Contentful helps me understand how my company is organizing CMS and how to align with company goals

  • August 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can update and troubleshoot the website in real-time, with previews for my internal team so I can ensure I collect approvals and track what was changed.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Contentful is the best option, I also wish there was a way that a website map was auto-populated so we could see the big picture in real-time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having a place to put our CMS and have the entire team access it and own parts of the website is great. It helps us communicated with each other, demonstrate messaging and technical advancements, and create growth for the company through our combined efforts.

What do you like best about the product?
Features such as Webhooks and UI Extensions are the best to work and makes a developers life much easier
What do you dislike about the product?
Content modeling architecture, if done thoughtfully in the initial stages could be a PRO. If Not, it could be a nightmare to remodel
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Trying to replace legacy Wordpress which does not support features such as bulk upload of assets could be done using Contentful

Excellent CMS. Very intuitive! Glad we make the switch.

What do you like best about the product?
The Contentful UI and the customization is the best part of Contentful. We have many more options than we had before, and even people who are not tech savvy find it easy to use and understand. We changed from Expression Engine to Contentful and it's been a wonderful move.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice to get more updates on future releases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were finding our past CMS to be very clunky and not easy to understand. Filtering and passing information along to our other systems and internal teams was difficult. We found it much easier to make custom updates as well. Development was able to make updates and custom fields much quicker.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend it. It is very intuitive and a lot of different employee roles can use it.

What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy is to change the content using contentful. If you know how to use lego bricks, you will be able to build content!
What do you dislike about the product?
its not contenful fault at all, but the page sometimes is cached, and i struggle a few times with making changes as i couldn't see them live on site.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
if you like me: no html, no css, no dev skills and you never knew what is
or , then you will love the way how contentfull works.

Easy to use for a large organization

  • August 18, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Once you have used it for modeling your website, you can start teaching all the content creators in your organization how to use it. It is easy to be used by non-technical roles to change the content quickly and easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
When you change something (an image, a text, a title), you have to apply it to see how it will look on your website. A preview space will be better, so you don´t have to go live with changes without knowing how they will look.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Contentful, you can have several content creators changing content (images, videos, texts, titles) easily and quickly. And they can be working simultaneously on several landing pages without needing a developer´s help

My view is a great addition.
Publish history and Versions are superb.
The editor is good.

Reusable components and their related functions suck.
No way to conditionalize text for different versions.
Single sourcing (write once, publish anywhere) is not so great.

Image editing needs improvement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Content publishing
Content structure
In-product help

Wonderful CMS for an engineering-focused organization

  • August 17, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's a great solution for any engineering organization looking for a modern CMS.

Contentful provides features I would consider mandatory for anyone looking at this space.

- Internationalization (i18n / Locale) Support
- Sandbox Enviroments
- Clean REST and GraphQL API
- SDK in all major programming languages
- Content versioning
- Asset CDN with on the fly transformations
- Webhook support
What do you dislike about the product?
In the CMS space, there are no perfect bullets but I wouldn't encorage non-technical organizations to use Contentful.

- The content authoring UX can be painful for non-technical users
- The CMS does not seem suited to handle general purpose marketing websites
- Exceeding plan limits can be very expensive
- No public roadmap for upcoming features
- Internal culture of "build it yourself" (especially regarding UX fuctionality requests)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Marketing websites. Our sites are fast and very secure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Contentful provides an excellent service offering, but remember:

- This is a headless CMS; implementation details are your responsibility.
- Have you seriously trialed the product and drafted a comprehensive implementation plan?
- Are you able to hire expierenced developers who can maintain this system?

What do you dislike about the product?

Templates for automated communications.

What do you like best about the product?
How much information there is, and how flexible the whole product it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing in particular to mention. The tool is great and does what we need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We reduced to cost to new features, by using a much simpler approach. We also are able to give production users much more options in how they structure the content.
