Teams streamlines collaboration but Outlook experiences occasional slowness on Mac

  • June 02, 2025
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

We use Teams for our collaboration. We use the Office 365 suite of products including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and all related tools. Mostly I use Teams, Excel, and Word. I seldom use PowerPoint because I am not required to make presentations very often. I spend almost every moment in my office using Teams to collaborate and communicate with others, along with Excel and Word.

In Office 365, you can open Excel and Word documents and even PDFs without having to save the file or navigate outside Office 365. You can save your files on OneDrive. It offers access to all the software in the Microsoft ecosystem. Through Office 365, you can access applications such as Drive, Excel, and Word.

What is most valuable?

Teams is a really good collaboration tool. You can work basically at any part of the world and communicate and collaborate with anybody, as long as they are connected to the internet. It helps with remote work, and although I don't work remotely, I have offices in Dubai and different geographical locations. It helps me connect with my colleagues and team who are not in the same geography as I am in Bangalore. Teams can facilitate team meetings, screen sharing, and organizing meetings.

Regarding security, we have two-factor authentication governed by organizational policy. When trying to login to Office 365, Teams, or any Office 365 app, we are required to provide a password and use Microsoft Authenticator to sign in using a code. This is how two-factor authentication is implemented in our organization.

Office 365 offers a suite of apps including OneNote, though I don't use it very often. In terms of integration with Microsoft ecosystem, it offers everything needed to get work done without any hassle.

What needs improvement?

I work on a Mac, and sometimes Outlook on Mac is pretty slow. I experience some latency on Outlook on my Mac. I am not sure if users encounter the same issue on Windows, but on Mac, I sometimes experience slowness on Outlook.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Office 365 for maybe 10 years. All organizations that I have worked for use or have used Office 365.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

We have a separate team who look after licensing, installation, and technical issues. If I encounter an issue, I am not required to communicate directly with Microsoft technical support. I have never encountered or faced an issue with Office 365 in the last 3 1/2 to 4 years at my current organization that required me to escalate or reach out to our in-house technical support team.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It works seamlessly without any hassle on Windows. On Mac, there are tiny glitches, but you don't encounter them very often, and by and large, it works great on Mac as well.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Large enterprises, Fortune 500, Fortune 100, Fortune 50 companies use Office 365 suite of products extensively within their organizations. Regarding scalability, I have rarely come across any outages or latency due to scaling issues. Scalability has never been an issue with Office 365.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Google Workspace and Office 365. I have also used other collaboration apps, such as Slack, which is a competitor to Microsoft Teams. As a package, Office 365 bundles many software together, making it a very compelling proposition. There are competitors such as Google Workspace and Zoho, but in terms of support and reach, Office 365 surpasses them in features and integration with the Microsoft ecosystem, especially with Azure. However, there are standalone products which are better than their counterparts in Office 365. For instance, I prefer Slack over Teams.

How was the initial setup?

I was given a machine which had Office 365 already set up, so I have no experience with the initial setup.

What about the implementation team?

We have a separate team who look after licensing, installation, and technical issues.

What was our ROI?

It works seamlessly without any hassle.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I am not aware of the cost because it's offered by my organization. They might have an agreement with Microsoft since everybody in my office uses Office 365.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have used Google Workspace outside of my current organization. I have also used other collaboration apps, such as Slack, which competes with Microsoft Teams. As a package, Office 365 bundles many software together, making it a compelling proposition.

There are competitors such as Google Workspace and Zoho, but in terms of support and reach, Office 365 surpasses them in features and integration with the Microsoft ecosystem, especially with Azure integration capabilities.

What other advice do I have?

I have been working with Xamarin only, which is my area of work. Every new employee who joins the organization is given access to Office 365. They have some kind of agreement with Microsoft. Office 365 is the only productivity suite of software that we use.

Power BI is used extensively, but we have a separate team for that. I don't work on Power BI. The solution is deployed on cloud, not on-premises.

My rating for Office 365 is 7.5 out of 10. It would be interesting to see how it performs for Linux users, as there aren't as many Linux users as Mac or Windows users.

Experience boosts efficiency and seamless teamwork through document collaboration but online usability needs improvement

  • May 30, 2025
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

We use Office 365 for ordinary regular documentation, using Excel and similar applications.

The integrations with Teams and SharePoint are beneficial as we use Teams for sharing and editing documents. The integration helps with document collaboration, though I have not used it as much as Microsoft Word.

What is most valuable?

It is a standard platform used across many organizations, making it valuable due to people's general exposure to Microsoft products.

What needs improvement?

Microsoft could improve their online apps compared to the desktop versions, as they are not easy to use. Users often face issues with typing and incorrect inputs. I have noticed that when trying to use the online version, I immediately switch to the desktop version because of its superior usability.

I would give Office 365 a rating of 7. I appreciate Office 365, but some products, such as OneNote, are somewhat outdated. There could be improvements made specifically for OneNote. While it is a tidy, neat note-taking app, there is more potential for development. However, products such as Excel and Word rank very high, though some products could perform better.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have approximately 3 to 4 years of experience with Office 365.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The desktop version is stable, but the online version has stability issues. When multiple people use a document in the online version, we encounter problems that do not occur in the desktop version. This creates an inconsistent experience between the two versions.

How are customer service and support?

I cannot rate the customer service with Microsoft on a scale of 1 to 10 as I have never faced any issues, raised concerns, or attempted to contact technical support for Office products.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

I am not familiar with the initial setup process as it was implemented organization-wide, so I am uncertain whether it was easy or difficult or if any issues were encountered.

What other advice do I have?

I am not aware if our organization purchased it through AWS marketplace.

I do not know the pricing for our Office 365 or Microsoft 365.

I would recommend Office 365 to other businesses or people considering using it, though I have not used the AI features.

Regarding documentation, I do use the online resources. The online documentation is helpful, but not as beneficial as unofficial forums such as Reddit where users share their experiences and solutions. On these unofficial forums, other users who have faced similar issues provide answers. These tend to be more accurate and updated than the official Microsoft forums and knowledge base. While the official documentation helps, I often turn to Reddit or other platforms for additional information when the knowledge base does not address my needs.

I would rate my experience with that type of support at 7 out of 10.

Overall, I rate Office 365 a 7 out of 10.

User appreciates functionality but encounters frequent format prompts

  • May 26, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I understand I'm working with or using other tools besides Huawei, such as Windows, Office 365, Zoom for communication, Linux, and similar applications.

I'm using Office 365 because it's free, so there are signals besides Huawei that I work with or have used before.

I'm using it, and it's wonderful. It's custom made for Huawei, a special version of Office 365. It's not fully open to 3 Cloud or 365 because at Huawei, we have some restricted tools within Office 365. We use them just for email, Word documents, etc. We are not able to download or use online templates or download anything from Cloud. All those features are restricted. We're using only what Huawei provided as tools.

What is most valuable?

The application is custom made for Huawei, a special version of Office 365. It's not fully open to 3 Cloud or 365 because at Huawei, we have some restricted tools within Office 365. We use them just for email, Word documents, etc. We are not able to download or use online templates or download anything from Cloud. All those features are restricted. We're using only what Huawei provided as tools.

It has been fine regarding stability-wise issues, technical errors, and downtimes, but with Microsoft there are sometimes bugs, freezing, re-downloads, or redos. They have to reload the restrictive features and license. There was an issue from my PC itself, but the good thing is they auto-recover and auto-save, so when corruption happens, we can retrieve the latest version templates from Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.

Sometimes I use templates from different versions through copy-paste. When I want to save, I get prompts about text or fonts. I need to click again and apply something to be able to save the file. When I have different styles, it is very hard to track this. To avoid checking these optics every time I want to save the file, sometimes reason pop-ups appear when saving files, indicating projects have some strange text.

What needs improvement?

The value received is limited because I still rely on many third parties to do my work. It's not enough just to have Office 365, as I'm still dependent on some external tools.

Plugins and macros could be improved, such as Mouse broadcast and automation in Excel or SharePoint workflows.

More tools are needed, especially AI integrated features. This could be better in the Office 365 sixteen version. I'm using version eleven, but it still requires more enhancements, particularly in AI capabilities.

The download speed and safety need enhancement. At Huawei, we have WPS which is lighter, much better, and can adopt PDF files. As I don't have PDF capability in Office 365, I still need Microsoft separately. If Office 365 also includes PDF file capabilities, that would be perfect. WPS is much better as it has PDF functionality, scissors tool, and is more reliable.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have never faced stability-wise issues, technical errors, or downtimes, but with Microsoft, there are sometimes bugs, freezing, re-downloads, or redos. What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is very common to have many different company topics from different slides. When you combine materials, you have different formats, and when you want to save, you get a prompt about unknown text or unknown fonts of file formatting. Every time you have to click save, there are pop-up boxes requiring confirmation, which can be annoying.

What other advice do I have?

I never used that due to restrictions. I don't raise tickets to Microsoft if I have issues or questions.

I have been using it for a long time, from version eight to nine. I can debug issues myself because I know them, but I have to run through all slides and create fresh new templates or do manual work. I have workaround solutions, but when I have complex slides and multiple materials to combine, I get prompts when saving that require additional steps.

The overall rating for Office 365 is 7 out of 10.

Office suite adapts well to diverse tasks but some applications need refinement

  • May 19, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

The features of Office 365 that have significantly enhanced my workflow productivity include Excel, which is a very good product that helps assist me with my work.

There are approximately 3,000 people using Office 365 in my organization.

What is most valuable?

As a user of Office 365, I find it to be a common Office suite that we can use for documentation, spreadsheets, and presentations to other customers.

What needs improvement?

The areas of Office 365 that have room for improvement include PowerPoint, which I think needs significant improvement or should be removed. I don't know much about OneNote, and I don't find it useful. As for Access, people use it, but it's not widely adopted. Teams is in its early stages and requires substantial improvements, though it's making progress. I particularly dislike PowerPoint, though I acknowledge others may have different opinions.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have about 3 years of experience working with Office 365 specifically, but I've been using Office for approximately 20 years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

It is deployed both on cloud and on premises.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

When rating the stability of Office 365, seven is probably reasonably good. I use Excel extensively, so sometimes it has issues because I overuse it, but based on that, it's around six or seven.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

When rating the scalability of Office 365, I would need a definition of scalability when discussing an Office suite in this case.

How are customer service and support?

I have never used technical support from Microsoft in 20-30 years.

Regarding their message board support, I think it's extremely poor. While I haven't contacted them directly, searching for solutions on the internet reveals that answers are very simple, minimal, and not very helpful.

Their actual direct contact support might be better, but I cannot verify this as I have never specifically contacted Microsoft.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

A long time ago, I was a volume seller, but now I'm just a user of Microsoft solutions.

How was the initial setup?

Regarding the initial setup of Office 365, I can't fully evaluate it because I've been using Office for so many years that Office 365 didn't seem significantly different. I use many languages and sometimes need to download packages for each language, but I experienced absolutely no issues, making it a reasonably easy solution to install.

What about the implementation team?

I did not face any challenges while integrating Office 365 with other tools.

What was our ROI?

I swapped the computer and the performance improved, but that has nothing to do with Office 365 itself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

When I purchased Office 365 myself, it was somewhat expensive. Recently it increased in price by approximately 20 percent, and I'm not sure if this increase is justified as I don't see any explicit features that are helpful.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

There should be more options to not use PowerPoint or Access so that people who just consider using Word or Excel would have better options.

What other advice do I have?

I might be using Horizon in the next couple of months, though I'm not sure. I have extensive experience with Office 365. If organizations need it, I would recommend it, as Excel is a very good program and Word is quite a good program.

I rate Office 365 a 6 out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Integration of additional icons has improved work efficiency, but support accessibility remains challenging

  • May 14, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I am just a user. It is on the cloud, so it is much better. I can use it wherever I want.

What is most valuable?

Office 365 is a pretty stable solution. It is in the cloud, so I can use all the documents that I have anywhere I want. There is one very good feature that I have. When I use SharePoint along with it, it makes life a lot easier for us, especially when I have to share documents or files with other clients.

What needs improvement?

There is really not much difference between Office 365 and standalone MS Office. However, regarding PowerPoint, while the icons are there, I wish it was as good as Apple's presentation software because it is easier to create PowerPoint presentations with Apple's equivalent software. They could have done better work if they had provided that functionality.

To be very honest, we use Cute FTP to transfer most files, and if they had FTP portals which they could guarantee were secure, that would be a great help. Then I would not have to start Cute FTP and perform all those operations. I do not know whether Office 365 has that functionality because I have not seen it, but it would have been quite beneficial if it was there.

For how long have I used the solution?

It is easy to deploy. It is not rocket science, but deploying information over the cloud is something that I am very skeptical about. I usually use Cute FTP or FTP-type solutions, as it is more secure compared to sending or sharing information. I do use cloud sharing, but only for documents that are not secretive or sensitive. I mainly use FTP to load or unload sensitive data. Other than that, insensitive data is just a matter of using a shared drive.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Regarding productivity gains, we have no issues with Microsoft. It is a very good service that they provide. The only problem I have seen is that Windows 11 gives many problems, especially when it updates your software. Everything slows down, every application slows down. I have reverted back to Windows 10 because Microsoft Windows 11 is not working for me. Let us see how things work out.

How are customer service and support?

It is very difficult to get hold of Microsoft support people or any support people, including Amazon. There are too many automated processes that you need to go through, and even then you do not know whether you will be able to speak to them.

How would you rate customer service and support?

What other advice do I have?

It is pretty good, to be very honest. In PowerPoint, if I just use it as a standalone software, the number of icons available is comparatively less in standalone Microsoft PowerPoint compared to Office 365. Additionally, it is easier to integrate other icons into Office 365 than into normal, standalone PowerPoint presentation solutions. It is not that I cannot do it. We have developed a tool through which we can integrate it completely, but it took us a while to figure things out.

There is not much difference in Excel or Word, at least I have not come across much difference. We are not doing much with AI as yet.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Experience has improved productivity but login issues persist

  • May 12, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

They have replaced all my normal software with this stuff, and it is what I have to use because I do not set up my computer as IT people do it. It includes Office 365 applications such as Excel, Outlook, and Word.

What is most valuable?

They are basically identical.

I could not really say; it is just a system that delivers Excel and Outlook for me, so I had it before, and I have it now. It is just packaged differently; I do not see a difference in terms of that question.

They work sufficiently.

I suppose so; I do not think there are any alternatives. It is a monopoly.

What needs improvement?

It is a pain to use, to be honest.

Always having to log in repeatedly multiple times during the week is frustrating. Not being sure how it is connected to the cloud remains a gray zone.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using it for a couple of years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable, but something is using up a lot of RAM and CPU percentage, so it is slower than it used to be.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I just use my internal people.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I use Google sheets for personal use.

I know Office 365 Excel has functionality, but Google sheets works a bit quicker running on my machine, though my spreadsheets on that system were a bit more simple, so that might be a factor.

What other advice do I have?

I use Polarion.

I have not used it much in the last year.

I have no idea about the installation as it just appears on my computer.

I am just a single user.

The organization has at least 30,000 users.

This review rates Office 365 as six out of ten.

Maximizing productivity with extensive features while dealing with integration challenges

  • May 02, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Primarily, I use Office 365 and Teams for various tasks. My firm works as a consulting and IT solution provider for small and micro businesses. We use Office 365 for a range of applications like Teams, Exchange, Outlook, SharePoint, Power Application, and Power Apps.

What is most valuable?

I find the extensive list of features in Office 365 tremendously valuable, including Teams, Exchange, Outlook, SharePoint, Power Application, and Power Apps. In particular, I am an end user, and I consult my partner firms to use Office 365 and Teams. I have found that Teams and Outlook are my primary applications. Furthermore, I like Copilot Pro, which I have licensed for use with Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word; it often provides excellent information and guidelines.

What needs improvement?

I have issues with call licensing problems, and there is a lack of good information about PBX and IT integration with Teams. Questions regarding licensing, such as the appropriate license needed for integration with PBX or for supporting call centers and IVRs, are common, along with inquiries about pricing for domestic and international phone calls. Additionally, I would appreciate more documentation on specific integrations.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Office 365 for a few years, maybe five or more.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

The initial setup is not entirely easy. A setup may require changing configurations in Exchange and Teams, but overall it is manageable. Although not every deployment is straightforward, I do not spend excessive time resolving problems. The setup is flexible.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the stability of Office 365 as eight out of ten, indicating room for improvement. Specifically, Microsoft Teams can have issues sometimes. Today, for instance, I was unable to log in to my Teams account for over an hour on my mobile. This might be due to my mobile operator or a Microsoft issue.

How are customer service and support?

In a case a few months ago, I assisted a non-profit organization, and I can say that communication has greatly improved with Microsoft. Everything was finished within five to seven days, and the support was cooperative, providing good guidelines. Microsoft is consistently improving in this type of communication.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have only used Microsoft solutions, primarily because my technical team consists of Microsoft-certified professionals. We have no experience with Linux, Google, or other platforms.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup can vary depending on the client's requirements. Some setups are quick and fast, taking little time, while others require more effort from my team, especially when clients are uncertain about their needs.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

In Serbia, IT is considered expensive because our monthly budget comparison to the rest of Europe is low. With an average salary of 500 euros, Office 365 appears expensive. Many clients request discounts.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I did not evaluate other options because my technical team is composed of Microsoft-certified professionals.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate Office 365 as seven out of ten, taking into account the areas for improvement.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Integration across applications facilitates seamless workflow but authentication and virus protection need attention

  • April 28, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I have been using Microsoft 365 as it operates in the background and integrates with my other Microsoft apps. It is something that we have because I use Microsoft products for all my work.

How has it helped my organization?

Microsoft 365 operates seamlessly in the background, allowing us to perform tasks across different Microsoft applications.

What is most valuable?

I primarily use PowerPoint quite a bit these days. Microsoft 365 works in the background and integrates with all the Microsoft Suite applications. All the apps I use are primarily Microsoft apps, which makes everything I do work seamlessly with Microsoft products.

What needs improvement?

The main issue is with the Microsoft Authenticator, which sometimes does not work as expected, causing a hassle. Additionally, Microsoft Defender sometimes does not work well with other antivirus software, causing conflicts. I often end up using Google Authenticator as an alternative.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft 365 for about three to four years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

There were no issues with the deployment of Microsoft 365 for us.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We are a very small company with active users being less than ten, so scalability has not been an issue for us.

How are customer service and support?

I feel frustrated with Microsoft support sometimes, rating it a five. It is difficult to get through to support, and they often refer us to guides to solve problems rather than providing direct support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Microsoft 365 was straightforward and not problematic.

What about the implementation team?

The setup was completed in less than 30 minutes.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I do not have any problems with the pricing of Microsoft 365.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I compare Microsoft 365 to Google products. I have worked with Google through some clients, and my experience suggests that Google's platform seems more secure and better for live, real-time collaboration.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Microsoft 365 to other businesses as it is a better product compared to its competitors. I rate the overall solution a seven out of ten.

AI features boost productivity but discovering Excel functionalities poses challenges

  • April 24, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Microsoft 365 for the office package and Teams for calls and meetings. With Microsoft 365, I use applications like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

What is most valuable?

The most helpful feature I find in Microsoft 365 is the use of AI features, like Copilot, which allows for creating PowerPoint presentations through AI. It can increase efficiency, for instance, by enabling automated summaries in Word documents for different roles. This provides significant time savings and boosts productivity overall.

What needs improvement?

There could be an easier way to find features in Excel. For example, implementing formulas could be made simpler by improving feature discoverability.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft 365 for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Sometimes with Excel, if different Excel files are related and access to one is unavailable, the Excel file in use may collapse. This means some data cannot be seen, which is a stability issue.

How are customer service and support?

I have never contacted Microsoft's support because my company's IT team handles any issues I face.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I only work with Microsoft tools.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I find Microsoft 365 to be cost-effective, and it offers good value for the price paid.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Microsoft 365 a seven out of ten. I would rate Office 365 a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Collaboration and documentation improve project management, but security needs enhancement

  • April 18, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I mostly use Office 365 for project management and reporting. I utilize tools like Excel, Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Suites, and others primarily for collaboration, documentation, and compliance reporting.

What is most valuable?

Office 365 is particularly valuable for collaboration, reporting, and documentation related to compliance. The tools are utilized for project management as well, with Excel, Jira, Confluence, and the Microsoft Suite playing significant roles.

What needs improvement?

When buying an external product, I believe the security is lower. Therefore, there is room for improvement or development internally for better security.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Office 365 for more than ten years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

From time to time, I face minor issues, but nothing really major has occurred.

How are customer service and support?

I mostly rely on the community for support and have not had any direct contact with Microsoft's technical support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

I was not involved in the deployment of the tools.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I do not have a clear understanding of the cost, as I use the tools provided by the customer. I know they are quite expensive.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Office 365 six out of ten. It does the job without much excitement and fits the needs of people due to a lack of alternatives. However, it is known to be quite expensive.
