Great product for our needs
What do you like best about the product?
Cloud-based service to make it easy to collaborate. Account and Reporting contacts at Workiva are very responsive. Easy to set up and manage filings.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have a lot of data inside wdesk which can cause the files to slow down. Having many individuals working on the same file can also cause latency issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workiva provides us with a financial reporting solution which allows us to be mostly self sufficient in our filings with the SEC.
Workiva Provides Superior User Experience for our SEC Reporting Workspace.
What do you like best about the product?
This is our 6th fiscal year using the SEC Reporting workspace in Wdesk. When we adopted Workiva, we moved from a competitor that had about an 1/8th the capability of Workiva at that time. We have never regretted our switch.
With each year, Workiva has continued to expand and update its capabilities in the SEC Reporting and XBRL arena. Our service managers and the support staff have been prompt in providing help and assistance when we needed it. The tool is slick and user-friendly, allowing us to easily understand and adopt the new capabilities that come down through the pipes each quarter. I am aware of upcoming enhancements in the pipeline as well.
Our company also uses Workiva for our SOX processes. This year, we were so pleased that we expanded our use of that Workspace. I love the performance and the tool.

What do you dislike about the product?
Of course, I wish the tool was less costly. In the end, though, I can safely say that we get what we pay for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use the tool for our SEC Edgar filings and XBRL tagging. The difference in the amount of time involved in the overall filing experience is night and day from what it was 6 years ago.
SS review Workiva
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to get into as it is similiar to Word/Excel. Easily tracks changes and who made them. XBRL helps remind people of concepts especially numbers that should actually match.
What do you dislike about the product?
Don't completely understand how the permission works for users overall, then permissions for individual files/folders. Which has precedence? Not sure why my Edgar CCC doesn't carry forward. I always have to update that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping the integrity of the Q's and K's and filing them. Easy to find out who changed things in case if something was wrong. Easy to rollforward (saves times moving between quarters). Non-printing sections help with the Ks as some of the requirements change.

What do you like best about the product?
The platform is user friendly and easy to navigate. Customer support is always very helpful in providing insight on any questions I have.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not have anything thus far I dislike about the platform.

Being able to manage 10K and 10Q filings easily.

Ability to configure things to meet our needs. The customer support team is responsive.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel like there is no 'gold standard' or best practices information shared with us -- and it would be nice if there would be, so that we do not have to reinvent the wheel every time we want something.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are part of a system of farm credit associations, so they are helping us to meet reporting requirements of the system, and helping us eliminate some of the manual reporting that we have been doing.
Best financial reporting software out there
What do you like best about the product?
Very user-friendly and provides a great review platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be slow at times when dealing with large amounts of data in the spreadsheets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
XBRL and financial reporting. We utilize Workiva's XBRL team to completely outsource that need.
Awesome Customer Service
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Workiva is the customer service. They respond very quickly, sometimes within minutes, to questions or issues. I also like the ability to link between tables so that there is less manual entry. Workiva has also made updates to the SEC filing process that makes it easy and user friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes some time to really understand how to use Workiva. While it does act like Microsoft Word in many aspects, there are some features that are different and can be time consuming to figure out. The issue is usually just dealing with formatting problems. However, there user guides are typically very helpful and if you can't figure it out on your own, customer service is always available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us to file our SEC filings in house rather than use an outside vendor. It also does provide some automation that helps to eliminate manual entry errors. It also allows us to keep track of and update our SOX controls easily.
Excellent Functionality and Support
What do you like best about the product?
The functionality of linking the external facing document to an underlying support workbook helps reduce errors and speed up drafting and review. The ability to file directly from the system is beneficial, and the support from the Workiva staff in helping with the XBRL tagging and any troubleshooting has always been good. Version histories, blacklines, and the ability to set permissions for users are all helpful features. Overall, it is a good system and helps produce high-quality SEC filings.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the tracked changes features could be improved. Exporting documents to a word document with only certain types of changes can be hit or miss at times, but overall it is not a significant drawback.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quality control is the biggest benefit. Linking number disclosures to an underlying excel workbook helps to make sure a number gets updated throughout the document. Additionally, with the workbook, it is possible to help set up formula checks to make sure even simple things like footing are not missed.
