The best password manager out there!

  • April 08, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to select the 1Password manager from Chrome and fill in your username and password is so easy and elegant. I have multiple gmails and multiple accounts at tons of websites and this helps a ton in combination with naming them appropriately.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice to auto login if only one username/password is found for a particular site.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing tons of passwords at once. It is a time saver and allows me / my team to focus on the work and not get bogged down remembering or looking up passwords.

My favorite password manager

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It works, syncs well, keeps my passwords much safer than using the same password.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much I dislike, sometimes the autofill and enter messes up but they seem to have fixed that recently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having a secure password, but also memorizing each one can be hard. 1Password help tremendously in that realm.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use unique passwords, keep them all safe with 1password.

Impressively Comprehensive

What do you like best about the product?
I've heard 1Password being raved about by the likes of John Gruber, but it wasn't until I needed to share passwords across a small business in a secure way that I finally gave it a shot. Not only did it not disappoint, it turned me into a user for personal use as well.

I absolutely love that 1Password is so comprehensive. Not only does it work as a standalone application, but it also works with Google Chrome and my iPhone. I name especially delighted to see more and more Mobile applications taking advantage of ease-of-use of one password, allowing me access to any of my myriad passwords using Touch ID.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasionally one password fails to prompt when a new login is created, or when an existing password is updated. Usually it does a good job, but sometimes it will also capture the wrong username, especially when a sign up form requires multiple fields.

I also wish tighter integration with iOS were possible, allowing for one tap sign in through Safari for example. I'm sure that if the day comes that there is a technical path to creating said feature, the team at 1Password will take advantage of it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
What really clinches it for me is syncing. I can securely share passwords with my team in a separate Vault, keeping them separate from my personal passwords and financial information. This works both ways even: When a member of my team signs up for a new service provider, I have access immediately, and we don't need to purchase multiple accounts needlessly. Updating or changing information in 1Password is synced as well, so when we have to update passwords, Everybody gets the latest information automatically.

Life Changing

What do you like best about the product?
It has my passwords, my credit cards, my warranty receipts, my addresses, everything. I can't live without it. I have the desktop apps, mobile apps and have begun using the Teams. I used to use the same password on every site. In the 4 years since I have started using 1Password, I have switched to generated passwords and it stores all of my two-step validation and recovery keys as well. I recommend this to everyone. With the integrated fingerprint scanner support plus the fact that more apps are supporting 1Password now, it becomes the 1 app I need on my phone.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can take some time to import log ins if you have several hundred. Price can be intimidating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Security and piece of mind.

I can't live without it

What do you like best about the product?
Very well designed; syncing options (like Dropbox); option to keep passwords completely off the Internet; easy to use; multiple vaults; can keep track of a lot more than just passwords; no subscription fee; Touch ID support on the iPhone works really well; features that let you know when a password needs to be changed (either because of age or because of online services that have been hacked)
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much; the price can be a bit high to get started (but no subscription fees after that)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use 1Password to securely store all my passwords and a lot of my personal information. I am also able to use it to share website login information with my family. It can generate passwords for me, so it can generate a different, complicated password for each website with no need for me to remember each one.

I use Dropbox for my syncing, and it works pretty well. for people who don't want to have any info on the web, 1Password also offers a local syncing option.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
In addition to being able to buy the software outright, the company is now also offering fairly low-priced monthly subscription options for families and businesses which include the software.

After purchasing the software, I have been pleasantly surprised at how many major software updates the company has provided for free. Most other companies force users to pay an upgrade fee for new major versions, but 1Password is constantly getting great, new features for free.

I know several people who use LastPass instead, and I personally cannot stand the way it looks. For those who value good design, 1Password is so much better. LastPass is also web-based, so everything has to go through the LastPass website.

Great Product!

What do you like best about the product?
1Password is a well designed solution for the password management problem. I'm using the OSX version and it runs flawlessly. The best parts are the browser extensions and credential suggestions as well as the password complexity configuration panel. The password categorisation is great also, and the credentials search is spot on.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is one issue related to how credentials are passed from the app to the browser extension in plain text that is yet to be resolved. The Agilebits team are keen on not encrypting passwords passed through the loopback interface from the app to the extension. However, this is not a deal breaker for me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My usage of 1Password doesn't solve business problems for me, however, on a personal level I haven't had the need to memorise passwords anymore! It also allows me to have different passwords for different services which is a great plus, security wise.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it, it's a great product!

A digital vault for everything you need a digital vault for.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I don't have to remember anything. 1Password will safely store everything from your Credit/Debit cards to your Passport. It's a safe place to store personal information, that takes it's security seriously.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downfall to 1Password is the the browser extension. I recently read an article by a developer who was able to watch the communication between the browser plug-in and the actual application and during the handshake, passwords and other data were passed as plain text. It's an impenetrable fortress until you use the browser extension. So I uninstalled it and use 1Password daily.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
You can delineate between a "Team" set of passwords or a "Personal" set of passwords. I've used tools like Meldium before and they don't scale well. You almost have to have an advocate who's constantly reminding people to use the tool. With 1Password as the standard tool, everyone is connected when they need to be, and separate when needed, as well.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is an excellent piece of software. I would just check to see if they have improved security on the browser plug-ins before installing those. Otherwise, this is a clutch piece of software for myself, but also for my team and whole company.

Works great for me

What do you like best about the product?
Chrome extension is very easy to use and really handy to have. PW generator is solid also.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it would prompt you to use it when a password was needed. I think lastpass does this rather well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We wanted a central place to house passwords that wasn't a google doc. This definitely solved that easily.

Indispensable application, don't know how you'd get along without it

What do you like best about the product?
The way passwords are handled on the web today is far from great, and the idea that having a separate user account on each website you visit is not particularly great. However, until we have a better way to prove that we are who we say we are when online, it's great that there's an app like 1Password to help us make this mess a little bit less painful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes when you have multiple accounts on similar domains (like multiple gmail users) the browser plugins are a little over-eager to pick the first one on the list instead of giving you a moment to decide which account you're logging into today.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1Password allows you to be a little bit more secure when logging in to websites, as auto-generating, storing and retrieving an individual hard to guess password is trivial. The new team features also means that a business can share important logins without having to resort to insecure methods or overly complex ones.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're using the same password on more than one site you need to get your act together and start using this.

I love 1password, and you will too!

What do you like best about the product?
Everything. Its like a password genie just a click away anytime I need it. I use it for storing everything. Passwords, SSN, notes, the works. Its fast, never has crashed on me. Nice UI, easy to use. Love 1password mini too, its great to have something running in the background that can be pulled up by a keystroke. I also use 1 password premium on my phone 6 too. I use probably more than my mac app. Having all my passwords on my iphone is awesome. The secure browser is nice too. Highly recommended.
What do you dislike about the product?
Seems a bit pricey to me, but I would do it again if I had to. I think that if you buy the desktop app you should get the pro ios version for free with it. Your talking $60 if you buy both (like I did).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am a designer and front-end dev. My company uses 1 password through a synced dropbox vault for all of us (over 18 employees)) to have passwords to servers, programs, usernames, etc. Everything. Its SOOOOO nice. No more emailing my boss for the password to something. Just select the company vault and BOOM! We are looking forward to using 1password for teams!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get it peeps. If you don't have 1password then you are behind the times. No more dreaded forget password emails, etc. Just open 1password and boom, your done. Its that easy. Works on all your devices, all synced. Its secure, fast, and intuitive. I'm not just saying that, I use it. It changed the way I work, for real. No more long evernote list with passwords and usernames all scrambled around. One place, all devices. Get it.
