What do you dislike about the product?
There nothing like I dislike about Rancher.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The powerful UI and CLI helps us build complex workloads at scale by giving us easy access to Kubernetes environments.
Rancher - Kubernetes-based platforms reimagined
What do you like best about the product?
My first approach to Rancher were when I have almost 5 years of expertise in building and maintaining Kubernetes-based platforms at large enterprise scale (multiple cluster, tens of projects, 300 Namespaces, 500 applications developers and administrators, thousands of Business users and clients etc.)
What I noticed the most is how complete the vision of this product is. We also considered two other main market competitors of Rancher. From the great three, only Rancher has very soft dependencies with other SUSE products. You can choose to use them (for example: Longhorn, NeuVector, KubeWarden, Harvester) but you are not forced to do so to gain full functionality of Rancher.
Rancher is like Kubernetes on steroids: easy to install and learn, hard to master but have very high ROI. Some functionalities takes months to master, but will return that time when there is high Frequency of use of them in Day-2 operations (i.e. good configuration of some infrastructure providers takes months and requires implementing changes at infrastructure layer, but when finished gives possibility to create dozens of downstream clusters in minutes).
I love it's simple subscription model, as much as I cherish that it is fully open source. If you don't know what I mean then try to "install to learn" approach with two main Rancher's market competitors... it's not possible, the closest you get is "try and buy", yuck!
Rancher provides a very well documented REST API, so it can be easily integrate your services with it i.e. We have implemented self-service of Namespace lifecycle (create/quota mgmt/delete) that integrates Rancher's authentication and authorization model wth our corporate propetriary IAM solution.

What do you dislike about the product?
Rancher has well-known roadmap with many functionalities planned, but some of them are neverending stories (i.e. We are waiting for "Projects 2.0" feature with implementation of hierarchical namespaces for over 1,5 year and it still will be available "soon").
Some internal modules are more mature than other. That is well seen on Rancher's drivers for different infrastructure and cloud providers.
Rancher is easy to implement within public cloud, but it's implementation in secure corporate air-gapped on-premise environment is uneven (some things are easy and well documented, some will bring one a lot of new grey hairs).
The multiple speeds of development of different Rancher's functionalities can lead to many breaking changes between releases, so administrators have a lot of work with every upgrade. Rancher is stable corporate-grade sofware, but every company that want to implement it at scale must have a very professional and well educated team of administrators and/or devopses.
That last but not least, the Customer Support is... the same as everywhere else in the world. Don't hesitate to open support tickets (that's the main reason you bought the subscriptions, right?), but also don't assume that they will resolve all of your problems in no time.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Maintaining multiple very similar to each other Kubernetes clusters, within two main Rancher environments (non-production and production).
Time not consumed by repetetive Day-2 operations, we can spent on developing new functionalites of our Rancher-based platforms.

now the company starting to use kubernetes and looking for complementary management enviroment, looking for deploy clusters distribution aroun all ours data centers, an Rancher can be solved that
Rancher - and finally the power is with us ... and it keeps growing
What do you like best about the product?
It is impossible to remain indifferent towards Rancher. Either one loves and accepts him in his entirety, or hates him precisely for what it is .... and it is open, good, versatile, with huge possibilities and potential to use :) Its main advantages in my opinion are openness, massive community support, freedom to change and adapt to the required needs. In addition, its well-thought-out design and well-directed development fits the needs of the market and the changing IT environment. Currently also available, the Prime and Suite versions are a comprehensive offer for companies, including a complete environment for creating containerization and virtualization platforms anywhere with many add-ons such as security, storage, observability and application collection (SLSA) and many more.
What do you dislike about the product?
The environment is constantly evolving and providing new functionalities, so any potential problems and shortcomings are a natural consequence of this development, especially since it is a platform for managing entire ecosystems across all infrastructure variants. In the current phase of its development, it is achieving ever-increasing stability and maturity, offering more and more interesting flavors, especially in enterprise offerings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Overall, it is a great platform for managing multi-cluster k8s environments :)
The benefits are obvious: a single point of view, the ability to observe and manage the entire infrastructure, including container platforms in any location.

Modern Container Management with Rancher
What do you like best about the product?
Rancher provides an easy-to-use interface that simplifies the setup, deployment, and management of Kubernetes clusters. It abstracts away much of the complexity of working directly with Kubernetes, making it accessible to a wider range of users.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are not a simplified multi tenancy functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Rancher helped us to improve our kubernetes environments in usability and functionality
using rancher to run our kubernetes platform
What do you like best about the product?
Rancher helped us to set up our kubernetes platform without any relevant knowledge. this gave us the opportunity to rely on kubernetes despite time pressure and we were able to build up our knowledge gradually.
What do you dislike about the product?
Rancher could help you even more to detect errors related to the kubernetes version to avoid incompatibilities even more.
the rancher interface could be more performant.
the rancher interface could be more performant.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
with rancher, we can make the kubernetes world accessible to our colleagues without them needing to know much. Maintaining and servicing Kubernetes clusters is very easy with Rancher
Virtual Infrastructure Practice advisor
What do you like best about the product?
ability to check cluster health in a few seconds. the userl interface is very rich and access to all cluster component very easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack a backup tool for downstream clusters. Would appreciate more complete documention on Terraform Provider and also on RKE2 cluster template.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Multi-tenant capability, Monitoring, Vsphere integration.
Best in Class Rancher
What do you like best about the product?
Ramcher has played a role in quickly setting up the Kubernetes cluster in a very short time. It is very versatile and helps in the movement and management of Kubernetes across multiple clouds and hyperscalers.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't dislike it, but there are a lot of features and characteristics available which we need to look into in detail and train the SMEs on this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It seamlessly allowed us to manage the EKS and AKS without any lock-in, helping and providing us with a lot of flexibility across the entire cloud estate through a single pane of glass. It assisted in the entire lifecycle of activities overall to the highest level.
Most consistent container solution ever
What do you like best about the product?
It was pretty simple to set up and very easy to deploy. Very different from other container solutions. When we needed technical support, they solved our problems very quickly in a very short time. It was quite successful in our automation problems.
What do you dislike about the product?
In my opinion, Rancher does not increase its awareness in the market. There should be more technical documentation and technical support teams in local languages.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We will use it for our new server virtualization solutions. Thanks to this container structure, we have the possibility of virtualization at the application level. We no longer have to set up a server for every application request.
Rancher was very easy to get setup and running as well as continued maintenance.
What do you like best about the product?
Rancher allows for the seamless management of multiple Kubernetes clusters via a single pane of glass. The ability to integrate RBAC for all Kube clusters through a single interface is a must. Their web GUI simplifies many daunting tasks for users new to Kubernetes.
What do you dislike about the product?
The downsides have been keeping up with the speed of Kubernetes and aligning the underlying Kubernetes engine (RKE) to stay within a supported matrix. I believe getting up to date with RKE2 and migrating over will help alleviate some growing pains.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been able to introduce a modern application delivery and automate their testing and deployment. Rancher has also allowed us to offer applications to end users that otherwise would be pushed to the "cloud."
