We no longer have long gaps between new content in our feeds, and we can track metrics for our social media posts--all in one place. We didn't have the time to do that before, and so we just didn't do it.

Hootsuite

  • May 11, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Hootsuite allows us to manage multiple social media accounts simultaneously while also monitoring social media activity. One of the better social media management platforms available.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest wish is that Hoostuite could post natively to Instagram without having to manually push a photo on a mobile device.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Social media managment and monitoring. Scheduling posts. Following trending hashtags.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Has more features, but more complicated than other services like Buffer and Sprout Social. Wish it had more robust analytical options.

Good low-cost solution

  • May 10, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Hootsuite is a good free to low-cost product for social media moderation and scheduling.
What do you dislike about the product?
The analytics can be a bit clunky and you have to pay extra to really use them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This was the first software we used when we didn't have a budget for a more intensive product. It was good for basic scheduling and we often use it to create streams when we want to follow a hashtag. I often recommend it for our chapters who do not have a budget for monitoring software.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Good if you need a basic and inexpensive product for social media within a small team - I have not tried to use it as an enterprise solution

Social Media Management

  • April 27, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to manage my Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn from one dashboard. I also enjoy the ability to monitor mentions and trends along side of my feeds.
What do you dislike about the product?
The free plan only allows for a few accounts to be synced. It also lacks in integrating with all of my social accounts, and only syncs with the big players in social media. It also lacks in more in depth features, like social demographics, social reporting, filtering, social ad tracking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I previously was monitoring both a community foundation and a university department's social media feeds.

A Solid Platform Lacking a Few Bells & Whistles

  • April 20, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to easily post basic social media posts to multiple platforms. I use this to post, simultaneously, to my company's Facebook, LinkedIn and two Google+ pages. We also have a twitter profile, but I generally have to post separately to Twitter because of the character limit. That said, it does handle basic sharing well, including links (including link text) and hashtags, although I don't think it works well for @mentioning a friend or other page in a post.
What do you dislike about the product?
Managing photos is often inconsistent and sometimes annoying, especially when dealing with multiple platforms simultaneously. This is likely a result of the different terminology and features used by each of the platforms, however, it means that it is usually easier to just post an album to Facebook and Google+ separately without using Hootsuite at all.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is definitely a time-saver when it comes to posting to multiple platforms, however, I could probably be using it more to actually monitor our feeds, however, our interaction isn't high enough to justify Hootsuite's use for this at this time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It definitely speeds up the posting process when using multiple platforms, however, I think you can get a lot more out of it if you are also using it to monitor your feeds, which is not something we are currently using it for (not because it doesn't do it well, but because we don't have a need for it right now).

Social Media Marketing Made Easy!

  • April 17, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Hootsuite is really awesome because it allows me to manage multiple social media accounts from one program. You can set schedules for content, and they also have apps that you can use on mobile devices as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
The amount of accounts you can manage are limited in the free version. My company is just starting, so we can manage with what they offer but we'll probably need to use the paid option as we grow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're aggressively trying to grow our company through social media marketing. Hootsuite saves us time by allowing us to manage multiple accounts from one application, and the schedule options are nice too!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
As your company grows, be prepared to invest in the paid options. It is really useful though, and they offer a lot of support about growing your social media following as well.

Nice Application for Posting Into Social Media

  • April 15, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Makes it very fast to post into various social media accounts at the same time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Well, the way the posts are done sometimes makes it obvious that it was posted by HootSuite. The trial version has a limited number of managed account. It is hard to preview how the posts will look.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Social Media
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Preview what it posts before making a final decision

Hootsuite free & Hootsuite pro

  • April 08, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Hootsuite is an excellent tool for managing social media profiles.

I've used two types: Hootsuite free (for personal use) and Hootsuite pro (for clients).

The advantages are below:
- Easy to manage all your social profiles in one place
- You can 'delegate' customer inquiries to others in your team to respond to (great for when multiple people are involved in responding via social media)
- You can track certain words or references easily in different streams
- You can pre-schedule content
- It has useful analytics

Hootsuite University is also a fantastic resource for learning how to better use the platform, and the Hootsuite Certification course is insightful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside is posting to Instagram. You can still schedule posts via Hootsuite, but Instagram needs you to authorize every post through the Instagram app specifically - meaning it is a two step process when posting content to this specific platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hootsuite enables easy management of multiple social platforms. It also allows different areas of the business to monitor and respond to inquiries - and it has a clear mechanism for 'delegating' responsibilities for responding to customer inquiries.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Hootsuite is a cost-effective solution to managing social channels.

The only downside is with Instagram - you have to log into the Instagram app specifically to post and cannot do it directly through Hootsuite.

Also while the analytics on Hootsuite are valuable, I also still rely more heavily on Google Analytics, Facebook Insights etc.

I love Hootsuite

  • April 06, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love being able to set up posts for days/weeks ahead. If I had more use for other forms of social media than the ones I use, I'd pay for the subscription. Until my regular uploads start to get me more followers and then I'll be a paying customer.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I feel like the buttons are a bit counter-intuitive, but that's something that may be more a preference thing than a "problem" I feel like there should be somewhere you can search for suggestions on things to share. I feel like always setting up to share you own specific things is difficult and can sometimes be a huge turn off for other people, but if you intersperse it with interesting blogs and articles, you might find that you are surprised by how many more people pay attention. I solved that problem by downloading the app for Chrome and now I have a button that I can use to share things using Hootsuite.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can't promote my writing while I'm at my day job. If I did, I would probably lose a lot of time at work. But I also can't just flood everyone with information while I'm not at work (and I need to rest sometimes). So I set up a bunch of posts for a week or so and it takes me about an hour, but I can copy paste when I'm reposting something several times, which I do frequently. It's helped me find time to relax.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This may be my favorite program for social media ever.
