Fantastic product. I t has upped our research game.
What do you like best about the product?
The tagging and transcript functions are great tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Transcripts in other languages (spanish, portuguese) lack a bit of calibration
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Structuring and sharing learnings in a concise, digestible and engaging way company-wide.
Amazing for research
What do you like best about the product?
Since I work mostly on research, specifically user interviews, the best and most helpful part for me is the possibility of uploading a video and having an automated transcription of it. So I don't need to take notes while talking to people or listen to the video several times and manually do everything.
What do you dislike about the product?
Maybe having the transcript be a bit more accurate, it often happens to be wrong, and I have to edit it manually. To be honest, I still haven't gotten to know everything Dovetail offers. In the future, I might have more to add to this question.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As I mentioned before, It's saving my time and making my job much easier. I don't need to re-listen to videos of the interviews, or take notes. I have the transcript, I can edit it if it didn't catch a phrase correctly and there is a tagging system so you can basically highlight everything important from that interview
Great platform for managing and performing research
What do you like best about the product?
It's cloud-based, intuitive to use, easy to integrate and has great support.
What do you dislike about the product?
At the moment bringing in more quantitative research/insights is complicated, even embedding visualisations into stories is not a straightforward task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Bring the research process from research brief to insight (you may still have to use other ideation/project management tools tho)
Incredible tool to transcribe both customers and team calls
What do you like best about the product?
How simple the UI is to navigate. Segmenting between projects is easy too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some errors every once in a while so transcription needs editing sometimes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simplifying communication, either between users and their feedback or internal calls with the team.
A neat little toolkit for UX researchers
What do you like best about the product?
Its best use is as a research repository. It's much better than keeping interview notes in Google Docs or spreadsheets. I also like the built-in transcription.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's pricing plans are a bit confusing. And the free version doesn't really give you enough to set up a proof of concept.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
How to make qualitative user resarch more accessible to non-researchers. This enhances the value prop of a UXR team.
Gather all your customer's feedback in one place
What do you like best about the product?
You can have all your customer feedback gathered and analyzed in one place
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't enjoy very much the latest changes on the tool and pricing
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gather feedback in one place, transcribe videos, be able to tag insights
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Easy to use and intuitive, really didn't explore the tool until the end and probably not using all the functionalities
Easy to store research, but not consistently
What do you like best about the product?
- Easy to create a research project
- Simple drag and drop addition of files inline to pages
- Tagging transcripts of video calls
- Regular updates by the product team
- Very flexible tool for structuring individual research projects

What do you dislike about the product?
- Limited text formatting and page layout options on insights and data pages -- less available here than in stories
- Search is powerful, but the results are presented in an unstructured manner that has limited options for quickly filter narrowing down
- The more research projects from various people in our organization get added into our Dovetail repository, the messier and more cluttered the repository feels, making it feel less approachable to non-researchers.
- People management feels very basic so far. It's essentially a way to find pages and clips that an individual has been specifically tied to. There are not reporting features built in to give insights into often people are participating in research, or to organize them according to persona type.
- It would be nice to have a dedicated space in Dovetail where we could embed our UX Playbook for our researchers and non researchers alike

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to use Dovetail to store our projects, and use it as an ongoing resource for our UX Researchers. It is enabling us to roll out ResearchOps, if imperfectly. Some of our PWDRs (people who do research that don't have "researcher" in their title) are comfortable in Dovetail, but others would rather use Confluence as a place to store their insights. As a UX Researcher, I have been able to use Dovetail as a secondary research source, finding and utilizing findings from studies that I was not originally involved with to gain fresh insights for the teams I work with.
Dovetail is very useful but it lacks some features in comparisson with other Research Repositories
What do you like best about the product?
The UI is gorgeous, it gives an idea of simplicity that's hard to achieve. The transcriptions work very well in different languages
What do you dislike about the product?
The freemium plan doesn't work because it has a limit on the transcriptions. if you want to test it out for real you'll have to pay. No granularity when classifying user comments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organizing the research repository to make it scalable
Great platform and very eye-opening analyzes
What do you like best about the product?
What I liked most about Dovetail and what worked for me the best and my business would be the accuracy of their data analysis platform compared to a researcher and/or analyst that we had in-house.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although their were many benefits to Dovetail, I would say that I haven't experienced any shortfalls quite yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Saving time in the business has been a huge success and benefit by using Dovetail.
The Premier Research Insights Solution
What do you like best about the product?
The global tags contained in the "extensions" make it incredibly easy to organize research insights for new projects thereby avoiding duplicate research.
What do you dislike about the product?
Most of my time is spent tagging transcript sections rather than analyzing the research. An integration with Zoom or a way to tag notes with timestamps would save me hours of work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating easily digestible insights helps product owners get to the roots of the issues they're trying to solve. Having these insights directly tied to transcript items provides validity to the research.
