The best platform to find out what your target users really think
What do you like best about the product?
The Transcript function! It's the best. It's helped our team skim through dialogues much faster, and tag the helpful insights for the project.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the Highlights don't show all the things that we've tagged, and we've had to work around certain words.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helped us to keep our research projects tidy, streamline the insights –and most importantly, we can present to the team that way! Just amazing insights, and they can listen to real conversations from customers. No more annoying powerpoints.
Dovetail makes synthesis so easy!
What do you like best about the product?
Dovetail has fantastic features, but one of its best is the ability to transform video and audio into transcripts in minutes. The tool allows synthesis to become much faster so that you can truly glean insights by quickly scanning across the transcript. Another feature that distinguishes Dovetail is its tagging capabilities--you can highlight a quote in the transcript, which allows you to compile and synthesize themes. The more you tag notable quotes throughout the transcript, the easier it is for you to come back and click on the tag so that you can see all the video quotes associated with that theme. This feature provides an easy way to get your team collaborating quickly and is also great for pulling up to clients or stakeholders to take them on the customer journey with you. Dovetail is an incredibly powerful tool that makes a huge difference in the ease with which you can complete your interview synthesis.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing so far--I think the product can be improved with some auto-tagging features--perhaps when a user searches for a word throughout all the data, there could be a feature that allows "tag all" and compile the quotes around that word to be instantly viewable. I do find that some team members may have a bit of a learning curve the first time they are using the tool, and it takes a little tutorial to get them used to it and seeing the value. However, once someone hits that threshold of using the tool, it really becomes addicting!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems I'm solving with Dovetail are: interview synthesis, showing clients and stakeholders the evidence and quotes necessary to building the right product. Benefits are that Dovetail allows me to do all of this faster, in a more impactful way and helps me look like a rockstar.
Very intuitive research analysis software
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to upload data (videos, texts) easily, have videos automatically transcribed (fairly accurately), code, analyze, and even make highlight reels of videos. It's so nice.
What do you dislike about the product?
As a user who is authorized to edit, you can do so many things. But as a viewer or a guest, what you can do is very limited. Dovetail is really powerful as analysis software, but not really as a way to share research or use it as a repository for everyone to access.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analyzing research data, primarily qualitative data. The benefits are that you can consolidate tasks for which you may have been using a bunch of different products - you can be a lot more efficient because everything you need to do for research analysis is inside Dovetail.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try! It may change how you analyze research data.
Invaluable resource for influencer marketing professionals
What do you like best about the product?
Dovetail categorizes data on influencers that often shared anecdotally; the tools makes it much easier to assess a partner for a campaign. Their data is holistic.
What do you dislike about the product?
The filtering tools can feel unwieldy; I wish there was an easier way to compare two influencers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dovetail puts rigor behind our influencer programs, allowing us to review data to sell better to clients and set better KPIs.
If you are a user researcher Dovetail is a must for you!
What do you like best about the product?
You can put all your research in one place, TAG them with your findings, create an insight sheet to share with your team.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is excellent that it can create a video transcript, but sometimes the text of the transcript is not what the user has said, and there is no way to edit the transcripts.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before Dovetail, I had to use different platforms for my UX research materials. Dovetail has helped me to gather all data in one place and create a meaningful report.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it for a bit or watch a Youtube video about how it works, then you realise you definately need it!
Totally Upped Our User Testing Game
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to tag videos, create simple taxonomies and quickly pull together insights has moved us from analyzing and synthesizing customer feedback from weeks to hours. The entire platform is incredibly flexible and user-friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish I could customize images and formatting more easily.

Quick synthesis of customer feedback videos and sharing insights with the team.

10000000% recommend! This is so easy to use and a perfect pairing for User Testing or Lookback if you're doing user videos as part of your testing strategy.

What do you like best about the product?
Dovetail's tagging tool has changed how the design team analyses user interviews to be more systematic and methodological. It has allowed me to find, organise and share insights and interview snippets with the broader company more efficiently. Great product. They've thought of everything!
What do you dislike about the product?
Found a small bug, but I asked the support group how to get around it, and it was a straightforward fix. The team are very responsive and are proactively answering customer questions. They seem to be moving at a ridiculously fast pace.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to collate all insights, recordings, videos, notes in one place. It's allowed me to tag as well. Previously it was a very manual process. I used to use a trello board, listen and taken notes, and everything was kinda messy.

Analytics feature, and transcribing the recordings is the most valuable feature of the dovetail.

More knowledge is necessary for the customers to use it properly.

I like the way it propels UX research to be done properly from fact to insights

I would like the insights cards to be more flexible - perhaps Notion style in terms of input and editing and exportable

archiving research, unfolding even more insights than initially done through quick and dirty approach
My new best friend for research
What do you like best about the product?
Dovetail is such a wonderful tool for interviewing users. It's easy to adapt to the workflow needs of any project. I love how it indexes my highlights and allows me to see how often certain topics occur in my notes. It makes it much easier to make informed product decisions. I can't imagine approaching a project without it. It's an essential part of my research toolbelt.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have anything bad to say about Dovetail! Every feature is high quality. You can tell it's made with love. It's a joy to work with!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dovetail makes it much easier to make informed product decisions based on interviews with customers. I've used it to take extensive notes on sales conversations and notes on conversations about new features with customers. We do all of our concept tests in Dovetail. I love how adaptable it is.
