Most valuable software I've ever purchased

  • April 08, 2016

What do you like best about the product?
Being able to sync my encrypted password vaults via Dropbox since the early days of the product has been incredibly useful, and allows me to feel like I'm in control of where my data is stored.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm still using an older version of the product, and so it feels like the browser extension doesn't work as often as it used to as Chrome and Firefox receive updates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having lengthy, complex passwords generated for each new site I sign up for is incredibly valuable for my personal security as well as the safety of my business's information. If one password is compromised and happens to show up on a list one day, I feel safe knowing that's the only account that will be affected.

What do you like best about the product?
Loved 1Password's Cmd+\ shortcut to easily fill or lookup log in. Buying one license allows for use on all machines. Also loved the mobile app. Also loved the password generator. Loved the also asked to save new passwords.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sadly its not free, mobile app is also not free. 1Password stops working if browser updates are available until browser is updated to most current patch.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All me to use more secure passwords w/ out needing to remember and type it overtime.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Best paid password management application thus far. Great integration and mobile application.

It'll change your life

What do you like best about the product?
1Password enables you to use strong passwords that are unique – meaning you will never use the same password twice. Their team and family platforms make it amazingly simple to share passwords with your co-workers or family members. These features alone have streamlined our work as a custom software development company where we collaborate remotely with clients and other team members.

The password generator is another widely used feature that allows us to generate impossible-to-guess passwords that are unique. By default, we always generate 30-charachter random passwords with numbers, special characters and letters. I never know what my passwords are, and never need to.

Dropbox vault syncing makes it incredibly simple to access passwords, logins, and secure notes across all devices. I use 1Password on 2 laptops, a mobile phone, and 3 tablets. Once I store a password, it's available on all devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sharing passwords is insecure and slightly cumbersome, but with 1Password for Teams coming out soon and 1Password for families that problem should be largely solved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Trying to solve the problem of protection agains brute force login attacks, managing thousands of passwords for myself and for clients, and sharing passwords between trusted people. The benefits are huge. We've secured thousands of accounts with both strong passwords and 2-factor authentication, and all password data are managed in secure vaults.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
1Password certainly changed the way I manage online accounts. I feel more secure than ever, and I don't have to remember any login credentials ever again (except for my one master password, of course!)

Used Several Password safes, this one takes the cake

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that 1password has an up to date and super easy to use Chrome browser extension is what makes 1password even better. Whenever I get to a login page, all I have to do is hit cmd+\ and bam, it auto fills my login details. (If 1password is opening for the first time, it will have you enter your master password but that's it.) Another thing that I really love about 1password is the ability to migrate password data using dropbox. Super useful. Also love how the list of logins include logos or icons next to each one which if I ever have to scroll through a list of logins within the safe, it makes it super easy to find what I'm looking for. Bottom line though, even as convenient as 1password is, arguable the best feature is security. You essentially have the ability to set extremely complex passwords without having to remember them. You can also use their password generator tool which is awesome for not just logins within 1password, but has many other uses outside of 1password as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
When I used to have the free version, and after it had expired, the password safe wouldn't let me update passwords that had changed. Of course I disliked this, but I think that's the point so that I will buy the full version. Which is totally worth it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I needed the ability to keep my logins secure, the ability to actively update logins, and ability to manage dozens of logins at the same time. After a while, keeping the logins down on paper was both tedious and unsecure. Being able to login with two keystrokes and still be incredibly secure is a huge plus. Anytime I see someone thumbing through a notebook full of logins, or that asks me to reset their password, I smile to myself and tell them to download the trial. Because if they start using the trial, i know they'll be hooked.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just download the trial. Trust me. It's an amazing program and once your trial runs out, you will see why it's worth buying.

The best password manager out there!

  • April 08, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to select the 1Password manager from Chrome and fill in your username and password is so easy and elegant. I have multiple gmails and multiple accounts at tons of websites and this helps a ton in combination with naming them appropriately.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice to auto login if only one username/password is found for a particular site.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing tons of passwords at once. It is a time saver and allows me / my team to focus on the work and not get bogged down remembering or looking up passwords.

My favorite password manager

What do you like best about the product?
It works, syncs well, keeps my passwords much safer than using the same password.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much I dislike, sometimes the autofill and enter messes up but they seem to have fixed that recently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having a secure password, but also memorizing each one can be hard. 1Password help tremendously in that realm.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use unique passwords, keep them all safe with 1password.

Impressively Comprehensive

What do you like best about the product?
I've heard 1Password being raved about by the likes of John Gruber, but it wasn't until I needed to share passwords across a small business in a secure way that I finally gave it a shot. Not only did it not disappoint, it turned me into a user for personal use as well.

I absolutely love that 1Password is so comprehensive. Not only does it work as a standalone application, but it also works with Google Chrome and my iPhone. I name especially delighted to see more and more Mobile applications taking advantage of ease-of-use of one password, allowing me access to any of my myriad passwords using Touch ID.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasionally one password fails to prompt when a new login is created, or when an existing password is updated. Usually it does a good job, but sometimes it will also capture the wrong username, especially when a sign up form requires multiple fields.

I also wish tighter integration with iOS were possible, allowing for one tap sign in through Safari for example. I'm sure that if the day comes that there is a technical path to creating said feature, the team at 1Password will take advantage of it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
What really clinches it for me is syncing. I can securely share passwords with my team in a separate Vault, keeping them separate from my personal passwords and financial information. This works both ways even: When a member of my team signs up for a new service provider, I have access immediately, and we don't need to purchase multiple accounts needlessly. Updating or changing information in 1Password is synced as well, so when we have to update passwords, Everybody gets the latest information automatically.

Life Changing

What do you like best about the product?
It has my passwords, my credit cards, my warranty receipts, my addresses, everything. I can't live without it. I have the desktop apps, mobile apps and have begun using the Teams. I used to use the same password on every site. In the 4 years since I have started using 1Password, I have switched to generated passwords and it stores all of my two-step validation and recovery keys as well. I recommend this to everyone. With the integrated fingerprint scanner support plus the fact that more apps are supporting 1Password now, it becomes the 1 app I need on my phone.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can take some time to import log ins if you have several hundred. Price can be intimidating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Security and piece of mind.

I can't live without it

What do you like best about the product?
Very well designed; syncing options (like Dropbox); option to keep passwords completely off the Internet; easy to use; multiple vaults; can keep track of a lot more than just passwords; no subscription fee; Touch ID support on the iPhone works really well; features that let you know when a password needs to be changed (either because of age or because of online services that have been hacked)
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much; the price can be a bit high to get started (but no subscription fees after that)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use 1Password to securely store all my passwords and a lot of my personal information. I am also able to use it to share website login information with my family. It can generate passwords for me, so it can generate a different, complicated password for each website with no need for me to remember each one.

I use Dropbox for my syncing, and it works pretty well. for people who don't want to have any info on the web, 1Password also offers a local syncing option.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
In addition to being able to buy the software outright, the company is now also offering fairly low-priced monthly subscription options for families and businesses which include the software.

After purchasing the software, I have been pleasantly surprised at how many major software updates the company has provided for free. Most other companies force users to pay an upgrade fee for new major versions, but 1Password is constantly getting great, new features for free.

I know several people who use LastPass instead, and I personally cannot stand the way it looks. For those who value good design, 1Password is so much better. LastPass is also web-based, so everything has to go through the LastPass website.

Great Product!

What do you like best about the product?
1Password is a well designed solution for the password management problem. I'm using the OSX version and it runs flawlessly. The best parts are the browser extensions and credential suggestions as well as the password complexity configuration panel. The password categorisation is great also, and the credentials search is spot on.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is one issue related to how credentials are passed from the app to the browser extension in plain text that is yet to be resolved. The Agilebits team are keen on not encrypting passwords passed through the loopback interface from the app to the extension. However, this is not a deal breaker for me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My usage of 1Password doesn't solve business problems for me, however, on a personal level I haven't had the need to memorise passwords anymore! It also allows me to have different passwords for different services which is a great plus, security wise.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it, it's a great product!
