What do you like best about the product?
The Dovetail team understand their audience. Every new feature they release makes my job as UX Researcher easier. I can collaborate effortlessly with stakeholders across all depeartments, that's how easy it is to work with. After I set up a project and create a tag board literally anyone can analyse and synthesise interviews and user tests. This is sooo helpful for scaling research. Also, nothing gets lost. With the global tags we can collect insights across all projects and over time build an extensive opportunity backlog. Every customer need or pain point is stored and can easily be prioritized.
What do you dislike about the product?
For data privacy reasons I can't make research reports public. This means every stakeholder needs to log into Dovetail to view the report and watch the interview snippets. This is tricky when you're dealing with busy execs who have no patience to sign up for a new tool, even with SSO.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
More impactful research. Streamlined proccesses. Seamless cross-functional collaboration.

A worthwhile tool

What do you like best about the product?
Dovetail has made it easy for our team to collect, organize, bundle, and review user research data all in one place. I really appreciate the ability to tag key insights and keep everything structured. It helps me revisit information quickly, even if I haven’t touched it for weeks or months.
What do you dislike about the product?
When I first took over as the main user, I found there was a bit of a learning curve. Our researcher had everything set up well, but as a product designer who doesn’t spend every day in research tools, it took some time to feel comfortable navigating and making the most of its features.

Now that we no longer have a full-time researcher, the cost feels a bit steep for how much use I get out of it. It’s definitely worth it for larger teams, but for someone like me who dips in and out, it feels like I’m not getting full value from the subscription.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Usability testing and user interviews are a fountain of insights but without Dovetail those insights, if not immediately applied, would, over time, get lost in the wind. Dovetail helps us manage and draw connections that we can refer back to.

Best tool for Design and Product

What do you like best about the product?
I have not seen another tool that can help with analysis and keep research organized, like Dovetail. As a UX Researcher and former Product Manager, this is one of my favorite tools. I can clearly see pain points, themes, and more, while clearly organizing my notes, transcripts, and calls with tags. It is easily accessible to design and product, and it saves tons of time in workflows. I would be incredibly at a loss without it. Customer support is also great, I should add. I've never had an issue with them.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was more of an onboarding at the start so I could have clearly organized and known how to use my tags. I know now it may have changed. At the start, you want to organize properly with tags, so. having that helping hand on a zoom is very important. Not everyone wants to watch a video or read support articles. I think to successfully use a tool, there should be a few onboarding calls.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dovetail created a one stop shop to quickly gather insights and view pain points, opportunities and more from all forms of UX Research, which led to quickly referencing various features and easily creating oranized repositories and research projects. The tool also brings together product and design and it was much more accessible than google drive for example. The tagging was the best feature, as any PM or Designer can use those to quickly view research based on their needs as well. Dovetail also helped easily transcribe and tag qualitative research and keep a central repository for all.

What do you like best about the product?
A robust research repository which is very user-friendly and slick. The new AI feature is a game changer, allowing you to analyse at volume at lightning speed with sharp accuracy. It's accelerated the speed at which we work and we couldn't be happier. The support you get is brilliant - issues are jumped on quickly in an efficient and friendly manner. They are leaders in the field.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tag taxonomy is tricky to nail down and there could be more support for this in the tool
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Repository to have all research in one place, where others in the business dip into. Analysis and synthesis used to be a long and laborious process, it's now much quicker with the new AI feature.

What do you like best about the product?
All your source material and insights are in one place, allowing stakeholders to drill down from the key findings into the sources where they came from. Viewer accounts are free, so you can invite everyone in the team so that all the relevant people have visibility to the findings. In addition to notes from research sessions, you can easily import feedback surveys from Typeform or another system through Zapier.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it feels a quite sluggish when adding or removing tags. Automatic transcription works poorly for languages other than English.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
* Storing research transcripts
* Qualitative analysis
* Visibility of insights within the company
* Combining data from different sources (surveys, interviews, internal findings etc.)

What do you like best about the product?
Dovetail makes it so simple to upload and tag customer conversations. I can quickly organize and categorize key insights without any hassle, which makes going back to analyze and pull out patterns really straightforward. It's definitely made the whole process a lot easier and something I actually do consistently now rather than dread.
What do you dislike about the product?
I did try to upload hundreds of customer comments to Dovetail and ask Dovetail to do the analysis. I didn't get anything useful out of it, but I think AI just isn't there quite yet. I still "manually" analyze the the conversations rather than use the AI features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dovetail is 1 place that I can upload customer conversations and tag them for future insights.

What do you like best about the product?
Dovetail is super helpful for me to make sense of stakeholder interviews and to tag documents. There isn't really any other tool like it. Going from the Microsoft Office suite to Dovetail is a breath of fresh air as it's so much more user friendly. Their latest AI features help me get to insights a lot faster, even if it's just a summary of a call and being able to quickly share a series of highlight clips with colleagues. They have a really generous free plan and even their paid plan is quite affordable.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing! I have been really happy with Dovetail. It's a big upgrade from Microsoft Word and Excel which is what I've been using for my research previously.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Stakeholder interview analysis and document storage and search.

What do you like best about the product?
My team and I started using Dovetail early on and it's provided value from day one and has only improved. Dovetail gives my team a centralised location to store and reference our user research, ensuring data is never lost or fragmented. It has also helped to align our day-to-day product work and to onboard new team members with existing projects. The recent introduction of AI tools such as Summaries has greatly improved the rate of communication to PMs and key stakeholders ahead of final results and more formal planning.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some quirks in the layout and design of certain functionality but these are minor overall.

Amazing platform for research synth work

What do you like best about the product?
I use Dovetail mostly for tagging / analysis, and for research repository. With their new AI features, you get a high-quality transcription, automatically generated AI notes, categorization of tagging suggestions and themes which speeds up your work a lot.
What do you dislike about the product?
The search feature is okay but it doens't always give you the best results.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dovetail streamlines a lot of our UX Research work with centralized data and making analysis more efficient and quick with tagging. It also allows stakeholders to get a quick and detailed insights into our research interviews.

What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to grasp and set up and initiative. I found the customer support to be helpful and quick to respond.
What do you dislike about the product?
At the time where was no functionality to identify common themes, this had to be done manually by the user. Although I understand this is in the pipeline.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
An central place for me to record research data and for my client to access it and keep coming back to us in a user-friendly format.
