Workiva connected to financial data makes filing a breeze
What do you like best about the product?
I can't imagine filing without Workiva. I would start with the rollforward process: it's so easy to roll the document and change the dates and verbiage throughout the filing. Secondly, we have data being fed directly to the document and 90% of my financial disclosures are populated by just sucking in my trial balance, balance sheet, and income statement from my ERP. The platform itself is intuitive and as easy to use as Word.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were a way to schedule a filing to file automatically at a particular time. For example, if I have locked a document and it's ready to file at noon, but i dont want to file it until 4 pm.....there should be a way to schedule the filing assuming no changes are made. As it stands now, I have to be on the platform, waiting for the time I want to file and hit the button at that time. It's a slight nuance, but it would be a nice feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps reduced the time from financial close to when the filing is ready to file. It gives me more control over my document without having to rely on traditional printers.
Easy to use and helpful solution
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to collaborate on SEC filings with people across my organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
they do not have any integrations or partnerships with brokers that would let certain fields in their section 16 module auto populate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Work even lets you more easily draft, review, and file SEC filings, both 33 act and 34 act.
Most efficient way to produce SEC financials in a collaborative way.
What do you like best about the product?
Linking and automation to ERP system GL. Also being able to work collaboratively in sequence both internally and externally with consultants, workiva support and XBRL tagging all at once.
What do you dislike about the product?
Both good and bad, it is very similiar to Excel functions. This helps for usability as well as data transfer. I would just hope a separate system would have more added features / dynamic capabilities built in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaborative working. Historical retention. Linking between documents and periods, and in between peices of the document. Also, we utilize XBRL tagging from Workiva and this is a must have for us.
Good platform; more efficient than alternatives (printers) - but still some surprising limitations
What do you like best about the product?
The linking in Workiva is definitely a game changer. I've worked in Workiva on the company side (my current capacity) as well as on the professional services side (advising other companies), and the linking of the excel support to the word document saves a ton of time in both preparation and review of key financial reporting documents.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some surprising limitations to Workiva. I am at a relatively small company and I know larger companies that work on the platform, and we ran into very surprising data limitations when initially loading our financial statement support - meaning there was support that we had to maintain offline (such as an exercises report) because there was too much data for the platform to handle - this was honestly kind of shocking considering that we don't have a crazy amount of data. When I brought this up to our support contact, they let me know there was some additional package we could purchase to help them process our data - which was pretty irritating. Also, a lot of the traditional simple formulas that work in google sheets and excel either don't work in Workiva, or work differently, which is irritating because when you upload files, formulas break and more work is required just to get the data to work in Workiva.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workiva is solving issues with collaboration and inefficiencies from not being able to link in Microsoft - this benefits the team because we are able to save time in preparation and review.
Some growing pains with initial set-up but excited for potential
What do you like best about the product?
The relational database that allows updates to one attribute (say a control description for example) to flow through to any other report or matrix in which the attribute is listed is a major time saving and helps keep records consistent across disparate reports. Support team has been quick to help with early questions, usually receiving a response within 24 hours as well as support on weekends where required on initial set-up. Excited to see how we can streamline all of our requests in the system and potentially consolidate external audit requests into our own platform so that auditees don't have to field redundant requests. Frequent updates to the system so do feel like software will be supported well going forward.
What do you dislike about the product?
Markup viewer when working with workpapers can be a little restrictive (text formatting options and hyperlinking between workpapers are areas I'd like to see expanded on). Not really a drawback with Workiva, but be cognizant when implementing that your IT team closely follows the whitelisting, SSL inspection, and port instructions. These may also need to be adjusted within any on prem VPN or firewall solution as well (so configs may need to be updated in multiple places). Not really a drawback to Workiva, but we encountered performance issues early on that were due to needing to whitelist and make adjustments to settings on multiple network layers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Streamlining the PBC request process, producing significant time savings by data linkages, and allowing us to move into a more modern platform and cloud based solution. We'll surely see more benefits but have only been live for a couple months so still much more to learn and explore (will try to update this review at a later date with any new feedback).
User friendly, customer service is professional and timely, several training opportunities available
What do you like best about the product?
I like the audit trail in the workbook where you can see all that has taken place in one cell.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that everything is in real time in the document. Someone can accidentally type something and not know.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I currently don't have any problems with workiva
Workiva makes your External Reporting more efficient
What do you like best about the product?
I like using Workiva because it is a solution that allows you to collect, store, organize and submit your filing all in one place.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I can think of is if it allowed you to do a blackline comparison across folders, i.e, compare my Q2 filing to my Q1 filing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workiva is constantly adding new features to make it a one-stop shop. I recently started to use the review and tie-out features that were recently launched.

What do you like best about the product?
It is really easy to get connected to Workiva. The application is efficient, user friendly and adaptable to your need while being professional.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would have like to have several platform for the different domain of hte company. Having everyone visible to me make it risky in term of access process.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My team and I are working in several Workiva projects in Spain for FSI, mainly related to ESEF, annual & quarterly financial reporting and, lately ESG activities.
