Ability to configure things to meet our needs. The customer support team is responsive.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel like there is no 'gold standard' or best practices information shared with us -- and it would be nice if there would be, so that we do not have to reinvent the wheel every time we want something.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are part of a system of farm credit associations, so they are helping us to meet reporting requirements of the system, and helping us eliminate some of the manual reporting that we have been doing.
Best financial reporting software out there
What do you like best about the product?
Very user-friendly and provides a great review platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be slow at times when dealing with large amounts of data in the spreadsheets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
XBRL and financial reporting. We utilize Workiva's XBRL team to completely outsource that need.
Awesome Customer Service
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Workiva is the customer service. They respond very quickly, sometimes within minutes, to questions or issues. I also like the ability to link between tables so that there is less manual entry. Workiva has also made updates to the SEC filing process that makes it easy and user friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes some time to really understand how to use Workiva. While it does act like Microsoft Word in many aspects, there are some features that are different and can be time consuming to figure out. The issue is usually just dealing with formatting problems. However, there user guides are typically very helpful and if you can't figure it out on your own, customer service is always available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us to file our SEC filings in house rather than use an outside vendor. It also does provide some automation that helps to eliminate manual entry errors. It also allows us to keep track of and update our SOX controls easily.
Excellent Functionality and Support
What do you like best about the product?
The functionality of linking the external facing document to an underlying support workbook helps reduce errors and speed up drafting and review. The ability to file directly from the system is beneficial, and the support from the Workiva staff in helping with the XBRL tagging and any troubleshooting has always been good. Version histories, blacklines, and the ability to set permissions for users are all helpful features. Overall, it is a good system and helps produce high-quality SEC filings.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the tracked changes features could be improved. Exporting documents to a word document with only certain types of changes can be hit or miss at times, but overall it is not a significant drawback.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quality control is the biggest benefit. Linking number disclosures to an underlying excel workbook helps to make sure a number gets updated throughout the document. Additionally, with the workbook, it is possible to help set up formula checks to make sure even simple things like footing are not missed.

The help desk (by phone) are responsive, and they help me a lot

I ran into various problems when doing XBRL through Workiva.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I believe automation is one of Workiva's main features but I do not quite understand what it can do to benefit me.

What do you like best about the product?
Workiva's SEC platform's transparency on document revisions and versions has been really helpful. I like the ease of linking sources to the draft document.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the occasional glitches of the platform where your changes are not saved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workiva has been helpful in improving our documentation by providing improvements on the functionality of the platform.
Intuitive Software for Financial Reporting
What do you like best about the product?
An easy and effective method to keep data consistent across multiple deliverables.
What do you dislike about the product?
A little learning is required to bridge the gap between functions in Microsoft Office Suites and Workiva.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workiva helps with version control and ensures all financial reporting outputs are consistent without worrying that the numbers will be different.

1. Minor issues for certain team members not being able to update control operators in the design tab or other minor items even when they have the right access
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Admin time slightly reduced via audit management software instead of Word suites. Also able to add unlimited users to send PBC requests or approve QAR as audit projects
